  • Hi Dave :) are you in a band? because you are such a clean 'crisp' player beautifully played, thank you!

    Ross

  • This is very good playing. Well done. Loved it.

Ever heard of Catherine Tickell? You could do well perhaps by getting yourself a talented backing group to make you sound even better, like her.

  • nice work dave :)

  • Great tunes you have selected grat to listen & ENJOY !!!!

    Cheers,

    Reid

  • Hey would it be possible to send me The Train Journey North and Tam Bains, if i give you my e-mail?

  • How in the world do you have all that memorized?!

  • i wanna learn to play the pipes soooo bad. can i get pipes that dont cost a million bucks but still sound sweet? im female too btw

  • You gotta start off with a chanter =) and yea, you can get some for 800, dont be tempted by the 300 dollar ones, there a waste.

  • Get a teacher. They should lead you right; there's so much that you learn from a teacher that you can't really learn from a book. The difference between a self-taught piper and someone who's had a teacher is almost always audible. You start on the practice chanter and, when the teacher says you're ready, they'll move you onto the pipes. Chances are you'll take on a set of pipes made by Dunbar. They make the $800 pipes, plastic, but of good quality for beginners.

  • Try polly pipes they should cost around 800 dollars

  • Absolutely. Here in Canada you can get Piper's Choice bagpipes. I previously owned a $300 set of cheap imitation blackwood pipes from pakistan (made of the cheapest wood). I bought them from the guy who bought them originally. He upgraded the chanter to a Shephard, and when I bought them, I got new drones and stocks. The bag is all that is still original. Total cost was about $800. My Pipers Choice are plastic, but still sound amazing.

  • you have to find a teacher near you and get a practice chanter and get lessons, after about 6 months on chanter, you should be ready to move onto full bagpipes, you can get a set of Plastic Bagpipes from bagpipes galore in edinburgh for £395 ad they sound as good as blackwood bagpipes.

    Good luck with learning

  • Okay....you passed the audition.

    Great execution.

  • wow you are so0o0o0o0o good! i love the bees wedding!

  • Spot on!!!!!

  • Incredible! The sound was perfect, and your skill is evident. Well done!

  • you sound great and i do have to mention you look like mr foreman the dad from that 70's show has anyone ever told you that? anyways good job

  • How long have you been playing?

  • Hi Gabriel

About twice as long as you've been around, my son! The amazing thing is I still LOVE playing and get a kick out of it every time!!

  • Dang that's a long time. I've only been playing for 3 years (that includes practice chanter). Can you listen to my solo and tell me what I could do better?

    Thanks in advance

  • I could give it a try, Scott. You know I need a well recorded offering to make any sort of accurate judgement but give it a shot. We can only try!! Dave.

  • I have a solo up on youtube that has good sound quality. It's titles "Solo/duet at the NCSU pipes and drums 40'th anniversary"

  • can anyone send me the hornpipes sheet music

  • Hi Scott Please give me your e-mail address and I'll pop them along. Do you have Bagpipe Music Writer?? If not, I'll send in MS Word. I was looking at the band website - well done on that great result at Ardrossan. The 1st places can be quite elusive....take care and keep piping!!
