  • Super great funk, we rocked it in Nigeria... Love it AND thanks for the upload! Nothing to hate except you are a toddler!

  • Disco is in the hizhouse. This is the jam.

  • George Michael can say thank you for OUTSIDE ! damn it !

  • Manheim 1975!

  • my favourite song. ♥

  • REAL GOOD MUSIC IT EXPLAINS ITSELF NO DOUBT

  • awesome music and the BEST era of music no doubt. To the 5 who didn't like this keep listening to Jedward you have no taste

  • Best music ever, I swear. Nothing like it today, all they have is garbage today. Bring this music back!

  • 5ive people really dislike this song...you must be living in a damn cave or something.

  • you'd have to be an asshole or a complete idiot to dislike this. Or deaf.

  • This is such a great dancing song I just Luv old School music like this it is so much fun and tantalizes your brain waves

  • I bought your albums, all members so talented. We need this music to make a huge come back. Rap, did to R&B what the 1980s did to pop, and R&B. Thanks for posting awesome music

  • The Boogie Down Bronx

  • When music was GREAT !

  • This song always got the party started. I've always heard that the initials GQ stood for Good Quality. Is this correct?

This group definitely had a style all of their own!! I believe they call it "swag" now.

    And yes I am semi-old!!!!

  • Abosolutely LOVE THIS takes me back to childhood!!!

  • Oh yeah, this was my jam!!

  • Valeu...... muito bom . Isso que é musica de qualidade .....

  • thx for posting that! I had this tune in my car on a sampler CD and did not replace that for years! Everytime i listen to that tune i dont get the bass line out of my mind.. and everytime i listen i am waiting for the big groove from 2:50 on. Love it, timeless.

  • Those who were around during this era and were swept away by the dance have so much now. Because of it. In our hearts. It brought true pure and innocent joy and remains with us. Especially when we listen again. Thanks @marcotifoso94

  • Love the guitar work!

  • Don't these guys also appear in the "It's so Cold in the D" video?

  • NOTHING BUT HAPPY MEMORIES....

  • I'll tell you, I lov the sound, as well as the soul in this track. Too bad that GQ didn't take this nugget to #1, and too bad they disappeared as soon as they arrived on the scene. They would've worked in The 80's; I'm almost sure of it.

  • very good It reminded me a very good time

Robson, Rio de Janeiro , Brazil

  • fukkin killed it!!!!

  • fuck yeah time 4 a beer

  • @tryby12 That is so damn true!!!!!!!!! How sad, huh? We had so much fun in the 70s!

  • people who say music like this is not made any more need to either listen to themselves or just get out more. This is a timeless classic of its era but we have to recall that people wrote off and lampooned disco music back in the 1970s and 80s saying it was crass.

  • Nope. Music like this isn't made anymore. The feeling is right and the music is tight on the disco niiiight...

  • I Love This Song and Im Young but I Love Real Music From the SOUL!

  • It goes to prove again how screwed up in the mind these young people are,

to say some asinine comment like that, half the young population is homhsexual,

and dont even think theres anything wrong with it, then come over here and talk shit about this music, oh this new world is pretty fu-ked up.

  • fag music

  • bass player dances like a...

  • @MrGriffitz you must be young....cuz this was a time when men could shake they hips and not have a gay bone in his body.....we used to know how to have fun....we used to know how to dance...we used to know how to sing.....sorry.

  • @siabroker: Well said !!

  • That's that old school, feel good music!! They don't make music like that anymore.

  • Keith sweat on keyboards

  • @PJizL was that really Keith Sweat

  • Heard this on the radio while scanning through channels and grooved out super hard. Had people looking at me, maybe because I 22 year old white boy looking really stupid. But man I can not help it when the beat hits me.

  • my favorite song of all time hands down

  • I definately agree with the above comment of the guy who works in the prison? As life goes on it seems money is everything, and thats when it turns into hatred!

Anyway this soul record is still great for me at 47.

  • *jives*

  • Groovy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @mrob75: I agree 100% with your comment. We had class and style and we knew how to have some real fun. Respect and love for one another. The women were real ladies and we guys knew how to carry ourselves in the presence of a lady. The memories are priceless. If anyone would have ever told me back then that this music would one day mean so much to me i would have never believed it.

  • LOVE THIS SHIT

  • GQ hit #12 in Billboard, 6-9-79. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • @umpire504 emmanuel raheim leblanc is the lead singers name.

  • This was a great time to love music. Song reminds me of T-Quillia's in L.A. Good time to be a young cat.

  • I'm trying to find the track GQ - Down . . . . . Anyone seen it?

