I'm pretty sure he covered it in alcohol, perhaps some perfume. Me and my friends did it when we stayed over someone's house. An easy way to do it is put some alcohol (or cologne, like what we did) on the sink (or a table, etc.) and put the alcohol on our hands, then light the table, and dip our hands in the fire. We used Brut, which is this weird cologne, and you can hold it up to five seconds and it'll start hurting then. easy to remove too.
