In this case, they're pinch harmonics and it's the squeely sound produced by touching the side of your thumb to the string slightly after picking it.

I've sold the POD and the amp, so I can't help you with the POD setup. I plugged it straight into the amp's input. I was happy with the POD and the amp. The amp is really good for classic rock, and the POD is really handy.

It's not ON the fretbar, it's slightly over. I don't know why, I guess it's because of the stretching between my index and my ring finger. I haven't thought about it, it's just how my technique has become. Hasn't stopped me though, and it doesn't have to be on the middle. ;-P

I think it's a 2004 model, but it's definitely not a 2008 model. I bought it in 2006... Production year and that kind of stuff doesn't really interest me, as long as the quality, sound and playability is great.

It took a while before I got it down. It's a really god riff for practicing alternate picking. Use a metronome and start practicing it slow and work your way up from there. You'll get it down. ;)

The reason why I sometimes bend downwards is because I miss a part of my ring finger, so it hurts when I bend upwards with it. I also bend downwards sometimes simply because it's easier. That's just me though. It sounds pretty much the same as bending upwards, so it doesn't really matter. ;)

it takes a little practice, but having more gain helps, and also, pinch harmonics can be picky and not work in some places

It's awesome! Very versatile guitar. Comfortable neck, tune-o-matic bridge, grover tuners, Gibson humbuckers... It's a beast! It's also very balanced, in fact it's the most balanced Gibson guitar. The neck doesn't feel heavy, and you don't have to hold it up, which leads to less tension when playing! It's also good sitting with, and of course, the design is outstanding! Classic! ;)
