  • Yeeaahh. "Run it off, mothafucka"

  • Comment removed

  • I hate when someone is mistaken for having a gun to realize he pulling out an inhaler :'( stuff like that gets to me :'(

  • @bulletshotfromgun ya pues cabreate o mata al escritor

  • I never noticed the kid's asthma inhaler is sitting right there next to his dead body. Classic.

  • I like how he points the gun at his soldiers with his finger inside the trigger guard.

  • stringer would have found that shit unacceptable. he wouldn't let someone leave the game. avon is a man. over all, good guy. stringer is kinda harsh. avon even gave him $ for his boxing equipment.

  • Cutty was one of the best characters. Fucking great story.

  • How damn tall is Charles like 7 ft?

  • i love how slim just rolled up on that muthafucca n smoked him real easy no words

  • That was a shame! I was hoping that cross-eyed nigger got a good dose of led. I hated that motherfucker!

  • @FUCKxUxNxURxMOTHERx2 Hope I'm not spoiling anything for you, but Fruit gets smoked later for different reasons.

  • @ballsaq

    I saw it!

  • Cutty couldnt kill fruit...he used to teach him boxing...cmon now.

  • @ATSV4ME You high or somethin?

  • @ATSV4ME LMAO. Was that supposed to be a joke?

  • 2:21 well if the bronchitis don't kill you.......

  • @mufc187 he choose to play the game live by the gun die by it the street rules

  • Dayum slim with no hesitation! Just like he did cheese aha .Its all in the Game!

  • The amount of respect in the last scene is what really sells it. Cutty has to be straight up and accept the responsibility for the failed hit, he can't let Slim take the blame so he exposes his own doubts and weaknesses. Then when Avon assumes he only want out of soldiering, instead of losing his patience and saying, "Nah you ain't hearing me!" He respects Avon so he calmly says, "I'm not making myself clear." Always accepting responsibility for the situation. He a man today, he a man...

  • I love the second when the camera shows Avon fiddling with the gun in his hand at 1:05 . Its like he was trying to reassure himself. I am a gangster! I gotta take back my corners! Don't I? His hesitation and frustration shows a lot about his character and how he was trying to readjust to being king again, but with much less power. I think my favorite thing about the Wire is that in addition to superb story and dialogue, it still manages to communicate so much by showing, not telling.

  • Love Cutty's gangster gear at 2:38, that leather Kangol is tight.

  • haha i can hear idris elbas london accent coming through what a fucking ledgend

  • Dennis Cutty Wise..my favourite character.

  • "He a man" -Avon

  • I love how Avon uncounsiously gunpoints Slim and Cutty when he ´s giving them orders lol

  • ay, cómo me gusta The Wire!!!! just good tv.

  • @dawnofthethirdworld this is a deep philosophical scene, i must say. a non-conformist. a man who always feels out of his element. damn. the wire is like a novel. an excellent narrative.

  • I bet Marlo bitch ass wouldve killed Cutty tryna leave the game unlike Avon who admitted that Cutty was still a man

  • @Theghot791 True that, true that.

  • Its great how Avon said "he a man today, he a man" its not many thugs that understand it takes a man to not pull a trigger and run the game they do. Respect for Avon. The Wire was one of the greatest shows ever. Far superior then The Sopranos in many respects.

  • @DeuceMP2 LOL the sopranos. I've watched it and loved it, but this requires another kind of intellect. This is far superior. I get your point though.

  • @DeuceMP2 . the wire and the sopranos are the best shows ever. cant compare them though cause sopranos is more artistic while the wire is more straight up reality. both are legends though.

  • @thaistomp I agree, whereas Tony would have handled Cutty's (or one of his men) leaving the organization the way he did with contempt and anger, Avon handled it like some people would, w/ understanding.

  • @DeuceMP2 I think both shows are equally as good. It's like comparing two amazing beers, neither is better than the other.

  • @torontoBluejays87 True, true.

  • @torontoBluejays87 I personally rate The Wire as (slightly) higher than the Sopranos as there isn't as the writing is so tight, not a scene wasted whereas the Sopranos does tend to wander a bit in places. You are right though, both amazing shows.

  • @PrawnToucher Before I say anything, I do love both shows. One could also make the argument that The Wire tends to get away from the policing realism in the later seasons. The first and second season were for me, the best of the police stories. I do love the wire though, so many actors on that show should have been heavily rewarded for their roles and unfortunately were not. The character of Tony Soprano was not only brilliant by Gandolfini but will be studied for years and years to come.

  • I think Cutty gave Lex some free boxing lessons.

  • I always taught Fruit would come back to kill Cutty in the boxing gym.

  • "I don't know, but it can't be this"

  • -he was a man in his time u know?

