  • Hey, love the vids :).

But I would like you to test out an extremely cheap mic, like a 30 dollar mic, just to hear the difference in quality.

I for one would find it really interesting :)

  • Are those AKG 271 or 171?

  • Hi Mark,

    Nice video's!

(sorry for my bad English) I have bought this mike too and heard some strange sounds in it. I don't know if it is a defect, or an undocumented feature :) When I tune the audio at - let's say - allmost 0dB with normal speech, I hear a soft grainy noise in my headphones with some rumble. It's at a very low level (-50dB), but noticeable. I couldn't hear that in your video, but's it's Youtube... Was your mike clean and silent? Another thing was, that I needed a lot of gain...

  • for this mic do you need to get your own phantom power supply?

  • Its a great mic definately

  • This vid has 480p, which gives it the best audio for YouTube. Just do whatever you did for this vid. The image is fine, and not really important anyway. I fon't think that 720p and above give you any boost in audio quality.

  • I wonder how this microphone fares against the Electro Voice RE20.

  • This microphone fits your voice well. It sounds really good.

  • keep up the good work!!!

  • Well, I can see why BLUE would recommend for broadcasting... that thing sounds great! Good pipes on that announcer too... important, of course, LOL.

  • The sound of your voice changes at 5:09 into the video, subtle but it does sound a bit more open and lively after that. Still looking forward to you reviewing the Sonotronics STC-80, and an Audix OM-3. :)

  • Aphex 2020 MkIII is a 4 band processor, though you said 5. Good video as usual. I second VideoViper, the mic is lacking in crispness in comparison to many other mics. For a certain few people though, that could be just what the doctor ordered. I also wouldn't buy it though. It's quite easy to muffle a microphone with an EQ, but often sounds bad trying to gain up stuff a bunch that doesn't happen naturally.

  • @uncajesse

Hey Jesse! I'll chalk up the band number to old age ; )

Have to admit that I enjoyed the overall sound of the mic, possibly for the same reason both you and Viper dislike it.

I'm with you on the EQ. ...never use it for the casts

That's why people keep buying mics and manufacturers give us new sounds. A different sound for every taste, job and voice/instrument.

    Best,

    Mark

  • Indeed, it sounds good, but it's a live application mic. I would love to try it in a gig.

  • Hey Mark, What Is Compression? And Could I Do This With A Software On A PC?

  • Sure is boomy sounding, not very crisp. sounds best talking into it from the side.

    I wouldn't buy it.
