Okay, I'm a christian. I look at his music different. #1 he believes he's a God which is y his aka is Hova. #2 I look at what he says in a broad view. He raps about everything that Jesus hates; vaulting ambition for money, sex, murder, pride, etc. Christians move when we hear our music 2. But I think it's more description than advertising or promotion of these ideas.

I'm not big into rap, so I can't speak for most people. But the lyrics to me describe poverty and his thankfulness that he's been able to overcome it, not promotion of crime or hate.

I don't know, I'm probably reading too much into it, but in any case, my point is that he's not promoting these things.

He does promote these things... The phrase "brush your shoulders off" means to feel good and be proud about something. The lyrics say "if you feeling like a pimp ni**a gon' brush your shoulders off" he saying that's what's up be a pimp which by definition means you use people to have sex to make a profit but todays concept of the word is to have a lot of sex. The message is clear, but misunderstood or just said without analyzing what is being promoted.
