The guys talking about democracy and republic: what do these words mean? well, democracy is about the election process, and who will be in power, and the republic is about the constitutional rights, and how to enforce them, against the state, irrespective of who is in power. The constitution is the supreme law of the land. But if you don't know it, and don't know, how to call on it, when you are confronted with the government, and a judge to rule a case u r involved in, you are screwed.

The enemy is not Democracy, but majoritarianism. Every simple majority system forms two vote pools. These vote pools pretend to be driven by ideology, but they are just gaming the system.
Move the majority level to 80%, and a vast majority of actions become consensus actions. We already hold this standard in courts, because more than 50% have to agree before compulsive action is taken.
Stop trashing democracy. The simple majority is tailored for conflict.

Without democratic power our rights can be easily taken away by any supreme court judge, as citizens united shows. Ron Paul will win in 2012, if you believe. I'm an old man and last time I voted was for High Skool class council President, and NEVER donated to ANY political candidate. This year I sent Ron Paul $10 bucks, and WILL register to vote for the first time ever.
