Remington Model 700 is a civilian rifle.. And law enforcement rifle if you count the 700P. The U.S. Army uses the M24, which is really just the 700P with selected parts and a heavy barrel. PSG-1 is a Heckler & Koch and is civilian and law enforcement, it also has two military variants. The MSG-90 and the MSG-90A1. The Dragnov SVD is only Russian, China did copy it though.

If there's wind and the shooter didn't compensate, it's not the guns fault that it missed the target. With semi-auto though there's a higher chance of you hitting the target, because you have a higher fire rate than bolt action and so can try again without having to cock it again. Depends on ammunition though, which can affect ballistics and in turn accuracy.

The PSG1 is crap too. I've used a civilian version, and I see why it's not cleared for military use, it's too fragile, but at least it's accurate.

The 3 PSG I've been over were rock solid, I wouldn't want to use them in a desert or swamp because what little dirt that could get into the action would begin to make problems quickly. Dragunovs &NDMs are built to the same standards as most AK's, rough as a cob, critically engineered for wartime production...It's a TOOL OF WAR while the PSG's are INSTRUMENTS OF PRECISION.

HK's delayed blow-back is a pretty slick system.It's simple ad dirt and it keeps the "mass in motion" down, the Drugonov Is guaranteed to eject but 80% of the felt recoil is the bolt&carrier Slamming back. come to think of it both rifles throw their brass like 30ft away. Another thing, when you look down the psg barrel there are no grooves, it catches you off guard at first but if you look closer the bore is a round cornered hex.

In the original Metal Gear Solid, you, and a character named Meryl, are about to traverse a long corridor, when she gets sniped by a member of the elite team you are sent to destroy. If you haven't played the original MGS, I sincerely recommend it. There are a handful of games that are regularly regarded as the best game (or at least top five) on the original Playstation, and Metal Gear Solid is always one of them.

The advantage of semi automatic is that you can send a lot more lead to the target in less time.

In the original Metal Gear Solid, you, and a character named Meryl, are about to traverse a long corridor, when she gets sniped by a member of the elite team you are sent to destroy. Your commander (and Meryl's uncle) instructs you to go try and find a sniper rifle. Upon going back to a weapons storage area (pain in the ass backtrack) you find a PSG-1, where your commander calls:
"You got a PSG-1? You can use that against Sniper Wolf! Hurry up, and save Meryl!"

If you haven't played the original MGS, I sincerely recommend it. There are a handful of games that are regularly regarded as the best game (or at least top five) on the original Playstation, and Metal Gear Solid is always one of them.
I don't mean to rip on Call of Duty, as it is a very fun game. But the MGS series I feel is so superior that to prefer COD to MGS seems almost foolish. Maybe I'm just beginning to show my age.
