I prefer this version to the original, and this is one of my favourite Genesis tracks. I like the modern take on it, the updated music works really well in my mind, but still retains the Genesis feel.
Great video! But preferred the original version of the song. I did not realise their was a arguement regarding who was better between Peter and Phil as Peter was lead vocal and Phil was drummer and backing vocalist, so how can you compare??
@nonodog1 It has from this video version, but not from the 1999 version of the song if you download it; although the final verse, "The porcelain mannikin ..." IS missing from the song :(
Fortunately some of us don't need drugs to appreciate this video or song. It IS perfection, in it's many different forms. I'm tired of the Peter/Phil argument, who is better? I cannot imagine a world (or a past) that did not have ALL of these artists, together and separate, and be able to enjoy their individual AND collaborative talents. I've been looking for this version for a long time; thank you for posting!
seems i was living in an apartment in the late 70's, early 80's..when was this song released? i remember crawling on the carpet cause i had broken my kneecap....stupid then, stupid now. but this is a great great song. i still have the lp. gonna die soon, anybody want it:?? i'll mail it to you for christmas..
I don't want to see a video for this song. This has always been one of the most visual, ethereal songs I've ever heard - open to interpretation. A real mystical quality to it. Listen to the original after smokin' a fatty, you'll see God.
Ahh, this version has neither Gabriel nor Collins singing "mild mannered supermen are held in kryptonite..." A long time ago, I saw the video and it had Gabriel singing that part, now all I get is Collins or nothing. Still an amazing video though, thanks for sharing.

The symbolism in this video goes perfectly with the words of the song. Who are you? I compliment sparingly.

Ruined a beautiful song with this arrangement. Why can't people leave perfection alone. Change for the sake of change.
