It goes 3 1 4 2. Dante meets Trish in DMC 1 and is partners her, as is seen in DMC4. I believe we may all agree, however, that DMC3 comes first and that DMC 2 comes last.

Devil May Cry 3 was amazing from storyline to music ot gameplay.... one of the best games I've ever played. 1 was an amazing intro, 4 was good up, best graphics but they made you play the entire game over as dante that was extremely annoying. And 2 was just when they experimented with a general format change. They took a major risk with two and it didn't work out lol.

Definitely, man. DMC3 was all around an incredible game. Surprisingly replayable, too. Beat it 21 times (a bit on each mode, mostly Normal and Hard). DMC 4, Dante's reruns were mighty buggy, and the whole dice game thing wasn't all too great.

Combat in general was great, keeping all the good DMC3 had and adding real-time style switch. The own downer I'd call is Nero's lack of versatility. He's great to play, but Dante is better as far as I'm concerned.

@OvaNineThousand Yeah I didn't like the dice game things at all. I never minded playing as dante, I thought he was faster and easier to control than nero anyway. It's just that did they really need to have you play all the same exact bosses over again? Each time you think you've beaten the game, and you sit back and relax to watch the cutscene you realize you have to play again and its a little like "Oh come on already" Nero wasn't very versatile that is true. He became repetitive after a while.

@OvaNineThousand I originally suspected that DMC4 creators wanted to compete with God of War because some people like the brutal style fighting of kratos, and nero has that whereas dante is more of a technician with finesse. (I personally prefer dante) DMC3 enemies were faster paced, and the fighting was way more exciting. I felt like nero was way too emo, and with the camera angles some of the bosses in this game were cheap. Overall it was a good game just not DMC3 level

The series goes like this, DMC 3, 1, the Anime 4, and then 2.
