  • Bizarre attempt to synch the song to some semi-related live footage gone awry?

  • Comment removed

  • ah the days of long haired 70's hippie chicks

  • pity about the creeeping synch

  • Thank Dylan for this

  • Did she just smoke a ton of chronic??? Anyway, I love her!

  • The film is running to fast. She is young here, No blond yet..

  • Wow so many artists have used Dylan to get themselves hit singles!

  • OMG - how pretty she was - but now we both are over 60 y.o. - she's as pretty as she was - me not :-) !

  • I dont think DYLAN was paying too much attention to her in 1972..he was shooting pat garrett....and trying tO "ACT" lol

  • white chicks just cant dance. argh

  • @gary30229 Right. As if you'd know anything about anything.

  • ¿?

  • fäbodjäntan?

  • doesn't match the music. But she is so cute

  • The most beautiful girl of all time

  • Wish I could back in time and nail her. I know: I've read the comments some men have made her about other female singers in the 70's.

  • いい歌やぁ・・・。Very Good!! \(^▽^)/

  • boy, she certainly has 'the rhythm' of the 60's

  • 1:32 full duck dance mode.

  • That dancing looks like an outtake from the vid of The Cramps playing the insane asylum.

  • what's up with those moves???? thank god she learned how to dance later on. i love her!

  • Olivia dances like her pussy is sore from somebodys big hard dick.

  • @PussystinklikeU it was'nt yours by any chance?

  • @PussystinklikeU Is that what your mum reckons ?

  • Thisismy brothers favorite song for years he love olivianewton-john.

  • This vid is too funny!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • is she even singing the same song as the soundtrack here, her mouth is so out of synch with the words its untrue

  • Haha,Ooooooooh GOD WOW!

  • i love her voice so but good gawd she can't dance to save her life!

  • who cares, a pretty aussie with an angelic voice .

  • the sync of the video was totally lost

  • great vid of a beautiful tart. you do the song justice.

  • Love the outfit! Too bad the video and sound are off.

  • (¯`'•ø,¸¸.¸ ‹(-¿•)›¸.,ø','¯)

  • My lipsync remark was slam on Brittney, Not on the Lovely Olivia! (¯`'•ø,¸¸.¸ ‹(-¿•)›¸.,ø','¯)

  • A stopped clock is right 2 times a day, one seet at the wrong time never is right. The worst lipsycher in the universe at least gets a few matches, just by the laws of chance. TOTAL absence of any correct lip movement means it's the video's fault.

  • the video is completely out of sync with the soundtrack that's all - not her fault

  • wtf! @@, this is weird.

  • This is effed up.

  • Comment removed

  • She lipsinks just like Brittney!!

  • @dennello its not lipsynced. its old technology and it got stuffed up

  • yea !i think so too... what the fuck??!!!

  • she seems to singing a completely different song from the recording,

  • its a good cover no doubt

but i would never compare olivia newton john to George Harrison

  • What a doll ,so talented and adorable! Just great !!!

  • and BTW; ONJ didnt kno how to dance until she was about 20 so..!

  • my teacher told me that back then they always lip sync..it was what they do..but now they dont..lol i love this vid!

  • Great song, I think the video is too fast, but it's probably the best version we will ever get... so thank you for posting this great early Olivia video

  • Hi lectrovoice. I found a great one. See my favrites!

  • fUNNY LIL JIG SHE DOES.

    so pure. so innocent.

  • @speedoflite1 so true , she was so sweet , and still is but in a different way

  • @EmilyLovesApple ahhhh, thanks for reminding me. and I get to hear this song again.

    sweet to look at, too.

  • This is such a perfect record, both in the production and in the way ONJ deliveres the vocal. The amazing thing is that they managed to make a whole album of tracks as good as this.

  • Neat song and voice

  • she rocked in grease

  • On September 26th, 1948, a miraculous birth took place in Cambridge, England. By the tender age of 6, the blue marvelled eyed girl would migrate to Melbourne, Australia with her parents. At 14, she appeared in various Australian television shows like the "Go Show." It was there, she met music producer "John Farrar," and within a few short years, the life of Olivia Newton John, and "the world," would never be the same again after she recorded her first top 40 hit, "If Not For You."

