  • very cool footage, thank you for sharing this

  • Clyde bein played at the beginning... Good Ol' Waylon

  • the only show where even the villans are lovable.

  • Thx for posting this! I grew up watching the Dukes on tv. I used to visit my mamaw in nearby Hindman/Kite, KY, each summer and always wanted mom to pass thru Hazzard. When the Mountain Parkway came along we would bypass Hazzard. I would often hear about Black Gold festival. I remember granny had a postcard from the Dukes visit a year earlier. Mamaw passed in 1997, but my heart still bleeds love for Southeast KY. Love youall, ;)

  • Sam Dick as a young lad! Great clip.

  • I started the dukes fan club and hosted the first ever convention in 1998. I may start again since DukesFest is going downhill or has stopped.

  • Cool!!!

  • This does bring back great memories and its a shame hollywood still cant understand this is what most people still want, shows like this one.The best part is that little girl and im sure she is now in the best of hands the hands of God.My heart goes out to the mom and dad, just know shes has a smile now you couldnt believe. We all need to find a child like her and make there wishes come true, that what its all about if you ask me you cant by a blessing like that,i know ive done it.

  • This brings back great memories. It's odd to see a really young Sam Dick in Hazard...I didn't know WYMT gave him his start. I was almost 3 when this took place. The fictional Hazzard is based on the actual Hazard, which Guy Waldron (Dukes creator) has family there. Waldron himself is from norther Kentucky. Even us hillbillies in McCreary County respect Hazard for it's mini fame.

  • My grandfather was in the parade (a shriner) and I was a teenager at the time. I remember how surprisingly bad "Daisy" looked close up, like she'd been partying for a week with no sleep, and Hazard PD busting Boss Hog's big 4WD road crew for possession. I was about 20 feet away and remember one of the officer's searching their van say " Lookee here we got possession of marrywannee!!" They'd been watching the idiots drink beer all day from the police station up on the hill. Good times!

  • 5:19. they sure dont make dixie horns like they use to. anyone who thinks wolo was the original horn.....well.... wolo came out 1985. after the dukes ended. i know the original horn

  • Paul baxley stunt coordinator died last month. He was responsible for making the general move and jump

  • Guess Bo and Luke couldn't make it.

  • @2much4mymirror they did one year, just not the year they shot this.

  • Except the series was set in Georgia

  • Peggy Rea (Lulu) just recently passes away last month on February 5, 2011.

  • a day l'ii visit that wonderful places called U.S.A. .......I Love U.S.A.....

  • Thank you Rick Hurst for being the most under rated charactor/ in the show. And what happened to Peggie Ray?

  • i fell off the 2nd story on the parking garage at 4:35

  • cool i like this these public apperences they make. you have any more.

  • I remember watching reruns of this on tv when I was little. It's a great show.

  • Heart-warming =0)

  • The one person who did not like this should get the shit kicked out of them!!!!!

  • James Best just seems like a class act.

  • what a reunion, the brothers didnt even talk for 2 minutes!!

  • I remember this! I can say I was honored to be there! I'm from Hazard, Ky. Clip time 5:28 you'll see my late brother Michael & in clip 3:20 you'll see my sister Kendra in a white/light blue shirt w/ blonde hair & my brother George w/ his jacket of badges on :) I'm still looking for me & my mom though!

  • my mom hated letting me watch this show , but i loved it and still do

  • haha i was born and rised in ky :)

  • I've been to Hazard Ky about 4 times each year for the last 10 years for a relative. What a wild event that must have been! It seems to me there was another incident back in the 80s where Tom Wopat and John Schnieder contributed something for a flood relief, I remember watching that and them mentioning the kinship they felt to their alter town. GREAT vid!

  • That was sweet about the lil girl

  • Have the cast of Dukes of Hazzard visit your hometown/area would be an awesome thing to have experienced. Too bad they're not all still alive.

  • Great movie and a great festival. Was nice seeing so many Confederate flags!

  • thank you so much for posting this i am a big time fan and have never saw this you have definetly made my day !!

  • I grew up very close to here, just a few miles away. I was only two when this happened, but people do still talk about this like it was yesterday. And Daisy still gets top billing! I was always partial to Inus myself. I loved that show when I was a kid. A few years ago Bill Clinton came to visit and I was there then, but I don't remember as many people being there as was shown there in 1981. Go figure.

  • The General Lee got the MOST fan mail , this video said Daisy was who every one was wanting to see but , the 1969 Dodge Charger R/T Made this show , NO other car could ever replace the 01 car as far as popularity ..

    Crue

  • Thanks for the memories.....yeeehaaaaw!!

Yall come back now ya hear?

  • I HOPE that long lost brother,John Paul finally got to see MORE of his long last brother, that "Rosco" actor.

John Paul seemed all emotional and choked when he finally lain eyes on his brother.

  • @kika421 I agree! I don't know if "Roscoe" was too choked up with that big crowd there, but he did not seem to treat his brother with anything more than the handshake he would give to a fawning fan! That sucked.