  • haha this group is a joke. oh man. missed out of some of the best music eh? I shit myself laughing. They combined the worst styles of disco and soul and made cataclysmic events happen.

  • @crypticnivek How so? Can you explain?

  • @crypticnivek I kind of figured that, considering that you obviously don't know what the fuck you are talking about.

  • @crypticnivek you sound gay

  • I was 10 when this song came out. I remember watching these guy on Soul Train.

  • Dennis, I do hope you can play this sometimes, I remember flying from Houston to Dallas nearly every weekend so we could go out nad have a wonderful time remember when I took off all my clothes and jumped in the pool! i did not care, got to love the latin women we rock!!!!!!

  • Absolute quaility stamped through this monster, bass, fantastic melody, clear crisp voice, great backing vocals this killer track has it all.

  • If you like this and are not familiar with this group, check out "Standing Ovation" from their next album.....killer groove!

  • you guys are the best!!

  • im so loving this song!! it makes me wanna dance!!

thanks to hed kandi i found this cute funky song :)

  • In fact, check out the movie "The Big Chill" which came out around '83. Jeff Goldblum has a line in that movie "...name me a good song that has come out in the last 15 years...". That's the perfect reflection of how stuck people were on the 50's and early to mid 60's. Having said all that, I still say today's music that gets airplay does indeed suck compared to all the past in terms of musicianship--and we won't be changing our minds in the future.

  • Believe it or not, for those of you who don't remember the 70's, it was generally stated during that time that the music sucked. 50's mania along with the tv shows "Happy Days" and "Sha na na" and beatlemania were sweeping America. The fact that some of the 70's musicianship was equal or superior to some 50's and 60's standards was never stated. John Lennon famously said "...the 70's were a drag...". They were wrong, and we've only realized it since the 90's.

  • @smackthejokers: i was there too...we didn't even realize how amazingly talented artists were back then...we just loved the music as it played in the background & we being thoroughly engaged in whatever the present activity was. I know i sound like my father, but foreal, today's music is the most souless, cookie-cutter, untalented, image-driven, bunch of nobodys who are being paid 15 times more money than the worthy groups of yester-year - & the kids actually LIKE that ish ! sad

  • @btinsley1 !!! YES SIR... TOTALLY AGREE !!!!!

  • @ANGIELIMA: Then pop that thumbs up girl !!!

  • DENNIS FOREMAN THIS JUST BROUGHT BK GOOD MEMORIES I AM SURE U MARRIED A BEAUTIFUL LATIN WOMAN GOD BLESS U AND YOUR FAMILY

  • Four people have no freaking clue what good music is.

  • totally amazing band! gq rules!

  • This was the best of times in my life partying in Philly Jersey and NYC!!!!!

  • WOW! Headphones on, closing my eyes and dancing.... I am transported back 30 years to the time when yes..... all we wanted was to have a good time.... to dance each other off the floor and to just feel happy at the end of the night! Oh could I bring back those days......

  • Thirty plus years later this song still sounds great....

  • Damn this is a song you rollerskate too!

  • I can listen to song over and over and over its so sexy and full of energy that vibes big time!

  • hahaha look at dante frum tha 70s

  • Light a Doob an feel this Magic!!

  • those were the amazing times ....if only we can turn back time.....

  • I am generation X, I am glad to have grow up with some of my moms music, but I am also glas I got to experience, Tupac, Biggie, and Easy-E!

  • @XanderPush Gen X too here, born in 65...we straddled some decades with great music, leading to the early hip hop...I personally also had caribbean music to love and cherish...peace...

  • @1msbabygorback: Not just the good music yall missed out on....but the entire vibe in the air back then was different then today. People were happier and more at peace then today. Not trying to say everything was perfect but there was more laughter in the air and that feeling of freedom and less violence and hate. We were def more carefree and knew how to party and just chill. This generation is killing each other,i know not all but too many. I work in a prison full of youngsters,it's so sad.

  • @READY4REVELATION IM WITHU ON THAT FAM!

  • @READY4REVELATION - You're right, the 60s and 70s were great! Things started changing for the worse in the 80s. When I visited my home state, I took my daughters to see my high school. It used to be an open campus and we could come and go as we pleased. Now, it's completely fenced in...a fence around the entire school. Kids used to visit other campuses during lunch breaks. I bet that doesn't happen anywhere anymore. We've lost a lot of the small freedoms we used to enjoy.

  • @READY4REVELATION And I also remember a sense of pride and "class" in the way we GROOMED and DRESSED UP to go out dancing!!!! We proudly wore our very best to hang out with our friends and just dance and have a good time. Remembering this great music and time makes me feel good to be "old"...Ha! Great memories!

