I gotta tell you as much as I like this version there's a new one I like better. It's by a group called "Winter Owl". Anyone know where I can buy that version? I'll try to post the video. It's on youtube and it's stunning.
I had this song in my head for the last nine years... I just found out it's name. This song carries a profound connotation to the passage of time to me.
Isn't it interesting how a picture or piece of music can be the symbol to a feeling or landscape? Sometimes so clearly?
How could anyone say that they dislike this? Maybe it isn't their favorite song, but to "dislike" it? It is like disliking a sunset or a tree... I guess some people just aren't satisfied unless they are dissatisfied with everything.
@uintaj probably some pu@#y that listens to c, rap or dip sh@# music , Ive noticed those types are without God , without soul, without social grace , they were born to die and everything to them is ugly ,

this was my mum's favourite Christmas song. Sadly, she passed away a few years ago but whenever i listen to it, it takes me straight back to being a little girl curled up on her knee infront of a blazing fire on a cold night. Thanks for the memories mum xxx

This is a wonderful song... Beautiful and endlessly serene, yet always a little bit sad, just as the Winter itself. I love Winter, and this song describes it really well. Makes me think of all those long evenings when you stand in the window, look at the snow outside and let your thoughts wander through past and present. And long for something you're not able to name.

This instrumental shows that angels assist us in making beautiful music. Even this beautiful peice is like a crappy pop song compared to the music that angels make.
loved this video from the 1st moment i saw it sent to me. absolutely fabulous to watch, and it's going to be watched many many times. definately more than 5 stars, it needs mirriads of them to show appreciation.
Enough for Him, whom cherubim Worship night and day, A breastful of milk And a mangerful of hay; Enough for Him, whom angels Fall down before, The ox and ass and camel Which adore. Angels and archangels May have gathered there, Cherubim and seraphim Thronged the air, But only His mother In her maiden bliss, Worshipped the Beloved With a kiss.
I hated singing in school as a kid but at Christmas we would give a rousing rendition of this and I would have tears in my eyes by the end of the song. There is some music that cuts right to the bone if you're British and this is a fine example! The Lark Ascending is another.

Hello lovely people - does anyone know what the stringed instrument that opens the piece is? It doesn't sound like a normal violin or viola - at a guesstimate I think it's a type of mediaeval-ish violin but I wondered if anyone knew? Ta. :)
sounds like a regular violin to me... I might be wrong, considering I don't play a string instrument, but I kow someone who plays viloin and theirs sounds about the same as this.

The song In the Bleak Midwinter comes from a poem of the same name written by Christina Rossetti (1872).
fkanga 2 years ago
Here are the words to the poem: In the bleak mid-winter
Frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron,
Water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow,
Snow on snow,
In the bleak mid-winter
Long ago.
fkanga 2 years ago 2
Our God, Heaven cannot hold Him
Nor earth sustain;
Heaven and earth shall flee away
When He comes to reign:
In the bleak mid-winter
A stable-place sufficed
The Lord God Almighty,
Jesus Christ.

What can I give Him,
Poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd
I would bring a lamb,
If I were a wise man
I would do my part,
Yet what I can I give Him,
Give my heart.
