  • I agree, this manual is the one to get. I also have the pocket SAS that's been convenient to have around. Study and practice everything you can.

  • are you part of SERE?

  • Hey Ryan, its a 16 year-old kid from Gainesville,FL. Unfortunately, they did not stop the Gainesville pastor from burning that Koran and angering billions of Muslims around the world, endangering UN, troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, and US status in the world! My brother is entering the US army this summer and I fear the vigorated civilans in Afghanistan r a great threat! I want 2 hurry and grow up so I can mimic wat u do in ur videos, my mom will not understand! I also want to join the USAF=D

  • They do a Pocket sized SAS hand book now, it has all the same info in it but it's tiny, it fits in the palm of your hand

  • After watching this the other night I immediately went to ebay and found one with the waterproof paper from the UK. It cost me $36 bucks! This will go in nicely next to my Ray Mears Essential Bushcraft that I had also gotten from the UK. Thanks for the great tip Ryan, and I'm surely this will be a great addition to my library when it gets here.

  • U can buy the book at cheaperthandirt

  • Try finding at a gun show.

    Great review.

    Why r u wearing gloves?

  • Can not find this book any where..

  • Good stuff! Many people go for the fancy, when good old fashioned military manual will work.

  • Thanks Ryan. ~Wolf

  • Another excellent review.

  • I keep FM 21-76-1 in PDF format on my computer. To be honest, it's not much different than the information offered in Backpacker Magazine- Nov. 2008 edition is just one example. The same concepts are covered- shelter, navigation, water, food, etc...

  • i meant to say i pocket sized version of the sas survival guide for 8 bucks

  • at borders i bought a pocket sized of the sas survivl guide edition for 8 bucks

  • i like what you are doing letting people know what they can do.

  • you do knew, by having military gear you cant blend in with the locals, not saying you are wrong but i wouldn't ware surplus gear, stick with civilian gear of the highest quality. how can you pass a check point dressed up for combat or have combat gear on your position.

you will fit a profile of the type of people they are rounding up and you will be forced to fight

or die when you are not ready too.

always remember in survival sometimes you die no matter what you do.

  • Wahhhh, I have the Pocket Outdoor Survival Guide! haha, I keep it in my BOB, but I also have more extensive, small sized manuals as well.

    Great review ryanjcus! 5/5

  • Nice video. Dang i wish i had a credit card so i could get one of these. :(

  • Is there a website you can buy this book from.

  • if you can get the advanced sere, it is the HOLY GRAIL

  • Comment removed

  • *****

  • you can get that same sas book the size of your palm. type up: collins gem sas

  • Before buying this book you should just read it for free online, you may find that you dont really learn anything from it, depending on how many things you already know.

  • would you mind sending me a PM sending me a link where I can read the book online?

  • Can you buy the guide outside of the US?

    Like in europe?

  • the best way to carry it is put it in your head ; it will be weightless

  • There's a copy on google just type in survival evasion and recovery us manual on google

  • "Well the reason I would recommend, accually this one impeticular, is because it sucks."

lol, Thats a good reason not to recommend a book.

  • Defiantly going to pick this one up, thanx.

  • gotta love the Special Air Service...

  • Ok..where can i find it with the waterproof pages and the binder?

  • I got mine at a Surplus Store. I would maybe check ebay for it lol, just kidding. :)

  • Download form wikileaks, print on a laser printer, spray with nikwax map proof, bind in a copy shop. :D and you heve your home-made manual. Easy-peasy :-)

  • The pro way: get a PDF from wikileaks, find a digital printing house, upload it, choose waterproof paper + binding, provide a shipping address, pay for it, and wait :D

  • Found the book on ebay new for 7.00..Thanks for the review Ryan!

  • dammit you bought that? it was the only one with the waterproof pages...they r almost impossible to find

  • Thanks for the post. Can't seem to find this edition of this book with the waterproof pages. Where did you get yours? Thanks

  • Those r still great S-E-R manual. They have started issuing ones that are a little more into detail in special forces now though.

  • Hi Ryan!

Don't you consider binoculars as a very important piece of survival gear?

  • Yes WAXTAP they are very important. I responded to your question the first time you asked. Go to your channel. I left a comment.

    Thanks Man and Be safe

  • hmm.. i'll just hack myself one of those..:P

    peace

  • cool

  • hey could u do a video on ur tac vest !!!

  • Youtube boycott begins in, t-minus 2.5 hrs and counting Eastern time. 3 days, patriots.

  • i figure there are four major things that could emerge as a life or death emergency:

traumatic wound/blood loss - wound to the artery, severed limb.

Burn - on the internet it's hard to find any method of treating third degree burns.??? on the plus side apparently 3rd degree burns is not painful. kind of cool.

    breathing problems - choking/allergic reaction.

    poison - psycho girlfriend. ha!

i can't think of any others?

  • Where can you get the 1st book the Us Miltary Evaison one, I saw the SRS book on amazon but not the other one.

  • DUDE!! you can download this book on the internet for free.

  • Yes you can. Thats pretty cool. I would still suggest getting a hard copy for your LBE or survival kit. The hard copy is very durable and waterproof. Thanks Man

  • marines are hot, even though they are psychotic killers. maybe thats what makes them attractive? anyhoo, thanks for the info that i can only pray i will not need!

  • wow.