  • @READY4REVELATION Wow, that's really heavy. Sad but true.

  • GREAT SONG.....I STILL HAVE IT ON TAPE...LOL

  • @t2t3456 I still have my copy on vinyl...lol.

  • @StarX81 LOL...wow....

  • @crowcopper

This would have been a good song for Heatwave!

  • and all it takes

  • When was this hit song first released?

  • @diuga1 1979

  • @perpetual61 Thanks.

  • They used real instruments back then...

  • generation Y has no clue what they missed out on...unless they search for it on youtube of course

  • thanks for posting the video Marcotifoso94, I still think 'Standing Ovation' is their best sound though!

  • i love this song, they were really jamming on that bass!

  • i love the bongo tom combo nation...solo

  • I defy anyone who listens to this, it you are not up and dancing, you must be bopping around in your chair!!! So many memories and this track brings back some of the best! Right on up there!

  • OH BOY, NOT THE BREAK DOWNM ROCK FREAK! HA HA HA

  • @Ms1buzzkill RIGHT ON!!!!

  • Hey kids, go learn bass guitar, drums, percussion, brass, keyboards, or an instrument of your choice. Master it and make great music, which you'll make for a lifetime, instead of being at the mercy of your record company's whims (mostly based on your looks). Let's get back to reality and look up to real musicians (ugly or pretty) instead of shallow and inane record company products manufactured for a quick buck.

  • damn....i almost put on my roller skates listenin to this!!!!!

  • We need to stop all new music......turn the clock back to 1975 to 1985 and keep it there.....with all music.........the best decade by far !!!!!!.

  • holy crap - the music sounds almost like Daft Punk - except GQ do this with actual instruments!

  • It is very easy to get lost into dis music........Where Am I???? It Feels So Good

  • I met him when he played in the Indigo2 where I was working. nice guy

  • Oh yeah!!!!!

    more funk down your alley!

  • i wonder what ever happen to these guys did fall off the charts

  • 3 haters don't know how to get down. Billboard's #76 hit of '79. GQ hit #1 soul, #12 pop,in Billboard. God bless!

  • @PugSleasy Believe it or not, the first time I heard this song was only 10 years ago! It was pricey in certain areas of course, but if you looked around you could find something nice(and affordable). It was so fun to just ride around on a bike, with the sun on your face, all the palm trees, classic cars, classic songs(like this), and of course the girls!...Its really a place unlike any other...

  • The first time I heard this song I was living in L.A. The weather is nice and warm and classics like this are on the radio ALL the time. Its practically paradise! ;)

  • Wow, I swear the guy that first appeared at the beggining of the video look like Lorenz Tate.

  • Amazing~ GQ is Forever!!

  • oh great, (sarcasm) the only place i can go out and enjoy disco music is disney world.

  • Bell Bottoms in ATL used to rock REAL MUSIC like this! They messed up and closed it down! Now we're all doomed to R&B sound alikes! YIKES!

  • @SweetestSerenity74 YOU SAID IT!!!!!

  • 1020 grand concourse. Use to come home and you were always waiting outside the recording studio how r u

  • Does anyone know of any clubs that still play disco music?

  • @veeseee128 In Orlando, FL you can go to downtown disney and they have club for 70's music.

  • this song still rocks. I dont care what the haters think. I could go to the club and still dance off this.

  • disco and new

  • what ever happen to the days when you just wanted to get out and dance, have fun, not pressure to find someone to have S_X with,,,,just plain pure fun, dancing , drinking but not to where you are stupid, music to dance to,,, not music to hump to,,,,and straggle some one's leg,I went out to a bar,, dance club, that is what they called it, well lets just say,, everyone on the floor needed to a room. what has happen to us/

  • Back in the late 70's, my 1st concert was Rose Royce w/ GQ as their opening act. At the time GQ was already known so it was a two for one and to top it off it was at the Phoenix Symphony Hall. Proud and blessed to say that during my youth I went to almost every R&B concert that came through Phoenix . Nothing like watching bands like Cameo, Lakeside, Confunkshun, War, Bar-Kays and The Dazz Band performing their latest hits. Simply the best era of music...

  • @Jamaya64

Wow, I must say I'm very jealous! Everyone of those groups you saw are what I grew up on. Never seen any of those I was only about 7 or 8 years old but I loved this time in music! R&B especially! I'm still groovin' to it!

  • this like EVOLUTION compared to todays tired, pretentious music LOL!

  • soo FUNNY and FUN!

  • WOW, FINALLY I found out who did this. Always heard it on the radio on friday nights and would BLAST IT. SO happy right now :)))))

  • simply timeless JAM