-he a man today. he a man.

  • great scene

  • Always wanted Cutty to get Fruit, that Kangol wearin fuck

  • chad coleman played this role brilliantly the whole 3 series he was in it.

  • Avon understood Cutty and let Cutty be free and let him go cuz Cutty and Avon were like best friends in their crew and in the game itself.

  • Avon had a feeling prison might have broke Cutty

  • This was my favorite scene. This is the greatest show of all time. Very high quality.

  • I love how Avon wasn't a psycho and understood Cutty .. and let him go his own way .. Marlo would never have let that happen.

  • The game is rigged dawg

  • "He a man today."

  • Comment removed

  • @balistik94 I think you're mistaken.

  • Love how Avon grants Cutty his "resignation". No treats, no arguments. I guess Avon has got tons of respect for what Cutty previously did for the organization. "He a man today."

  • That "little boy" that slim shot is not innocent. He was part of that group of corner boys, led by fruit, who attacked a barksdale corner with bats and clubs and beat them senseless. He was in the game too. Fuck how old he was, that's the game right?

  • That's the great things about Slim Charles, his humility. He never boasts, he takes the rap when he feels like he should take it, and he gives respect where respects do. Those are the traits of a good leader.

  • Cutty leaves but, the game is the same.

  • Cutty say 'e can't HANG!

  • Love how Slim Charles tries to cover for Cutty. He definitely knew Cutty didn't have it in him anymore. But still, he has so much respect for Cutty and his street rep. This kinda shit is why I love this show so much.

  • i know how cutty feelin i was i the game my self but it comes to a piont when u say fuck this life espeailly when you get married and have kids my kid seen that the dark side of me and it scare men u feel me just life cutty said the game aint in me anymore the money was gravey but my family and watch my boys go to jail or dead and me goin to jail behind that like i wasnt brokin i just want to be there for my wife and kids dont get twisted i know how to get down if my famiy get hurt

  • Aye thats that nigga from "Paid In Full" & "Next Day Air". He always acting in some hood shit, thats wassup though.

  • "He a man today."

  • marlo wud of killed cutty ass

  • I feel sorry for that kid that Slim shot.

  • When Avon is pointing a gun at you'r face and saying "Get it right" you know things are serious

  • @ikosabre

    Two things:

    1) Avon is clearly crazier and more violent after spending over two years in prison

    2) He never would have waved a gun in the face of Wee-Bay or Stinkum; they were at least as tough as him

  • That guy acting Cutty KILLS this fuckin' scene.

  • it feels great to see people do better in shows

  • avon could say anything and make it sound cool

  • lol yall saying omg kid got killed becuz he had ashmatic attack, the kid was a gang banger and he shoulda know better than to chill with dudes like fruit or something, didnt he pop some other KID aswell??

  • i like how slim automatically thought it was his that cutty didnt make the shot

  • The end of this clip may be one of the greatest scenes in the history of television.

  • @groffo12345 that kid is a dick, he deserved it

  • BARKSDALE HE A MAN TODAY

  • @Jgjekaj he wanted to be part of the game and he lost

  • @virtigo87 The main reason for Avon letting him go scot-free was because Avon already had an inkling that Cutty was ready to change. He actually told Wee-Bey that he thought the joint broke Cutty, but Bey convinced him that Cutty was still the same. Cutty just told Avon what Avon already suspected.

  • @yawnn112 That and Cutty looked him in the eye and said what was on his mind. If you are straight up, you can do nothing but respect that, even if it is something you are not trying to hear.

  • Everyone love Slim Charles, even though he murdered this asthmatic kid in cold blood.

  • @mufc187 fucker deserved it

  • @mufc187 After watching the scene again, I'm not sure Slim was even planning to kill the kid -- the target was Fruit. When the boy reaches for his inhaler, Slim thinks he's going for a gun and then shoots him. It's not entirely clear, but that's how I see it anyway.

  • @mufc187 I thought he was just faking, and he was about to pull out a piece

  • @mufc187 hahahaha shit ur so right thats what i was thinking , i was like what a cunt for killing that kid, then after as he just talks u forget about it and just think what a cool dude

lol im glad this just a tv show so i can think like that

  • @mufc187 The game is the fuckin' game. Period.

  • @mufc187 yeah that was pretty sad, even though that kid was beatin on sum1 wit a bat when the rest of the crew stopped

  • @mufc187

Thankfully that asthmatic boy ISN'T AS INNOCENT AS WE ALL THOUGHT! In an earlier episode the boy participated in the beating of several of Barksdale crew.

He himself pulled out a bat and beat a member of Barksdale.

