  • Nigel Kennedy was unique and so ws Mik Kaminski what is Mr Wright on about what a cheek?

  • didnt he perform in ELO?

  • Great video!

I linked it in my blog, for a review of the Spanish 7" single press of Clog Dance, called Zapateado.

    thank you very much.

  • violinski as talent wrighty, and you have not you big fat horrible moronic bastard

  • well for once only this hasbeen the only time i agree with every comment on this page mick kaminski should have booted him in the balls for that clog dance is a catchy wee number good ole mick

  • Steve Wright=moron.....starts sniggering after asking the first question to his guest for no bloody reason at all on his show

  • Worse than someone taking a shit in my mouth.

  • No band can be terrible when they have a southpaw playing guitar. And Steve Wright is way off base with his assessment.

  • elo turned it down as non-commercial whooppssss big mistake

  • steve right started off at radio 210 in reading berks thank god he left he was a waste of air time the sooner he retires the better

  • ok its not the best...but Steve Wright, total pillock. I think Wright should be, as matey above says, showered with shit every day. Radio 2? A hellhole of hasbeen twats.

  • Love Violinski - Hate Steve Wright!

  • John Hodgson (The drummer with curly hair and mustache) is a drum teacher at my school :)

  • I brought this on a 45 rpm vinyl single recently. My 6 month old son loves it, so do I.

  • Steve Wright=WANKER!! What the frig does he know? He sits there putting CDs on! Mik has been in arguably the greatest band of all time...ELO, when Nigel Kennedy was in short trousers....tosser!

  • It should have been released as ELO, who knows? It could be their only #1 single?

  • How can Steve Wright say this was terrible - There was stuff round then that were lot more uneducated than this!

  • Thanks very much, Banzai, for helping me discover this. Truly music to speed-eat fish fingers to.

  • what the hell is steve wright on about here this song was class i used to like steve wright with the funny show years ago with mr angry damian the sociel worker but these comments he put here as put me right off the guy saying this is terrible is an outrage

  • Steve Wright is the most irritating DJ. He is a sad twat who thinks he's funny and nearly ruins the videos because of his extremely irritating voice. GET RID OF HIM!!

  • "Terrible!" says the BBC turd. I can't find anything wrong with it.

  • Is it sad it took until halfway through the video before I realised that no-one was going to start singing?

Oh, and I've heard terrible music and terrible music this is not! :)

  • this is , in a word, hellish.

  • i love this its fab,and so were elo fav band ever and steve wright is great and he does not have the same taste in music as the rest of us.jammin.liz.

  • Steve Wright is a self-important prick who tries to make clever comments and force his opinions down other people's throats and fails miserably.

  • Why did he choose to play it if it was terrible?

  • It actually does sound a little like ELO, it's interesting. It's like Irish Music with a modern twist :D

  • You folks don't seem to get it. NONE OF YOU. What REALLY happened here is that Kaminski's mic failed the sound test and they let the show go on anyway. You couldn't hear the solo instrument because the mic wasn't picking it up. OF COURSE it sounded bad! The sound techs didn't do their jobs!

  • steve wright as said it again.. you slag folk off wright. who do you think you are.. you are a left wing critising knob.. take a look at your self wrighty. oh and take a look at your horrible radio 2 show... lets have a vote here.. keep dale winton ( he does a dam good show ) and hang steve wright in the bbc reception... you mongrel... sorry people thats not fair on our beloved pets..

  • Steve Wright, what talent do you have?... Can you play the violin like Mik Kaminski. You moronic twat!

  • @nik1969100 hear hear, and i think it shows his talent that the fact that we can hear him at all!

  • Didn't the violin guy get sacked from ELO ?

  • @Damoskinos no he didnt

  • Pity it was spoilt by Steve Wright's negative comments. I think the viewing audience can make up their own minds whether they like it or not. We can do without his idiotic comments.

  • @Feisty1967 he always was a dick head, his afternoon show on R1 all those years ago was a load of shite

  • Mr John Hodgson on drums! My old mucker! Now with cherry picasso! Check em out on you tube! Very different to Violinski!

  • i heard that the violin he has is 1 of a kind

  • The world was just not ready for Violinski yet.

