.22LR's can kill. They will kill. They do kill. They are arguably the most deadly caliber as far as sheer amount of people killed. The ease of use and availability of the .22LR ammunition makes it about the only caliber for the daily sport shooter. There have been Police reports where people have been shot multiple times by a 9mm just on adrenaline and dis no know that they were hit. I just do not trust a .22lr which has just as many rounds as my Glock 23 carrys. I don't know it just doesn't make sence to me. A .380 is the same size as a 22lr pistol, why not a .380
@4everUSNavy Yeah and what's to stop a junkie from invading your house, my house, or assface2000 house? Nothing, like I said a 22lr will kill a person and if that's all you h e or all you can afford it's better then nothing. But a 22lr will let the intruder alive long enough to kill you. If the intruder survives 14 rounds or hollow points fro my glock 23 then he's superman. I then have another 10 round mag to back that 13 round mag up!
Just search around on the Internet about cops shooting somebody with 20+ 9mm rounds and they continue to fight. A 22lr(unless a head shot or heart shot) will keep an assailant in the fight long enough to kill you. And that's unacceptable in a fight to keep you and your family alive. .40S&W is as small as I'll go unless it's a backup gun
@SSshane6d9 the people who have been shot that many times were probably Junkies my friend. Becuase they still have that problem with the .40 s&w and believe it or not ive seen stories where .45acp.
@cobrachoppergirl Like I said yes a 22lr will kill a person. But a 22lr will not take a person out of the gamebeing hot anywhere. I'm an ex army raher and have shot people with an M9 which is a 9mm which creates a lot more damage then a 22lr. They acted like they never got shot, even though there was atleast 3 confirmed hits. Just imagine if there hoped up on drugs, a 22lr will literally just piss um off unless you get a head shot or heart shot
@gredesandman Doubt your military, because if you were one of the first things you learn about is the deadliness of all ammunition including .22's. Thinking any bullet coming at you will just bounce off your flesh is the stupidest goddamn thing I've ever read on youtube. I can't tell if your trolling or are just have down syndrome.
I have a Ruger 22/45 and i tell ya i wouldnt wanna be in the way of the thing. Sadly Fabio, our cheapest ammo here in Australia is Federal 525 Pack......and we pay $47 American :(
but even at muzzle velocity of 1500fps it's still way slow for such a small rifle. My .257 Roberts travels at 3027 fps at muzzle and I've hit deer from 20 feet away an the internal organs were not liquified. So a small very slow 22lr even at 1500 fps will not rip you apart!!!! You would be depending on the hollow point again to do it's jobs. A .22lrs hollow point doesn't expand really big, so you better hit the right spot
@WaagooshTheRedFox No it won't! It's that simple, large rounds create a TWC (temporary wound cavity). A .50bmg creates a TWC larger then a body, that's why it can split them in half. A .22lr doesn't travel fast enough to create a TWC it depends on the hollow point to do the job. I've prolly shot 300 ground hogs using a .22lr and I'd you don't hit them right, they run off! If you use a 7mm-08 they explode cause it creates that TWC that's larger then the ground hog itself
man if i hear 1 more fucking retard say that "assassins" choose the .22lr im gonna puke. im sure a few people have been killed by a .22 to the unprotected back of the skull, but that doesnt mean shit...
a 22 needs to be comming out of a rifle barrel to have enough juice to penetrate the human skull. out of some snubbie or derringer it just aint gonna do it.
its a stupid internet myth for stupid internet commandos and ASSASSINS
@asssface2000 Wow, so your saying companies that make .22 handguns are intentionally putting out products that can't penetrate a human skull? So that coyote I shot with my .22 Beretta last year in the head, an animal which has much thicker skull bones to protect a tiny brain, instead just died of a heart attack because of the shock of having a bullet bounce of it's head? Interesting, I'm taking my gun back tomorrow. How dare Beretta lie to me!
@4everUSNavy yeah most died of infection 2 weeks after being shot. whats your point? if i gotta stop a bad guy, i want STOPPING power.
that being said, i just read a story in american rifleman about a guy who shot an intruder 1 time in the chest with a .22 rifle and he died but the story doesnt say if he died instantly or if he ran away and died in an alley somewhere.
.22s kill but its like carrying a 1" knife when you can carry a 4" knife.
@asssface2000 i never said the .22lr was the best round. just saying that alot of people have been killed by them because you said they have never killed anyone.
ehhh..... .22 are iffy. If i want to blows a guys brains out i would want at lest a .38. i heard a story of some guy who had to shoot himselfs in the head 3 times before he could die.

