The Little Old Lady from Pasadena. I always loved the engines on these. A truly unique musclecar engine! It sounds like you have Tazmanian Devil under the hood!
I am curious, since I've watched the initial video and this one, Why on earth would anyone sell something like this. I mean, all of these early 60's big blocks had soul. A big one at that. You can't sell a soul.. The car was just brilliant, by the way. Congratulations on bringing it to that state. At least she'll survive for many years to come. Excellent work, I salute you and hope that one day your kids can recover it somehow. Maybe I can win the lottery and buy it from its owner for 2$ mil :|
Very feared street race car in its era. 427 Fords and 409 Chevies tended to steer clear unles "spotted" some carlengths. Any body remember the south Chicago street race scene of 1963? Nightime eliminations at 107th street in the forest preserves?
I remember seeing a 1963 red 330 sedan with the stage 111 426 with 13.5 to 1 compression trying to get started one night at the local drive in A&W. Had a hell of a time getting it to crank fast enough to get her to fire. But when fired GREAT!!
@marcusedell It didn't help that one of our basic tuning tools in that era was to arbitrarily advance the initial timing without changing the overall distributor max advance! The phrase "speed tuning" had just come into vogue and if you had the money dyno tuning was the ticket, but most of us just experimented on our own.
Well prepped 426 dodges seemed to run about a half second faster in the quarter to similar 409's and 427 Fords. The word Ramcharger instilled terror in those days!
@marcusedell lolol...naww...you are not a nerd with a car like this..loll. Can you believe it...when I was younger I had 2 Road Runners (68 with a 383 and a 69 with a Hemi) and a 69 GTX with the 440-6 pack. I kick my own ass weekly for selling them in 1970. I had a 64 dodge Savoy for 10 years as a race car...then got tired of it and sold that too..with a 426 wedge in it. BHeen thinking about getting back into racing for something to do. Do a GOOGLE search..MotorsbyShooter & YOU TUBE.. ShooterAoD
Is that a truck axle ? Looks kind of like the Dana rear on my truck trailer I use for yard work. It's an 80's Ford pick up cut down to a trailer. I got it for 80 bucks and found out it's got a Dana rear end and worth about 400 to 500 bucks. It's got 16.5 stock steel rims with 10 lugs. Tires were a hassle to find for it. I can't find any info from the serial numbers on it to get the gear ratio. Any idea how I could research it without taking it apart ?
I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs + injection and tank clean and rustfree
@RexCars1 Thanks man..it was actually the 11:1 motor.I ran 110 leaded in it.That got expensive in a hurry, I sold it a year ago.I had alot of fun playing with that car.My friend Denny Sander who owned the car before is a Big Mopar Guy, runs a 64 Polara in NHRA Stock, all steel car, stock 64 Maxie engine,4 speed, ran a best of 10.30
That is one beautiful car.I love it.Had alot of mopars but always passed them on for one reason or another.Have a really nice 69' Firebird now as I will NEVER have no car!I seem to remember 63's still having that pain in the ass splined rear? had one in my 59'Fury.They made it tough to do a brake job.Had to use a wheel puller to get the rear drums off.

@2vintage68 What a Bitchin story..Yeah those 13.5 to 1 Wedges took alot to crank over for sure, even with the awesome heavy duty Chrysler starters.