  • Love it !!!

  • One of Bob Dylans best songs.

    Thank you for sharing this.

  • lol great music funny dancing!

  • Good song but bad constipated dance moves exhibited by both ONJ and the audience. LOL.

  • I like her music, but what a sh**ty job of lip-syncing. JK, so please don't comment on my comment.

  • I do prefer Dylan's version to ONJ's, but if it were a dancing and singing version, Olivia's got it all over Bobby. (Dylan wishes that Olivia had been all over him...)

This song was all over AM radio when I was a kid, and it wasn't until 15 years later that I finally heard Dylan's rendition.

I didn't realize just how hot she was until I saw this video. Jah wohl, Fraulein!

  • Another one of my favourite Olivia songs

  • Olivia Newton John is actually singing the song "My Dingaling" that was written by Chuck Barry I believe.

  • Nice song, nice video but unfortunately in the video she's singing an other song :-o

  • Yeah, most disconcerting, isn't it?! I think some people post these kinds of videos just to mess with our minds! hahaha!!!

I'd actually love to see this video with the actual song she IS singing. It LOOKS like it would be a good song!

  • ONJ...just about perfect..a bit mom..a bit your sis..a bit the pretty girl in class .a bit the girl next door.....the kind a girl all men want....she is the best... a voice and smile thats the best....a great dancer...1.20-1.40 pushes to the edge with class and style...

  • everything else is perfect..whats with the dance?:)

  • AWESOME SONG GREAT VIDEO

  • I once had a big crush on her. I gotta say this is one of her best songs.

  • Beautiful woman

  • LOL

  • hahaha

  • Great clip from Stunning Olivia from 1971! yes and i was 14, this is the first time i've seen her sing this! there were NO videos to look at in those days, Top of the pops kept getting dumped to save money cos of power strikes! those were great fucking days!!!!!!

  • geat song beatiful woman as usual but she looks like freakin snow white in that dress LOL

  • Dylan was a shitbag with a crap voice........this is THE version

  • well i think the ****bag was filled with poetry or else there had never been an artist whose works has the maximum covers.

    Pity u,....

  • Okay..I know she is lip-synching the 1971 hit single...but I don't mind. This is the very song that mesmerised me and made me a huge fan in the first place. To this day...she STILL has the voice of an angel...and still one of the sweetest and most beautiful women around. Saw her in concert with a packed crowd at Polaris Ampetheater in Columbus in 1999. She has a heart and voice that is pure. God love her. I DIG LIV!

  • Wow! I'm falling in love all over again!

    It's like I was 14 yesterday!

Can someone post the original actual TV show this video came from, I'd like to know what the name of the obviuosly enjoyable and funky song was that Olivia was singing and dancing to in the video.

She was, and still is so adorable and charming!

God Bless her for raising funds and awareness for breast cancer research.

    She's one of a kind!

  • I know when I hear this it seems like only yesterday but it was quite a bit longer than that huh Gary ;) ;) I was 12 when this hit the airwaves. Hmm like 37 years ago, oh so many 'yesterdays' so few tomorrows.

  • SHE is HOT

  • The video and the sound are playing 2 different songs. Does anyone know what song she is singing in the video, obviously something a little more funky.

  • No, actually the sound is shifted that much :-))

  • She is always so sweet!

  • One beautiful lady...with a beautiful voice to match!

  • singin perfectly is a part of singing - not the complete picture - dylan had & has somthin special that very few "perfect" singers have - don't get me wrong i think ONJ has beautiful voice (and she is vg looking) - its just that dylan is greater than his parts when it comes to singing - he has outlasted most good singers - their perfect voices have failed them - dylan just goes from strength 2 strenght

  • What is wrong with the sound track here? It's way off. Great song, though, as sung by ONJ. Dylan's version of his own song was terrible and had no melody.

  • Any song can become pleasing to the ears if sang by ONJ.

  • The arrangement is almost identical to George Harrison's version.

  • favourite olivia recording EVER!