@SSshane6d9 one could use a .22 hypersonic round with a hollow point or an exploding tip. a hollow-point traveling at 1500 fps muzzle 1215 at 100 yards, it will rip you a new one just like any other gun.
@SSshane6d9 Google "Dutch Mall Shooting" - a kid took his S&W MP 15/22 .22 to a mall, opened fire, killed 7 and wounded 15 more. Take a plastic milk gallon, fill it with water, to simulate the thickness of a human, and shoot it with a 22. A 22 will punch through 3 of them back to back and enter a forth. 22's are an assassin's caliber of choice, used with a suppressor. No assassin fires just one round; they'd use a semi or full auto, the first hit anywhere will take them out of the game.
What person has been shot with a 50 bmg and survived? I would love to talk too that person or read that article. A .50 bmg creates a temporary wound cavity larger the head it's self. Meaning your head hen shot with a .50bmg pops like a pimple. It's like shooting a orange with a .308 it just simply disappear's in a cloud of red haze. Ex ranger with experience with what happens. I didn't pull the trigger but saw first hand what happened!
@gredesandman If you have the misfortune of being headshot by a high velocity .22 rimfire at 300 yards I highly doubt it will be a flesh wound and you will be getting up. It will still have sufficient kinetic energy to penetrate a human skull unless you're the Hulk. lol
you read that about the bouncing around in the skull from the zombie survival guide i believe. however its its a myth, the bullet simply loses its velocity and stops.
Even if the shooter cared about projectile recovery in the body, in a .22 it wouldn't matter. that small of a caliber it is near impossible to do striation comparisons. the caliber is just too small and it deforms too much to pull a match in almost all cases. it would be easier to pull striation comparisons from the casing and match it to the firearm but even that in a .22 is a long stretch.
@gredesandman Im ex military also, a 22 cal long rifle with a good shot placement WILL without a doubt cause the victum to cancel Christmas! even at real long range!
I took a deer skull and shot it with a .22 lr and ripped through one side and destroyed the orange inside then fractured the other side so yes a .22 will not only give someone a bad day but will end it with a headshot.
@gredesandman well clearly it will enter your skull and mince your brains of course it will be more effective -_- (dumb asses) this is youtube you are not going to get many that make sense here
its not about the caliber.... its about shot placement. you can shoot someone in the foot with a .50 cal and they wont die but will lose a foot, shoot someone in the eye with a .177 pellet gun and they will die.
i love .22s, and 410's, they are like the underdog guns, i personally own a 410, and have shot several 22's, and i must say they are a lot of fun and (usually) pretty spot on accurate. What do you think of 410's?
I own a .22 myself and I have some buddies who like to make fun of it. The funny thing about it is that since they call it a "bitch gun" I offer them to stand down range and catch of few "bitch rounds" they have yet to take up my offer.
@runner23233 Best Zombie killing Caliber around. you can get a brick of about 1000 rounds for $40 or less and it's more than enough to enter the skull and destroy a brain,PLUS it's not as loud as more powerful calibers so it won't draw more attention from other zombies.
@FabioCrow07770 omg finally someone shares the same knowledge as me. yes a 22 was use by assisans and our armed forces. yes our armed forces use(d) 22 caliber rifles. how do i know this? my uncle is seals and told me they use to use them as scouting rifles and dmrs in certain environments. msg me back
@FabioCrow07770 jacket would do the same it would just flatten it would have to be hardened steel for it to "bounce" its just like anything else it would flatten once hits the back of the skull will just drop
@runner23233 that stuff is completely fucking bullshit from close ranges it would blast through both side and if not it would just fall no bullet just bounces in the head -_- dumb shits
@runner23233 there great rounds but they don't bounce inside the head no bullet has ever just bounced around its almost impossible and even if it did it does not have the kinetic energy to penetrate the brain multiple more times and like i said it would just penetrate the skull
@demarr14 In a zombie apocalypse scenario, cost is going to be less of an issue. Scavenging ammo from casualties and from deserted places might very well be a factor,. so you would want a popular, easy to find caliber. A 22, or even better, a multicaliber weapon, would be much more useful than some larger calibers.
price doesn't matter,36 grain mini mag hp with 1260 fps ,flat tragectory super accurate will poke a hole through all 4 sides of an oven, I know cuz I just shot my remington nylon 66 at 50 meters and it went thru 4 plates of 26 ga. steel and kept going. The double duce is a badass don't doubt it.
@xxxpaintbal why Assassin's Creed? its a .22 revolver... revolvers came out in the 1800's assassins creed is based in BC when they didnt even have muskets.
@runescape44411 Assassins creed 2 and brotherhood is based in the 15th century and as you may or may not know Leonardo De vinci was a great inventor whom invented many war machines, flying machines, guns, cars, and a lot more.
@runescape44411 yes I know. I love AC but you said "assassins creed" and I automatically thought The Original Assassin's Creed 1 so sorry dude my bad.
I was about to say the same thing they enter and bounce around! Ive yet to get one but I will also the long neck makes bullets travel faster and accurate
Try using the winchester z-long cartridges - do a side by side test into a thick phone book or three.
The hypersonics penetrate "not much" and the subsonic Z's go about 1/2 - 2/3rds of the way through - depending upon the book thickness.
At the minimum - use at least 4" or 100mm of phonebook/s.