In other words he was CLEARLY a rival gang member (with that fool Marlo). Now I'm not saying that he deserved to get shot down for this. Just saying he wasn't just some boy minding his own buisiness. He's no choir boy.

  • @mufc187 the game is the game nigga!

  • @mufc187 Yeah, it was wrong, but when you lie down with dogs you wake up with fleas. That kid should've known that his age was no exception when living that lifestyle. And Slim, Cutty, Avon, and everyone else knew it.

  • Stringer was right, they should have waited and built their muscle.

  • slim a straight up G

  • AVON BARKSDALE = LEGEND

  • @wjk2109 he aint got shit on Omar tho lol

  • I wonder if anyone noticed after cutty leaves, there's an awkward moment between avon and stringer. At that point in the show, their relationship is really strained, I'm sure that avon was thinking about turning the gun on stringer because he was bringing him down too much.

  • Avon:What you sau man, whats up?

    Stringer:Nothing man, nothing at all

  • look at 2;40 the dude took out an inhaler

  • I love the way Cutty put it. "I ain't making myself clear..." A lot of the other characters would have let their egos get in the way, would have said something like "You're not understanding me." Not Cutty, he had that respect for Avon, and understood the kind of waters he was treading on. Smart, stuck to his guns, a real man.

  • @ntubed I always thought that's also why Namond was able to leave the game without getting it hard from his friends - he took care of his own business without interfering with the game. (It helped that he had backup [Bunny and his wife], but that said, I actually think that though his story arc in a lot ways does mirror D'Angelo's it also mirrors Cutty's - boy wanted out of the game and didn't know how to, but when the time was right he did it like a man.)

  • @ntubed they're interchangeable phrases. no one actually stops and dissects it in mid conversation and thinks "is he trying to slight me?"

    stupid theory you got.

  • @zackhanscom Thank you for your opinion.

However, if you watched the show, you'd probably know that Avon was all about respect on the corners, and that he would be they type of guy who would pay very close attention to the way he was addressed.

Also if you could please refrain from calling my theory stupid, I would appreciate it. I know we can all express our opinions here, but I felt a bit slighted with your word choice.

  • Best show in History of entertainment, BUT so real! The emotion in some scences is to make ya cry, laugh, be mad,etc.. HBO gets a AAA+ for this.. 5yrs its like I lived it in BAltimore City! (and I use to work in baltimore) but the show felt close to reality!

  • cutty coulda at least shot fruit in the ass lol shit i would've no homo

  • Avon Barksdale - "Ima go do this shit my damn self"

Damn I would loved to see Avon put a bullet in Marlo's Head....That would be EPIC

  • The Wire is art on film.

  • greatest show ever made. ever.

  • @stephenlockard Agreed. I used to watch 4 or 5 episodes back to back like it was nothing. This shit was so addictive.

  • @stephenlockard

In in year 2500, this will still be the best show ever made.

  • Avon was the shit thats why I respected him so much on the show....He let Cutty leave the game in peace and then helped him out with his boxing gym to get him moving ahead in Life now thats a tru Gangsta in my book strong and loyal with respect....String and Marlo would have had Cutty killed for doin that shit.

  • marlo had that nigga avon out his hookup.

avon just came home and trying to go back on stupid shit.

  • @suaveG216 Pride is a sin. See where it got Avon.

  • @Propz74 Sins aren't real though, you moron.

  • @thegreenblazer1 You are obviously an internet gangster.

P.S. They have internet in the hood?

  • "Same as it ever was"

Note how Stringer quotes the Talking Heads' "Once In a Lifetime" song; the eternal anthem for economists. A real classy motherfucker.

  • The game is the motherfucking game, period. Same as it ever was.

  • slim was blazin doe

  • THE GAME BE WHAT IT BE, WHEN THE WIRE CAME OUT I WAS KNEE DEEP IN THE GAME IN WEST ADAMS, LOS ANGELES HANGIN' BANGIN' AND SLANGIN'. I FOUGHT GUNFIRE FOR DECADES, UNTIL I WOKE UP IN THE STATE PEN AND DID THE SAME THING CUTTY DID. I RECLAIMED MY LIFE, WHILE MY NAME WAS STILL GOOD AND WALK OUT THE GAME A MAN.

  • @MaddRonald2020

Good luck to you mate .All the best .

  • Last I saw Jerard he was racing bullets on Fayette St...he appeared to be winning too. Classic. Funny shit right there

  • That's why I respect Avon so much more than Stringer... he had principles and loyalty, Stringer was all about himself.

  • Love this scene....shows a different more mature side of Avon that you don't normally see...dude let Cutty go freely and gave him money to do the boxing thing....that's respect right there...

