drop the crappy design and keep the arms and just turn it into a remote controlled stretcher on wheels that can pick up the person and still keep low to the ground or raise up based on terrain
A remote controlled Segway with arms. Not too difficult to make. Probably upgraded motors to support a limp body. But not too much terrain in battle is smooth enough where that thing isnt gonna get stuck and possibly drop a soldier. It would be a huge task just for that thing to find smooth enough ground not just be wandering all over the battlefield. Sounds good in theory but maybe some kind of track type wheels would be more effecient for terrain and better for balance and heavy loads.
@asmotaku You tend to want to raise or lower people to put them up somewhere, for a good demonstration of the balance system it looks impressive to have a lot of weight on top.
It's not the weight that makes the balance feedback's difficult : it's the pendulum length (the longer, the slower to oscillate, and vice-versa). This demo only proves one thing : powerful servomotors can do wonders.
Try to lower the GC by, say...a feet ? Then I'll be impressed.
@111hamish111 Have you ever built anything? This what they call the testing phase. It is where they TEST the idea. Also, according to the scientific method (wiki it) you test ONE aspect at a time, then do the "real life" test. Also 'their' are homonyms faults in your post.
@sugoi49 yeah!! cus having that thing roaming around in the battlefield or any rescue operation at all seems really safe. even though its a prototype it seems really retarded and i cant see anything better with this thing than using a 4 wheeled stable rescue robot that could go in any terrain. where would you even use a 2 wheeled rescue robot? i say, go with the ripsaw they made for rescue options! (Search for ripsaw ms1 or ms2 to see what i mean)