The Z rounds are very nice and seriously good hunting rounds - but you have to know your bullet tragectory AND have your sights zeroed in at a specific range between the rise and fall for best accurac
I also have a Heritage Arms Rough Rider with the longest barrel (7.5 inches?). It is very accurate I have found. It just likes high quality ammo. I use CCI stuff, and it will shoot as accurately as I can make it shoot.
22 lr does tumble in the body but not due to ricochets, its because it is a heeled bullet(the part of the bullet in the case is smaller diameter), so when it impacts it tumbles.
@FabioCrow07770 my last name is kennedy :) haha totally random, but yeah, a .22 round will go through.... just not all the way, bullets dont fly forever and i think that @DaylanNelson has yet to realise that....
@DaylanNelson That's actually not true. Yes this character often hasn't a clue about the subject matter he makes the videos about however he is somewhat correct regarding .22lr rounds bouncing around in the skull. Mobsters actually preferred the round for back of the head assasinations because the round would not penetrate and would do significant damage to brain matter. Bullets ricochet all the time, even in a human body.
.22 is a just as dangerous in wrong hands than any other caliber. There were two school shootings here in Finland a couple of years ago and there was a .22LR caliber pistol used in both. The problem now is that the gun laws are starting to go to retarded lenghts because of those shootings. It wont help of course but it makes life harder for finnish gun collectors and handgun owners.
.22 is the most dangerous caliber out there. Cheapest, most readily available, goes through and sits inside you. I've heard stories of .22s going through skin hitting inside the rib cage and then bouncing around the arteries.
You must use a better .22 bullet than I do. I don't think I can "mortar-fire" a .22 round 2 miles with a good wind at my back. And mine won't kill at that range.
Try this. Get a plastic toy baseball and a real baseball. Throw each one as hard as you can. Same principle as a .22 bullet. Loses too much energy too quickly. The mass just isn't there...plus has a dinky powder charge.
VERY under rater caliber. i love the .22 cheap and effective. As for the bouncing off of people haha!!! yea sure i think it goes in and comes back out the same hole
Come on. The .22 rifle I occasionaly fire (not mine so I forget the name) is one of the most accurate .22 S.O.Bs you're gonna find on the .22 rifle market. The rounds can kill up to (get ready for it) 2 bloody miles. I was very surprised at this but it even comes with a warning on one of the ammunition boxes: "Caution: Dangerous up to a distance of 2 miles (3 kilometers)".
@itinkgirlzhot12 NEVER underestimate a .22 bullet. No offense, but if you don't know what I had previously mentioned, you obviously know nothing about .22 guns...
@TheAlexagius The UK doesn't have crap gun laws. They are easy enough to obey. Oh, by the way, a few years back, my uncle got a .45-70 Gov't Rugar... semi-auto of course. Oh, and a few guys have old .58 Springfield muskets, which are fucking awesome to fire! Original ones too. To your responce on the 2 mile range on a .22, gravity is your friend. Use your math right and gravity will do the rest. A lot of maths involved in shooting actually...
@naedanger123 uk DOES have crap gun laws, semi autos in higher than .22 no hand guns no shotguns have a limited mag, no slugs, no autos. if you are shooting at that distance you'd be shooting big game not rabits as its far easyer to get closer, if your uncle has a semi auto he must have a class 5 permit from the home office to own a semi auto higher than .22m if its a LBR then its not semi auto(by law) so is ok. muskets are fun but so are say ar-15 which have to be stright pull not semi
@TheAlexagius Sorry, no handguns? What are you on about friend? Model 629 Smith & Weston .44? SIG P226 9x19mm? Those are both handguns owned by my father before. Hell, my uncle owns a shit-ton of guns! .357 Winchester, .45LC Single Action Army, TOZ-197 12 gauge shotgun (used to be my dad's), the list goes on and on!
@naedanger123 you remeber 1997? no hand guns were banned in that year? Do your uncle or father own a gun shop or are they ex or current police or military?
@TheAlexagius They don't own a gun shop. They aren't ex police or military. My uncle owns a Single Action Army, so maybe there is a law on the guns being a certain age? Also, UK gun laws are fine. If someone can't obey them, they shouldn't be allowed within 10 miles of a firearm. If you are a good, law-abiding citizen, you are fine (my father and uncle being Class 3 firearm license owners). My dad did do police work, so maybe that has something to do with it (training police in unarmed fighting)
@naedanger123 its its on old design, like muzzelloading or black powder its legal if its a new gun like a glock 21 its illegal exept in northan ireland, the thing which makes them bad in my opion is types of gun limited and you need lots of paperwork, and you have to store the gun seperate from ammo making it usless if you ever need it as it a real need like you get attacked in your home by a guy with a gun
I Dont think a 22. would ricachet in ur head... once... prehaps but it would most likely be Lodged in the brain material... so Yeah i agree id love a 22. six shooter in any situation... okay prehaps not assasination... prehaps a 22. rifle but not a six shooter....
My neighbor in the Colorado Rockies was a hunting guide. Tracked cats. Told me they use .22 HP's to kill mountain lion, after they've been treed, with a heart/lung shot.
I'd never consider it as my first choice as a defensive weapon but in a pinch, I think 50 rounds of .22 are gonna stop ya.
The secret to using a .22 is practice, practice, practice. It's cheap enough to negate the cost factor, plus no kick so you can shoot all day. It's a low powered lightweight round so the key is bullet placement. With just a bit of practice one can become fairly proficient fairly quickly because the round doesn't intimidate the shooter.

