I've had run W7x64 official MS public beta/RC in 2009' fall, and I believe that with the release of W7, there is no problems too. Just run the Windows Update asap, and everything in w7' Device Manager turns green.

My setup: rampage formula, 3x AHCI SATA native (no IDE at all), SATA DVD rec. No FDD, too.

BTW, rampage formula can emulate floppy by usb flash.

I've got a question. I am looking into buying this board but I've read some Win7 x64 lack of drivers issue & stability. Can someone confirm this is true? Or is someone runing this on Win7 64-bit? I know ASUS does NOT like to support new systems. I run an older asus mobo for my core 2 duo, they never came up with drivers for Win 7 and Vista drivers do not cover essential things. I had to work around a few things. Thanks!

u can update the bios using a flash drive if u can get a copy of the latest bios from asus's website...u dont need a old cpu in that case because same thing happened to me

Im running the new board now. Everything works perfect. The flash drive wouldn't have worked because the board itself was deemed damaged. Case closed. :)

welp. heres the follow up. I sent the board right back to ASUS after speaking with customer support. I said what the hell... lets see where this goes. The person over the phone said they reviewed my board and it was a faulty one. And now I have a new one running which was RMAd to me by Newegg. (VERY FAST SERVICE) which ASUS worked out for me. And now it runs perfect. :)

well it is good if your not running 2 cards becuase it is a p45 chipset wich does not have 2 pci e slots that run at x16, instead one runs at x16, the other at x8, and the last at x4. it is a great board if ur not running crossfire

crossfire is like you can use 2 video cards without doing some stuff in like SLI no connection to each other needed. simply no cable i guess..

ARE YOU KIND OF A STUPID!! You need to connect both of those graphic cards with a crossfire bridge.

The main thing about crossfire is that you can mix match them unlike in SLI in which you have to use the same graphic card.

no, those are nvidia chipsets, this x48 is an intel chipset. And if you wanna run dual your GPUs in Crossfire, you'll want the intel chipsets. For SLI you'd go with the nvidia. A lot of people think overclocking is easier on the intel chips too.

I have been using this board for a few months now and i am very happy with it. Only complaint is the northbridge chip area does get hot, but i aimed a 80mm fan at it and now its a nice 98F.

Did not try the SoundFx audio as i already had a X-Fi before hand, so i cant comment as to the quality of the included soundcard.

I am using 8gigs of Kingston HyperX ram with vista 64bit.

Great motherboard, bought mine at Newegg, of course.

Crossfire mate. Only recently have they released a mobo that works with both but not this one yet this one still kicks ass. I don't recomend crossfire though but i do think the X2 graphics cards are great (min of like 70% increase in proformance compaired to like max 60% crossfire)

I was considering this board but the 'extreme' model of the rampage caught my eye. The heatsinks look incredible not to mention my future plans for 2x 4870X2's :) Also, I know it's DDR3 exclusive and I know it doesn't have the speed to match its price but at least it'll future proof me so I wont have to say goodbye to my Rampage board 2 years down the line.

The X48 is nothing but a X38 with official 1600FSB support. Asus names their ROG boards that uses DDR2 "Formula" While boards that uses DDR3 gets the name "Extreme".

X48 has some minor other changes but you can flash your Maximus Formula to Rampage Formula if you want. On the other hand there are bigger/more heatpipes on the Rampage when compared to the Maximus.

it will only work in a dual GPU card like the 9800GX2. It will NOT work with say two 8800GT's in SLI. This board it a crossfire board, so it will work with two 3870, etc.