  • Another track from 'Livvy' from me yoot!!She was so gorgeous and her voice was (is) so sweet!!Angelic song and performer to match!!Great...A

  • Good song if sung by Olivia. BANKS OF THE OHIO 71 her best

  • dylan is HORRIBLE!!! she could have gargled while singing and sounded better than dylan ever did. he's one of the most OVERRATED artists ever

  • No 1 - Dylan can't sing like Picasso can't paint

No 2 - Only Dylan can groan, mumble and whine and you still know what he said.

No 3 - Just about no-one can cover Dylan's stuff and sound as good as him (maybe B Ferry - maybe not)

  • agree with yaartz about bryan ferry, but for agreat dylan cover, check out sinead lohan doing to ramona

  • no ~ stick your finger in dylan's ass, bitch!!

  • This is not even close to being in lip synch.

    What happened?

  • I really like Olivia's version of this song..

Bob Dylan's didnt have as good of beat as George Harrison's i reckon. I love the lyrics :) the rhymes are so cute ..

    Absolutely LOVE it <3

  • great tune - never realised it was ONJ until today

  • it isn't. it's bob dylan.

  • dylan is soooo overrated ~ dunno how he became popular!!

  • good for you! hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha you are so funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ditto!!

  • Dylan is probably one of the best

  • Olivia's first hit from 1971. This arrangement of the Bob Dylan song was based on George Harrison's version on his All Things Must Pass LP. Olivia later covered George's What Is Life from the same LP.

  • ahh crud - I just posted this same information a minute ago before seeing your post.

  • The very first Olivia hit... always was one of my favorites.....

  • "OH IN JAY---GET IN MY BELLY!!!"

  • why did olivia steele her grandmothers outfit for this video??

  • country music the last 20 years has been pure ----, not even worth mentioning!!!!

  • If this was released in 1972, I was in the 11th grade.

It was her decision. In a TV documentary, I remember hearing her say that the CMA had put her down for selling out to rock music, and she got offended. She "claimed" she didn't even know she was a country singer. Then she said she didn't like the "goodie-two-shoes" "girl next door" image anymore so she fired her producer and hired a new one to help her make the change. I think it was a VERY BAD MOVE on her part.

  • bad move is right. country was where she belonged. i think since 'new' country came in this last decade or so, the ideas of the old timers have been completely sold out. it doesn't have the same qualities it had. bubble gum country is the best way to describe it. just think of what she could still be contributing in this area. her influence has been lost because she didn't participate in it long enough. apparently, she wanted to view herself as a pop star instead. sad.

  • I could'nt post a comment any better than FROMAGEAGOGO allready has, Very nostalgic and I wish there was a better video.

  • People say she looks like the gitl next door. But have ever had a girl next door that looked like this?

  • Well, I must be living in the wrong neighborhood. My next door neighbor is a hag!

  • Lol I sure hope she doesn't read that .

  • precioso

    lastima que no acaba

  • bob dylan song in a beautiful lady version. uh she's such an angel!

  • she is the typical girl next door..........she can borrow a cup of sugar off me any day!

  • another smashing dress from livers.....

  • What happened here? Voice out of sync with the music? Was this dubbed out of sync?

  • She stole George Harrison's licks. Bitch.

  • That's actually a Bob Dylan song

  • Lots of singers sing other people's songs, and there's nothing wrong with that. If you were to complain about her doing a George Harrison song, saying that she stole it from him, then you would have to complain about George Harrison stealing from Bob Dylan, who wrote and sang the song. Elvis also sang other people's music.

  • Well, the guy was probably referring to the fact that Olivia's version - nice as it is - is based much more on Harrison's version of the song than Dylan's. The main riff is, in fact, Harrison's - as heard on the early version from Dylan's 'Bootleg Series' boxset containing George on lead guitar. That riff wasn't used on Dylan's released version, whereas George resurrected it for his own version.

  • Olivia never did any of her own songs, but that didn't matter because she was such a cute babe and she was the sweetest girl of the 70's. I liked her until just after she did the movie Grease, and decided that she didn't like the sweet girl image anymore. I have and liked all of her albums until she did "Physical" and went punk.