Got a Ruger 10-22 with plenty plenty Butler Creek 25 rd clips. Love it. I shoot gallon water jugs and golf balls at 30 yds. using hollow point ammo. I push the jugs out to 50 yds comfortably. No exploding jugs but I know I don't wanna be shot in the melon by a .22. I practice using aimed fire and hip shooting. LOL 2000 +/- rds/month. Great fun!
@FabioCrow07770 why do u know that 22 cals bounces around inside the brain and the target is toast? i thought u was gonna say cause u got shot by a 22 into the head before
@CosmicDestroyer99 it can't why can't people realize it it would just penetrate the skull and will just flatten and drop in the skull even if it ricochets in the head it does not have the power to continue on that's just bullshit people like to say to make .22 look better
@Ntownbiking how about you learn how to read first i said it can't bounce around and mince a brain and honestly i would be dead the first shot so why the fuck would it matter if it bounces around god people are idiots and honestly they can if they want but i don't know why anyone would want to prison rapped for the rest of there like in prison
@MASTERBLASTER118 Just saying miss fires and duds are in both rim and center. You were lucky enough to not get any miss fires with center fires and i was lucky enough to get almost no miss fires with Rim fires. i'd much rather have it the other way around like you have it. 3 years ago a .303 round miss fired on me....that's a pretty big round,I just stood there for 30 seconds with the rife still pointed at the target before I cycled the round out.
Silly man assassins use retractable sleeve daggers or poisonous umbrellas not guns .