  • Rerporex, liverpoolshoes, gingerginger209 have tried to block all of my e-mail accounts, but I'm still here, fighting to live yet another day!! All of you go and block those accounts I've affore-mentioned. He's a fucking Scouse bastard.

  • Is anyone else thinking. Trevor francis.

    'Well i have to say'

  • I bought this as a white vinyl 45 when I was 10!

Thought I was quite ahem, cool at the time ;o)

    Must dig it out...

    Love ELO too.

  • this just reminds of Quo

  • Top of the Pops 2: Ruined by 2 things, those pointless witless info. bars & that utter prat Wright who quite simply made it unwatchable.

  • reminds me off going to St Andrews. Pretty sure they used to play this at birmingham city before games.

  • Steve Wright is half right. ELO were briliant but this is ok *not terible.

  • The thing I ask is what is Steve Wright? he is just a DJ or what I prefer to call them Radio Presenters. For his information Mik is not trying to be Nigle Kennedy on this track it is just a bit of a novalty record which I thjink was released for the Christmas market, if he put him self out to listen to some of the solo's Mik did with ELO including "THE FIGHT OF THE BUMBLE BEE" he will hear that Mik could match what Kennedy could play.

  • I remember Mik´s Violinski project began nearly the same time ELO was huge. This sounds good I just don´t know hoe to rate in the categorie in the pop music.

Is it that. I know ELO bassist Mike De Albuquerque played in Mik´s band.

  • Personally, I'd like to smash that fucking stupid blue violin over Mick Kaminsky's head, and then kick Steve Wright's face off. How's that for fair mindedness?

  • Mik is currently playing this on The Orchestra UK tour. I saw him performing it at Bilston last night.

My video will be on You Tube soon

  • I saw them live last night. they were great

  • Who is Steve Wright to say that this tune is terrible? It's no worse than the shit he pollutes the airwaves with between 2-5pm weekdays on Radio 2!

  • steve wright sucks the sweat of a dead mans balls.

  • steve wright should be shot with shit, daily. 1400 till 1700, bbc radio 2 .

  • Steve wright is a wanker(no -that presupposes a lvel of co-ordination to which he can only aspire)

  • @mickb55

    Ha Ha Ha!

    Excellent comment my friend.

  • The drummer is now my younger brother's percussion teacher, and a colleague of one of my older brothers.

  • I met Mik in an Orchestra concert in Jersey. Really nice guy.

  • A friend of mine owns that violin. ;)

  • Great music, but bad name "VIOLINSKI" .

    Mike de Aberbuquerque said this

Excelente musica, pero VIOLINSKI es un nombre horible, lo fue y siempre lo sera

  • Oh the memories this brings back!

    Thanks Mik.

  • Violinski Rule! And I was only 2 when this came out! But I am currentley writing new music with the drummer Mr John Hodgson, who incidently was the percussionist for Rick Wakeman in the early 70's!

  • this is not terrible how can he say that!!!!!!!!!!

  • Its Steve Wright thats terrible. Not this!!

  • this is so brilliant it is amazing mik is the best.

  • SO EPIC. And our lil Mik is so adorable. LOL.

  • This song rules.

  • Mick Kaminski and co. Good little tune. Someone tells me he lives near me in Leeds.

  • I bought this classic 7" with my pocket money. Loved it then and still love it now!

  • Was this chaps name Mick Kominski? Or have I just made that up 'cos it rhymes with Violinski?

  • This was a groundbreaking piece of music and a confident performance on the now defunct totp. It is recordings such as these which make me yearn for simpler times, when the violin player from ELO could go straight into the chart at number 17. I'm sure we can all remember the first time we heard this masterpiece.

  • Who does Steve Wright think he is? A disc Jockey?!? Brilliant piece which brings alive a classic Brass Band piece with electronic influences. PERFECT!!!

  • @Littleswamp1 That's interesting, I didn't realise it was a brass band piece. The Floral Dance in an interesting recording (the Brighouse and Rastrick Band) was also a big hit. Both have memorable and nostalgic sounding themes. Both were also hits around christmas and have a bright happy and so festive feel possibly, the twinkling quiet ending to the Clog Dance sound very christmas.
