some trekkies says that this movie ruined the timeline but.... its an alternate timeline this happens because of something that happened in the future (about 30 years from star trek nemesis i think) then again i see what people mean with it because in the original show they had both vulcan and romulus... but they forget what really fucked up everything: star trek: enterprise

During the Drill Machine sequence as the Enterprise comes out of its barrel role amidst destruction of the other Federation ships above Vulcan, we cut to an interior Enterprise bridge over the shoulder of Kirk that is looking out through the front viewscreen. In space, R2-D2 is floating in the debris from about the top middle of the screen to the bottom right.

I think this film will appeal to non-Star Trek fans as well... I used to think the Star Trek movies and tv shows are only interesting to the convention trekkie fanboys . From this trailer and the others, it seems that JJ Abrams, Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman has made a conscious effort to make this movie accessible to the ordinary moviegoer.

yeah me too. I just came back from seeing the movie and it was really good. Though funny can remember oh yeah that character because my dad is a BIG TIME TREKKIE fan since the original series came out when he was in college. Saw few episodes in all of star trek seasons and yes parts are interesting :)