I also did not see any ''bouncing'' around.

FabioCrow07770 2 months ago
its not about the caliber.... its about shot placement. you can shoot someone in the foot with a .50 cal and they wont die but will lose a foot, shoot someone in the eye with a .177 pellet gun and they will die.

i love .22s, and 410's, they are like the underdog guns, i personally own a 410, and have shot several 22's, and i must say they are a lot of fun and (usually) pretty spot on accurate. What do you think of 410's?
ferrarisandwar29 3 months ago
I own a .22 myself and I have some buddies who like to make fun of it. The funny thing about it is that since they call it a "bitch gun" I offer them to stand down range and catch of few "bitch rounds" they have yet to take up my offer.

runner23233 3 months ago
@runner23233 Best Zombie killing Caliber around. you can get a brick of about 1000 rounds for $40 or less and it's more than enough to enter the skull and destroy a brain,PLUS it's not as loud as more powerful calibers so it won't draw more attention from other zombies.
FabioCrow07770 3 months ago
@FabioCrow07770 omg finally someone shares the same knowledge as me. yes a 22 was use by assisans and our armed forces. yes our armed forces use(d) 22 caliber rifles. how do i know this? my uncle is seals and told me they use to use them as scouting rifles and dmrs in certain environments. msg me back

@FabioCrow07770 do jacketed bullets bounce around or just unjacketed lead rounds??
Thunderbolt22A10 3 months ago
@Thunderbolt22A10 Lead bullets will explode inside the skull, jacketed will bounce around. either one the brain will be destroyed
FabioCrow07770 3 months ago
@FabioCrow07770 jacket would do the same it would just flatten it would have to be hardened steel for it to "bounce" its just like anything else it would flatten once hits the back of the skull will just drop
MrDip02 2 months ago
@runner23233 that stuff is completely fucking bullshit from close ranges it would blast through both side and if not it would just fall no bullet just bounces in the head -_- dumb shits
MrDip02 2 months ago
@runner23233 there great rounds but they don't bounce inside the head no bullet has ever just bounced around its almost impossible and even if it did it does not have the kinetic energy to penetrate the brain multiple more times and like i said it would just penetrate the skull

zombie apocalypse effective?
demarr14 4 months ago
@demarr14 In a zombie apocalypse scenario, cost is going to be less of an issue. Scavenging ammo from casualties and from deserted places might very well be a factor,. so you would want a popular, easy to find caliber. A 22, or even better, a multicaliber weapon, would be much more useful than some larger calibers.

The Z rounds are very nice and seriously good hunting rounds - but you have to know your bullet tragectory AND have your sights zeroed in at a specific range between the rise and fall for best accurac
callmeshane303 6 months ago
I also have a Heritage Arms Rough Rider with the longest barrel (7.5 inches?). It is very accurate I have found. It just likes high quality ammo. I use CCI stuff, and it will shoot as accurately as I can make it shoot.
It's even more accurate with .22wmr.

22 lr does tumble in the body but not due to ricochets, its because it is a heeled bullet(the part of the bullet in the case is smaller diameter), so when it impacts it tumbles.

adobeAFXtests 7 months ago

It wont help of course but it makes life harder for finnish gun collectors and handgun owners.
socom117 9 months ago
if it can kill an flipping gator then it can kill an adult.

.22 is the most dangerous caliber out there.