  • I love this song. It is one of my favorite covers of all time. I totally agree that she was cool 'until'.

I got this album when I was in 5th grade. I remember how much I like it then. Until this surprise find at youtube, I would have not heard any part of it.

I absolutely HATED Grease and any of that sell out smut that producers thought she should do. To bad artists succomb to kitch.

  • >>>Olivia never did any of her own songs>>>

She has quite a few songwriting credits.

  • Double, triple, quadruple, quintuple, SEXTUPLE!

  • A little bit of random info, when recording this song, her dog knocked something over and you can hear it on CD. LOL. Probably one of her Irish setters, since she has Irish setter fever. Isn't her current setter's name Jack? I know she has one becasue he appeared on American Idol with her last September.

  • what's she really singing? ..dose it matter? So cute.

  • Yes this is definitely Top 40 not country! I do love this song and it started a long string of hits! Love her early 70's dress and hair. She was trendy but she was prettiest around 1979.

  • Existe disociación entre el video (la imagen) y la canción. Está cantando otra canción, aunque siempre es muy grato admirarla.

  • Who's robin beside her?

  • Her outfit is totally not out of synch with the video. The hippy fashion was typical of the very early 70's and goes in hand with this song sung by George Harrison and written by Bob Dylan. You're probably too young to know about that era because anyone who lived it remembers this style.

And I am a big Dylan and Harrison fan but love ONJ's version. This folk song put her on the map and was her first big hit.

  • iyiii

  • Love this song...interesting hippie look, she's like a mother earth goddess. This is way out of sync with the video.

  • Ahhh, the song that made me fall in love with Olivia Newton-John. This was the song that introduced her to the United States. Unfortunately, the record company tried to market her in the country music genre and I think it was a problem for her, since she considered herself a pop singer. I remember always listening to the b-side of records because they were sometimes as good as the hit side. This is true with this song. The b-side was "The Biggest Clown" which I played more than the a-side!

  • I shouldn't have listened; now it'll be in my head for the the next couple of days. But it's sooo pretty!

  • Oh my God!!!! Now I can't get it out of my head either!!!! It's almost like seeing someone yawn!!!

  • The angel from Oz.

  • have just listened to dylan's original.. and yes, i agree.. his version is much better! olivia herself has said she disliked the choice of song at the time, so maybe that explains her slight lack of conviction when singing it...!? by the way, i am an ardent ONJ fan, but that doesn't mean I like EVERYTHING olivia puts out!!!!! xx peace xx

  • She is lip synching

  • Wow. Nobody knows how to spoil a great Bob Dylan song like Olivia Newton John.

  • The best way to "ruin" a Bob Dylan song would be to have Dylan himself sing it?

He could write songs, but sing? Not so much.

  • Is that a question? Bob Dylan is a far better singer than this chick from Grease.

  • Grease? i thought she was from Australia. (it's a joke}

  • That goes for Paul Williams too. He could write like crazy but he sang like an intestinal obstruction.

  • Or, SgtRock and Underdog, Jimmy Webb wrote all those great songs for Glen Campbell and others, but on an album he did of his own material about ten years ago, it was a total snoozerama.

  • olivia newton-john is one of my favorite singers

  • The face grimace between 46 and 50 seconds is absolotely magnificient. I love it, I love that song and the video clip :)

  • Came looking for some early 70 ONJ, to remember why my teenage self was so smitten with her - and here she is, and yes indeed I remember. Thanks for posting.

  • She is so lovely and so is this song.

It's a real shame the video and audio are not in sync at all. Any chance you could re-post it and maybe that would get fixed?

  • yes this video is obviously off key but she is the BEST and most GORGEOUS there is ever!! and this was her first official solo single! and its awesome, if u disagee well dont listen ....

  • She obviously doesn't sing this song...Maybe she sings Mary had a little Lamb or sth

  • mary had little u wish you could sing

  • Has this been dubbed into english?

  • I remember this song in the early 70's, would be nice if it were in sync.

  • If you like this check out Twiggy singing "here i go again".

  • Bob Dylan, such a great composer...

  • lol Gotta love the dress! Ah, such a beautiful song and sucha pretty lady!
