  • So Stilly Demolition: How to Snatch Skyscraper

  • its so time consuming .

  • COOL!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • is that what you call DEMOLITION?

  • lol yeah good one

  • Is that the newadvert for "Floors to go"?

  • Wow

  • they did something similar where I live in Philadelphia, to the bank tower across the street from city hall that burned back in the 80s, except they didn't have the hydraulics. So they worked from the top down, floor by floor. It took years to get rid of that monstrous ugly run down thing!! But in the literal heart of a city across the street from a block-wide major landmark like city hall- you just can't implode things there. Floor by floor is SMART & safe.

  • Just for all the tards out there. Explosives are not fast. The physical building comes down in a few seconds but the planning takes forever and the cleanup of explosive demolition takes several times longer then any other method as you have to sort everything.

  • This is KC&D(Kajima Cut and Take Down) method.

  • @58mc ah. ic ic... but dynamite ish way cooler... but wait... wouldn't there also be a giant steel structure just sitting underground?

  • They are doing this cuz the buildings surrounding it are too close to each other.

the debris and smoke will be flying everywhere and sometimes in the nearby buildins when they implode the building

  • maybe they should have tried this technique with WTC7, might have been less obvious.

  • Don't be a dick

  • You're a DOUCHE

  • @tedmaulz

Dude, I am pretty sure the terrorists wanted to be noticed. Otherwise, what's the point of crashing two planes in to a building?

  • just Fake...not perfect but great job ;)

  • looks like a complete waste of time. just dynamite the thing and be done with it.

  • Asian are genius!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol that is weird

  • AHHHH that would take ffffooooorrrrreeevvvvvvvveeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrr

  • WTH???? is isnt a demolition!!! and why is the building sinking???

  • Wouldn't it just be easier to blow it up...I'm just sayin.

  • Oh yeah, genius idea. Let's go ahead and shut down several city blocks for a few days in a very populated area, and spend tens of thousands of dollars on clean up afterward.

    Come on, just think first.

  • Do you know how long would a conventional demolision takes to set up and execute? How do you know they have to shut down whole blocks with this method? or at least shut down more area than with conventional demolision? and how much less would the clean up from exploding and collapsing a building be? Then factor in how much safer this seems to be. mmm perhaps this is a viable alternative to conventional demolition after all? ya think?

  • Your entire comment makes no sense at all.

  • as opposed to the countless time and manpower it takes to do this?

  • Can you tell me how much more manpower and time this takes than conventional demo methods?

  • Comment removed

  • clean demolition.

  • are the pillars going underground or what?

  • wheres the fun in this :P

  • how the hell?....

  • They must slowly chip out the pillars from underneath..wierd

  • yea. i was wondering if they used water jets. you can see some stain forming from the underside.

  • Acid maybe? I dunno. Impressive nonetheless.

  • It's an expensive way to "demolish" a defunct building. But from purely an engineering point of view it's great!

  • that's suck's , there's no explosion.......

  • was the building damaged during its demolition

  • interesting method.

    safe for near buildings

  • 粉塵が飛び散らないし、こっちの方が解体早いんだろうね、すごぃ

  • whY??? it's really noios!

  • supa

  • This seems like it would be a more expensive way to demolish a building....it's a good idea though.

  • maybe more expensive but would assure buildings around it were undamaged

  • oh so it sink

  • 5 ebux to anyone who can tell me what song is playing? sounds like something from anarchy online.

  • nights interlude

  • I just don't get it. =S

  • Is it for real? WOW It's amazing!!

  • Without TNT it's not a demolition... :P

  • That seams like a very expensive, and slow way to do it.

  • whats with the sinking!?!?!never saw that technique before

  • Basically they destroy the building from the bottom and up, they take the bottom floor, add hydraulic pillars(the red ones in the video), lower, destroy next floor, lower, repeat, over and over, it's not as fast as shaped charges perhaps but in crowded areas it's far more efficient.

  • sorry thats 7 seconds then 33..

  • Well spotted!

  • Wow, you're right! Why did they do a loop if this is for real? That's very strange.

  • what loop do yuou mean

  • To answer your question, canadiancatgreen: a loop is a repetitrion of the same video material (can't explain any better - english is not my native language). You can recognise this loop for example if you stop at 0:07 and then again at 0:32 - it's exactly the same picture!

So I was confused why they do a loop if this is for real and they could just actually film the whole thing instead of pasting it together...

Makes it suspicious somehow so why do that?

  • not really the same if you compare their position.

  • this is a bull%$#@ loop...stop at 3 seconds then go to 30 seconds you'll see what i mean

  • OMG you should get your money back. The video still gets the point across...but you were after a medal weren't you?

  • then surely the orange things disappeared...