The mass just isn't there...plus has a dinky powder charge.
junkiron1 10 months ago
VERY under rater caliber. i love the .22 cheap and effective. As for the bouncing off of people haha!!! yea sure i think it goes in and comes back out the same hole
ChrisCorle01 10 months ago
Come on. The .22 rifle I occasionaly fire (not mine so I forget the name) is one of the most accurate .22 S.O.Bs you're gonna find on the .22 rifle market. The rounds can kill up to (get ready for it) 2 bloody miles. I was very surprised at this but it even comes with a warning on one of the ammunition boxes: "Caution: Dangerous up to a distance of 2 miles (3 kilometers)".
naedanger123 10 months ago
@naedanger123 2 miles my ass .22 dont go that far

@TheAlexagius .22 can reach a mile
MrDip02 2 months ago
@naedanger123 mind you in the uk with our crap gun laws their the only semi autos we can get.
TheAlexagius 9 months ago
@TheAlexagius The UK doesn't have crap gun laws. They are easy enough to obey. Oh, by the way, a few years back, my uncle got a .45-70 Gov't Rugar... semi-auto of course. Oh, and a few guys have old .58 Springfield muskets, which are fucking awesome to fire! Original ones too. To your responce on the 2 mile range on a .22, gravity is your friend. Use your math right and gravity will do the rest. A lot of maths involved in shooting actually...
naedanger123 9 months ago
@naedanger123 uk DOES have crap gun laws, semi autos in higher than .22 no hand guns no shotguns have a limited mag, no slugs, no autos. if you are shooting at that distance you'd be shooting big game not rabits as its far easyer to get closer, if your uncle has a semi auto he must have a class 5 permit from the home office to own a semi auto higher than .22m if its a LBR then its not semi auto(by law) so is ok. muskets are fun but so are say ar-15 which have to be stright pull not semi
TheAlexagius 9 months ago
@TheAlexagius Sorry, no handguns? What are you on about friend? Model 629 Smith & Weston .44? SIG P226 9x19mm? Those are both handguns owned by my father before. Hell, my uncle owns a shit-ton of guns! .357 Winchester, .45LC Single Action Army, TOZ-197 12 gauge shotgun (used to be my dad's), the list goes on and on!
naedanger123 9 months ago
@naedanger123 you remeber 1997? no hand guns were banned in that year? Do your uncle or father own a gun shop or are they ex or current police or military?
TheAlexagius 9 months ago
@TheAlexagius They don't own a gun shop. They aren't ex police or military. My uncle owns a Single Action Army, so maybe there is a law on the guns being a certain age? Also, UK gun laws are fine. If someone can't obey them, they shouldn't be allowed within 10 miles of a firearm. If you are a good, law-abiding citizen, you are fine (my father and uncle being Class 3 firearm license owners). My dad did do police work, so maybe that has something to do with it (training police in unarmed fighting)
naedanger123 9 months ago
@naedanger123 its its on old design, like muzzelloading or black powder its legal if its a new gun like a glock 21 its illegal exept in northan ireland, the thing which makes them bad in my opion is types of gun limited and you need lots of paperwork, and you have to store the gun seperate from ammo making it usless if you ever need it as it a real need like you get attacked in your home by a guy with a gun
TheAlexagius 9 months ago
@naedanger123 also do they live in northen irland? becuase pistols are legal there
TheAlexagius 9 months ago
@itinkgirlzhot12 then you're retarded the max range for a .22 is 1760 yards of course you have to compensate bullet drop but i doubt you new that

My neighbor in the Colorado Rockies was a hunting guide. Tracked cats. Told me they use .22 HP's to kill mountain lion, after they've been treed, with a heart/lung shot.
I'd never consider it as my first choice as a defensive weapon but in a pinch, I think 50 rounds of .22 are gonna stop ya.
junkiron1 11 months ago
The secret to using a .22 is practice, practice, practice. It's cheap enough to negate the cost factor, plus no kick so you can shoot all day. It's a low powered lightweight round so the key is bullet placement. With just a bit of practice one can become fairly proficient fairly quickly because the round doesn't intimidate the shooter.
