I have heard some of the old timers talk of those old planes as death traps even when they were new, and think "why do you want to go up in one of those?" during war I guess there was no fun to be had when you had to go up in a plane that was hurredly repaired everytime it got shot, so it could get right back up asap to raid again.
I fell asleep in the back of this plane, on the ground, Oshkosh, 1986.... right under the radioman's blister....I dreamed about being a waist gunner.... was awoken by the cranking up of the APU....
i reluctantly climbed out of the plane....I was fresh out of a job, so I could not afford a donation at the time... Kathy and I had free tickets of every description from our friends.
Beautifull!

B-17s... the most elegant of the heavy bombers we ever produced, in my opinion.

@bulletman100 it was the war itself that made them dangerous, they otherwise a very reliable aircraft

The pilot looks like Rob Collings of the Collings Foundation. Yes???

Not Rob; the Aluminum Overcast program is a decidedly different one than Collings' so that'd be a very unique day in history!
