Flinn was also allowed to leave even when there was no blight simply because they trusted him. And a multitiude of times the templars bring up that their job is also to protect the mages not just police them. DA2 almost retconned it all if not for possible dialogue with Alistair about Ferelden's leniency to mages.

Anders ruined it for everyone. Anders wasn't even like the other mages..He was already sharing his body with Justice. Since he warped him into vengeance he puts himself on his own league regardless of other mages. It's quite humorous though that one can make him a blood mage in awakening and he'll even acknowledge to such and chuckle about it in that game. There were evil mages yes,but the right of annulment was going to far. "innocents had to die"as it was said if you side with Templars

@3Comrades the templars shouldnt be so strict as they were in kirkwall. and merril was not bad even at the end she did something stupid and used blood magic but blood magic isnt necessarilly evil unless your taking the life force from other people and resurrecting the dead which merril did not. and magic is just a weapon like anything else they dont destroy or lock away all weapons. but i understand your point of view i just believe the templars could be more leniant

She did that, and if not for someone's saccrifice would become an abomination. The use of blood does not make it evil, the demon does. You gain rivalry points with her if you don't hand Fenyriel to the demon. She is bad, sweet, but at the same time, she does evil things

@CREAT0R0FDEATH I could believe that...if the one place mages were free wasn't a blood magic haven, Tevinter proves that if you allow those with power to roam free they become corrupt. But I am not saying all mages are bad, Bethany and my Hawke certainly were not. Fenris agrees, but a few good people does not excuse all the bad ones since the bad greatly (in this game) outweigh the good.

Anders of course ruined everything by doing what he did. Like I said nobody forced them to do blood magic. They all chose to go that path. We also saw that one didn't have to even be a mage to be an abomination..Templars got possessed too. Templars forced too much pressure and mages were too desperate. You didn't even see that many blood mages in the first game. Don't forget the templars were also breaking laws by those who were making mages tranquil even after they passed harrowing or w.e

To me Isabela is the only acceptable romance option in the game........... Merril is an elf, and I don't like that cross species shit on most occasions.... I don't even experiment with the man on man shit and since Aveline is not romanceable that leaves one option on the male side. on the female side, Anders is the only acceptable (using that loosely) option, Fenris is an emo elf and Sebastian is a chantry prude...

So basically you only have one 'sex' scene with each char and you get the kiss him/her when you have chosen who to support. I expected at least 2 scenes... But I only got to kiss Merrill in the end. Pity. You do, however, end up with Isabela at the end of your journey according to Varric when he is done telling the story. And Leliana... Annoying but precious Leliana... I really wonder what her role will be in DA3.

Anyways the two factions are both insane and dysfunctional and there is no good outcome when you sided either the two of 'em.

You will fight Meredith and Orsino regardless of which you are sided with.

Except that the mages didn't really have anything to do with what Meredith was trying to kill them for. With the exception of Orsino and one other mage, none at the Gallows battle use blood magic. That alone makes the player look like a bit of a heel by supporting the Templars.