  • also, in the trauma part of my first aid kit,

    i will include,

    charcoal - poison,

    2nd 3rd degree burning - any ideas?

  • Thanks for the comments Flower, now you're giving me some good ideas, and having me re evaluate my medical kit. Cocaine has numbing effects like novacain(spelling?). Herion is more like morphine. They are both opiates. Oxycontin is one of the most powerful painkillers. I think it is 1 molecule different than heroin. It's basically a legal form. My recommendation is to get whatever pain killers you can get your hands on and save them. I probobly should say to follow all your laws. continued...

  • Obey your laws. But, you have to do what you can :). Antibiotics, benadryl;and stuff like that for allergies. Asprin is good to have too. You may be able to save someone from a heartattck. It's a blood thinner. Good for common headaches, aches, and pains. Charcoal from your fire pit can be used for poision. It makes you vomit. It's hard to swallow, but you must force it down to be effecticve. Thanks for the comment and be safe.

  • Um. Charcoal from your fire pit may well cause you to vomit, but it's not the best for ingesting in response to poison. For that you want pure activated charcoal, it's sold over the counter and you can find it online searching for terms like "Acidose" and a bunch of others I don't remember at this time - those don't make you vomit, the point is for the charcoal to stay in your digestive tract and absorb/bond to the toxins so you only pass them through.

  • ...Continued from my previous replies.

There is burn cream or gel you can get for burns. I would look at you local pharmacy I need to look into that myself. If anyone else reading this has somthing to add please feel free to chime in. Thanks again

  • a humble and informative reply. thank you.

  • @ryanjcus aloe vera jell. works great for burns, chapped skin, and sunburns.

  • cocaine, i believe, is a good substitute for morphine and may be more easily accessed. however, i wouldn't carry it. also i heard or read somewhere that epi pens are good for allergic reactions, by preventing swelling/suffocation, but for me are way too damn expensive and only have a shelf life of 20 months.

any ideas or substitutes for strong pain relief or allergic reactions medication? i have aspirin umm...

  • nice video..good book

  • great vid! great book!

i too am out for the long run, better to be prepared for the worst.

also, i divided my first aid up into two parts... the first is the trauma unit, for any severe emergency need. quick access and easy to rummage through. basically consists of clotting pads, pain killers, razor blade and pen tube for a tracheotomy. It's all in a zip lock bag and is the first thing to fall out of the kit. other suggestions?

I've learnd a lot from your vids you have professional knowledge.

  • Thats cool. I never thought of that. 5*

  • Good stuff as usual. 5*

  • your i.q drops? damn i didnt think my i.q could drop even lower !!! hahaha just kidding nice vid! i'm going to check them out.

    keep those vids coming

  • Get some info off the net while you can,it might not be there pretty soon, unfortunetly.

    Great info Ryan thanks man!

     Indeed knowledge is power!

  • I think ill hit up the surplus store this weekend for some bdu's and browse their books to see if they have it. I have one book I got from the surplus store , I think its called Everybodys knife bible or book or somethin but I need to find it and keep reading it .

    Thanks for the vids dude.

  • It's funny you say that. If you watch the video again you can see "Everybodys Knife Bible" in the upper left hand corner of the screen. Look for the green trees. Thanks for the support Man.

  • great video

  • Good vid. I have a lot of survival books, and some are definitely better than others. I like the idea of having a handy general guide to carry with you. I've been considering making a video about my own book collection for a while.

  • Thanks Man. Yes I have quite a collection of them myself. I actually made another vid a while ago on some of them, giving them YT star ratings and stuff. You can see it in the related videos if you haven't already watched it.

  • Nice. I think I have a pdf version of this manual in my vast array of pdf manuals. A hard copy like yours would be sweet though.

  • Hey Man, excellent advice. If you google the book title, the first thing that comes up is the PDF version. Thanks

  • Excellent Ryan! (*****)

Truth about needing to practice what you learn.

It will be amusing to see how many "Arm-Chair" warriors break their skinny little legs trying to move their beer-bellies out of their chairs.

    THANKS FOR SAVING MY LIFE.

    ~Kasp£arfo

  • ahahhahaa, indeed it will! Thanks Man

  • "The reason I wouldn't recommend this one is because it sucks" Jesus that line had me cracking up. You can make a video on a book or manual interesting Ryan. I'm on eBay now looking for one.

Thanks and keep the good stuff coming Dude.

    5*****

  • You can download a pdf version of most military manuals online for free.

  • Dude, I found it in less then 1 minute. Thats for the heads up. Its now on my iPhone.

  • Cool. A waterproof manual would indeed be wiser to bring with you than a regular one.

btw, your JLW's SAS survival manual looks pretty worn out :P You must have read that book for years!

I just got mine half a year ago or something, I love that book. 5/5

  • Yes it's a great book indeed. Mine has gotten a decent amount of use over the past few years. Thanks Bro

  • Another great video, i use the SAS survival manual in your vid to train with, its not waterproof but has great infomation in it, keep the infomation going out your videos are great thanks. PARA111(+)

  • The Ranger Survial Handbook is another good one. Some army surplus have them. They generaly are small and compact.

    Great Info!

  • I have the 1969 version (Survival, Evasion, and Escape) but it is paper, I like the wire ring binding better on the newer one you have too

  • Making decisions even in the spiritual realm have the same detrimental results. Nothing solely on emotions or fear.

  • Nice!