  • No discredit to this video or the Dukes cause I loved this video and I'm a BIG TIME fan. However, I've always wonderd why people seem to think the show was based in KY? They always mentioned Atlanta as if they lived close to it. I recall one episde where they said, "we gotta go up to Atlanta. I suppose it was originally based on a fictional town near Atlanta. After all, it was originally filmed in Covington, GA. I suppose its to make the children happy, and thats fine by me. I was just curious.

  • Good Point. That's just like In The Heat Of The Night was also filmed in Covington, Ga and there is no such thing as Sparta, Ms or a Newman County, Ms. The closest thing is a Newton County, Ms which is near Meridian, Ms. I guess one of these days Hollywood will figure out southern geography. I love this show always have and always will.

  • Cool. Yeah, I mean no disappointment to the people of Hazzard, KY, but its just a fact. I've been a BIG BIG fan of this show since I was a child, and I continue to collect all sorts of crap from the series, but I just was wondering how many folks knew this. Can't say that I remember the same issue about Heat of the Night, but I'm sure your right. I suppose they think southerners are a bunch of dum ass hick. Hmmm,,,. I dunno, but oh well.

  • I agree wholeheartedly

  • there's a Sparta, TN.Butt Covington had the look they were looking for.

  • Sorrell " Boss Hogg" Booke came to "The World of Wheels" car show in Tampa, FL in the early 80s. What a gentleman! I watched nearby as he signed autographs from the people standing in line. He took time out to gently talk to and advise every single child that came up to him about doing the right things in life. Very kindly man. I regret that I didn't wait in line to shake his hand. God rest his soul.

  • Thank you so much for loading this. I had no idea that their Hazard visit had been on the news.

  • What a great video! I've been a Dukes fan since January 1979 and I've never seen this footage! Thank goodness for YouTube to show such treasures like this one! Thank you to everyone who submits these great videos and long live The Dukes of Hazzard!

  • i live 3 mins from the street that is showed, its called Main street, Black gold is gonna be fun again this year, :D

  • Awesome Video!!!!!!

I hope you don't mind if i post it on the CGLF.

  • Aww too bad I was born 8 years later in Hazard, KY. I would've love to seen this!

  • what a nice story

  • be sure to tape all the remaining cast members lol

  • I remember when this happened, I was so young. I begged and begged to go. I was a HUGE Dukes fan, and being from the area I just knew I would get to go, but I dad wouldn't take me he said that I liked the General to much and might try to take it. Lol he was probably really afraid I'd run off and get lost in the crowd.

  • if the town is named after hazard kentucky then why is the show set in georgia?

  • @thebeautifulman69 georgia is one of the 2 states in the us (i think the other is new hampshire) that allows a single county commissioner to run the county instead of a group of commissioners. so obviously they needed to use georgia for the setting in order to have boss hogg be the sole commissioner and also to be set in the south.

  • @starspangled86 I've always wondered about that but never got around to asking that question. Thank you for the info.

  • I use to live in Hazard when I was very young I still have family there and went back a few years ago to visti I forgot how beautiful it is there.

  • Where were "The Duke Boys?".....

  • I heard daisy duke was pimped out in Hazard

  • well, i didnt get go as a kid but i heard a lot about it from friends. did daisey really get drunk and pass out on the courthouse steps or was that just a rumor that was started later? i loved the show as a kid but when i happen to see it now as an adult, i cant help to think "how stupid!"

  • where are bo and luke duke

  • They did a Dukes of Hazzard reunion in Renfro Valley, KY back in 2000. I got to meet John, Tom, and Sonny. All great guys! The Dukes was my favorite show when I was little.

  • I was an avid fan back then. It would be great if there were a DukesFest held in Hazard. Hopefully, Byron Cherry and Christopher Mayer (Coy Duke, Vance Duke) would show up. That would make everything more festive.

  • Wish I was there when it happened. Ever since about 2003, the festivals have really went downhill alot, the only reason that I go is to buy/look/christmas shop at the crafts. We should have another DukeFest just to boost tthe morale, and get it headed back in the right direction.

  • Thanks for your comments..We do plan to bring some type of Dukes Of Hazzard event to Hazard in the future.Just have to find a place in Hazard to hold a bunch of General Lee's

  • I was there in that crazy crowd ,I am from Hazard Ky and I will remember that day until I die .Thanks for posting this video it brought back good memories.

  • your welcome!

  • Thanks for the comment..Glad you enjoy it..Hopefully soon were going to try to organize a Dukes style event back in Hazard.

  • Man, thanks for posting this. I was born and raised in perry co from lost creek (note my driving across lost creek videos) I was like 3 years old when the dukes came to hazard and I remember it well. I have a picture hanging on the wall of my brother and I sitting in the general lee. Rosco was always my favorite and I remember like being face to face with him wanting him to hold me, lol, memories. My dad worked for the hazard fire dept and boy can he tell you some stories about some of the cast.

  • Thanks for the comment..Glad you enjoy it..Hopefully soon were going to try to organize a Dukes style event back in Hazard.

  • I'm proud to say I'm from Hazard,Ky. Born and raised. I wish the cast from DOH would come visit us again.

  • sweet.
