I liked Peter's films better in 2d. I dunno, it's the style and weird camera distortions that did it for me. As an artist i DO care. If the 3D looks shit, i can't really focus on the story.

Matriculated being one example. That just didnt mix well imo.

I really love his Tomb Raider stories though.

I feel you, UKNOWIT88. Thats why I said what I said in the video. I've noticed in this industry, after 20 years working in it, that most creators become cynical. Even over their own creations and process...and the ones who appreciate it. They tend to want it to mean something more, or find deeper levels in understanding they think they are the only ones able to do so...

I totally respect Peter. Fuck, I'm totally inspired by him. But the denial over how affective 2D animation is kinda blew mymind

@MistaBite What I got from this video was that he, as an artist, strives to convey his ideas in the best possible way. So, 3D or not I enjoy what he brings to the table, hell, it's better than most. Thanks for posting this.

I love Chung and all but he comes off pretty arrogant by belittling anyone who praises his actual animation; implying that they've missed the point. All of his shit is clearly overtly stylized, to say that that's not part of the work is deceitful.

Peter Chung is great but what surprises me is that there is only 349 views logged! Come on people, this guy is the premier animator of his generation!! Where is everybody who loves animation?? This video is a rare insight into the background of a great and talented animator and one who does not cultivate high visability just great work.

Thanks for the upload. I'm a huge fan of this guy, it just seems to be hard to find any current information on the guy. If anyone has any leads on what he's up to nowadays I'd love to hear.

There's beauty in all the "D"s if we forget where we come from we won't know where we are..lol...2 "D"s before 3. Gotta love them all or they're all empty. Animators should reach to be the best they can be, in whatever D...and thats true because it rhymes..so I respectfully disagree with a master. Sorry, no entire video yet. Maybe in future...until then its unique to those who attend. thanks for enjoying the video!

2d is the past, move on. Are we in 2d? No, everything around us is in 3d- and that's the realism that animators aspire to reach.

@AcctNo4 realism? He's saying 3D makes production pliable instead of having to stick almost solely to pre-planned scenes, which has an effect on the film's acuity. This may or may not be true because 1. too many changes can be risky and 2. Aeon Flux(animated) was better than Firebreather, which was superb.