  • I walked in front of this very building (and its twin) everyday since last 6 months on my way to my office and wondered how it lost one or more of its floor from below every day or so. Literally counted the floors everyday. Great work pink.

  • This method takes cuts demolition time by 20%. Dealing with the waste is easier, too.. easier to recycle and less air pollution due to dust.

  • Now I get it! It is so simple I didn't realize it at first!

  • lol where'd the pillars go underground?

  • HOW does that work? :S :S :S :S

if those pink things are hydraulic cylinders.. just imagine what would happen if one of them malfunctions and failed =\

  • bleh stupidity ftl :(

  • Hey who are you ?!

  • hey my car was still under there!

  • where are the pilars going?

  • Looks like they're filled with some kind of liquid and being drained

  • what just happend?

  • People litter on the bottom floor and it is easier to lift the building for cleaning purposes than to send in 30-35 janitors. I used to work there.

  • hey, do I know you?

  • wtf is going on

  • The hell happend to those pillars?

  • i dont get it.

    what the fuck is happening

  • Sure blowing up takes a few seconds, but planning for it--by guarding the surrounding buildings, preparing it to fall down right, and then readying to clean it up, etc--takes months upon months, and is always risky, because surrounding buildings are usually damaged, and sometimes it just doesn't fall right. Here it probably takes just as long as planning to blow up does, yet there's no risk there, and it's probably cheaper too because you can move at machine efficiency.

  • How long is the time lapse?

  • What they spend on labour for an effort like this they likely save on insurance for an energetic demolition. This would make a very interesting time-lapse from a wider angle to watch the building settle.

  • this shit prob takes 4 months

blowing up takes 4 seconds :D

  • and how long does preparing, calculating and everything take?

  • nd cleanin it up in a city takes 5 months, so u got ur good nd ur bad...

  • real?

  • neato

  • how does it sink?

  • Those red columns are actually hydraulic cylinders.

  • wow amazing

  • mmmh ok :/

  • These are the same people that have given us Hello Kitty and Hentai porn. So nothing should come as a shock from the Japanese

  • :| WTF?

  • Does anybody know how long it takes to pull down an entire floor?

  • around 28 minutes. just kidding.

  • But why pink?

  • now you can walk down the sidewalk next to a building demolition without worrying about shrapnell and dust.

  • Amazing! My town Lima, has many outdated and dilapidated skyscrapers or building and little free space, maybe we should copy you Japanese....

    Cheers!

    Francisco

  • Well, based on the building name, it is probably in Japan, quite possibly Tokyo, Osaka, or Kyoto, In those areas, blowing up something wouldn't be feasible since there is very little free space between buildings, and demolishing one building quite possibly could cause problems for the nearby buildings. What I want to know is how they manage to do this.

  • the fastest way to destroy something is to blow it up. this cost to much money and time and time=money so that means more money lost...

  • Yeah but fuck ups = money + time + pissed off nearby building owners + deaths. LOL Sorry...You set me up! Maybe it was in a sensitive area. Usually they just implode it.

  • wow, you should be, like, a checkout engineer or something

  • i didn't expected that..

  • from what i see, those red things are pistons, they lower the building that way, break the floor push the pistons back up for support one at a time maybe....my thoughts

  • I think your right. Each piston or jack must be underneath the buildings vertical columns. When they cut out each floor, they probably cut each column and raise the piston back up. That's a good way to take down a building in a sensitive area. I'll bet it makes it easier to recycle the material.

  • wow... I feel really dumb.. I can't tell what the hell is going on. how do they do that?

  • My dad worked on a building in Regents Street, London., where they actually took out the whole of the inside of the building and left the front and back walls, then replaced the insides and refurbished the outside

  • Many years ago I saw footage of a guy who torn down industrial smokestacks one brick at a time. He climbed to the top shimmied around the perimeter, chipping off each brick and throwing it in the center. This video dredged up that memory.

  • Their taking down a building in London (next to London Bridge Station) from the roof down and lowering the rubble through the empty lift shafts, They built a tower crane up the outside first and are lowering the stuff down, also they aim to recycle a high percentage of the building, glass, steel and such like.

  • Nice, but the video is repeating again the lowering of the same floor. The nice thing would have been to see something like 3 floor for real.

  • This seems extremely labor intensive, expensive and dangerous. Although it would certainly be cleaner, quieter and less damaging to the surrounding buildings and environment.

  • it's not like they have better things to do instead :0)

  • It would be good to see the video slowed down at the time when the supports are inserted

  • I was in Tokyo recently so this does not surprise me much - dust, noise and the usual construction mess is not taken lightly there.

  • I wouldn't want to stand underneath that even with the jacks set up..

  • soundtrack: nightmares on wax