  • That kid was reaching for his pump. At first i thought he had a piece on him and the coughing was just to throw them off.

  • is it me or when stringer and avon was talkin, avon lookd like he was contemplatin on shootin stringer bum azz afta slim and cutty left

  • Cutty was smart for doing that cause look what happened to a majority of the crew. They were either killed or got sentences.

  • @honeybaker1 After serving 14 yrs of his life for a murder he called the police himself on, Cutty's heart was already out of the game before he hit the streets for good. He got back in the mix once he saw what his options were. Once he realized that he had more to offer to society & himself, it wouldn't take much to opt out, and Avon was wise enough to see that. Cutty's love for boxing & wanting to help the next generations out of the game became his life mission & could not be denied...

  • now cutty is a double standard ass nigga he shot one but couldnt do the other fuck cutty s bitch ass fruit is the nigga that robed him and he gave him a pss lol

  • @stockton26

Wtf? You watching the same scene as everyone else or not?

  • @dr0504 yes this sum d standard

  • @stockton26

That made no sense to me mate.

Anyway the person too shot and killa the 1st guy is Slim Charles not Cutty. Cutty then has Fruit in his sights but lets him go because "the game ain't in me no more"

  • Cutty should have atleast put one in Fruits ass....make him feel it.

  • This is why Avon was one of my favs he had morals and respect for what the game was he let not only a man and soldier walk out the game with his life but he understood where his friend was coming from looooove Avon,Bodie,Slim Charles,Dee,Cutty they were the shit Fuck bitch ass Marlo and his psychotic crew

  • two sexy muthafukkers

  • Imagine if Avon had Charles and Cutty, BUT still had Stinkum, Wee Bey, Bird, and Savino.

Tell me Marlo would have even had the balls to step to him.

  • Avon was in remember the Titans ,next day air, above the rim.....

  • slim stretched that lil nigga out

  • LISTEN TO YOU CLOWNS TRYING TO KICK SOME SCIENCE, OVER A T.V. SHOW, WRITTEN BY A WHITE GUY, IT IS NOT THAT DEEP, IT'S A GREAT SHOW, BUT THAT'S ALL IT IS, ACTORS ACTING, PEACE!

  • @carlhil2 Idiot, good writers actually put shit into their writing that you have to think about. Sure most these people on youtube are retards about it but that doesn't mean there isn't anything for interpretation.

  • @carlhil2 lol seems like u takin it more serious that the peoples..lol, calm down

  • so the kid pulled out an asthma inhaler!?

  • the boy who got killed looked like Brandon

  • Its too bad for Avon that Cutty left the game, cause a Charles/Cutty combo I bet would have been able to take out Marlo's crew.

  • @Killoea chris partlow showed more ability to destroy than anyone besides Omar. I love cutty and charles, wee-bey for that matter, but Chris was like a green beret.

  • was this before fruit robbed cutty for his stash?

  • This is the difference between Avon and Marlo. If Cutty was Marlo's solider and wanted out of the game, Marlo would have Cutty killed.

    Avon had morals, Marlo didn't.

  • Fruit was like im outta here

  • slim charles fav chractor

  • Avon is way doper than marlo.

    lol nigga fumblin at 1:40

and always pointin sigs at his people n shit

  • barksdale gang was formed in the 70's...all these old ass gangstas

  • respekt

  • Slim Charles is my favorite character on the Wire. He's one of the few drug characters to survive the whole series.

  • @jbuugi he;s one of my favorites also. he deserves the connect. the most hardest and most gangsta and most loyal.

  • @jbuugi also poot

  • and takes over at the end too,hes my fav aswell

  • fruit must of seen it was cutty ,the guy he ripped with the g-pack.

  • LOL @ Slim Charles car on the creep

  • How so because he fucking knows correct english.

  • "he a man today"

  • i wish cutty killed fruit

  • @MPtheDonn it didnt matter cause fruits obnoxious ways got him killed eventually anyway

  • I usually do not leave comments. There are too many fools on the internet. I am not white and I grew up in section 8. I sold drugs in my hood and in school. I made it out alive because God gives everyone a choice. I did not go to prison because I moved to Georgia. My brother lived there. He made me an offer. If I stayed in VA, I would have been locked up or dead. You made a fool of yourself being presumptuous.

  • When cutty goes "none of it" i thought he was dead, and if it had been marlo and not avon we all know he would've been

  • GOD gives everyone a choice........

  • Avon: what happened?

Slim: we shot a unimportant little boy.

    Avon: good work

  • It's called GTA San Andreas lol. Great show

  • who was the two people that got chalked?

  • The driver and Country. Country had a minor role in season 2 but the other dude was a nobody

  • He shoulda shot that thieving motherfucka
