Msr. Chrétien didn't know what he was getting into when he agreed to be interviewed (and pwnd) by this very smart, connected and articulate man (who just happens to be a drummer in a major rock and roll band). Chretien's worried expression is priceless. Neal didn't allow for any bullshit.
Wait a minute: How about Neal Peart for Prime Minister next time around?
"Promises": Will replace GST? LOL! That's right up there with "Will replace Income Tax". Neat to see Peart question a politician about jobs, but it's kind of strange to hear such questions coming out of the mouth of a millionaire. What does he care?
This was kind of interesting. Neil did a good job. I wonder what he thinks now that not only did Chretien not remove the GST now McGuinty has added the PST as well.
Big money (no pun intended) has a way of changing peoples views. Especially those who make a living doing what they love. Their intention is everybody should have the life they live which is admirable, but not possible. We all have a certain level of "drive". Some people are happy just watching tv. The tv watchers are hard for people who are sucsessful to understand, somebody must be holding them back from a better life. The government should help!?. I give neil a pass, he has a big heart.
Peart was not affiliated, but liked those who stood up for something. People become lazy in there belifs and don't realize that all political parties change. The Republicans were at one time very close to modern day libertarians (Abe Lincoln) & Democrats were always the racists. The term "southern democrat" didn't come from thin air(true till late 50's). Both want big government and to control it. 60's protesters against government intrution now want to expand it when they hold the power.
The individualism in 2112 is right, but the lyrics of allot of songs until moving pictures are abolutely "Libertarian like". Any lyrics that refer to life, liberty in the context he put them in, were in my opinion political. You might have to be in the Party to understand certain "code" words. Like "progressive" means socialist in democrat speak, or constitution means "morality" to a republican. Even in "The Trees" they were all held equal by hatchet axe and saw after they formed a union
Wow, how the mighty have fallen. Neil has went the wrong direction since his Libertarian fused 2112. Everybody needs the government to do thier bidding. Shamefull!
As much a there are people who think that Neil should have switched places with Chretien -- let's be honest here -- would trusted Neil if he was a politician? But I did like it when Neil said that he read the Liberal "Red Book", while it looked as though Chretien was thinking "What Red Book?" Replace the GST? Ha! And where's all the coloured ribbons that Chretien wears to show that he actually cares about all those causes?
if niel peart could run for president of U.S. he would hand obama his ass in a dixiecup
