  • This is nice video stuff

  • stacking poor people on top of each other is a bad idea. paying women to breed is bad public policy.

  • REGISTER AS A REPUBLICAN TO GET RON PAUL IN THE PRESIDENTIAL RACE... GOD HELP US..

  • @paulstroie Cult-like affection. You're creepy.

  • YOu are forgetting that inflation makes 4 dollars worse less every year. Thus their is a need for a minimum wage. With minimum wage the employee is considerated slave labour, imagine the consequences without it.

  • @felixsavvy13 93% of the jobs in the US pay above the minimum wage without being told to because those wages were reached through the supply/demand system.

  • @Ravengaurd6 If only the remaining seven percent of the jobs are paid at the minimum wage, how do you explain the level of poverty experienced in America? And it is common knowledge that ninety percent of the wealth is held by less than ten percent of the population. Supply/deman system? I don't thing so mate.

  • @felixsavvy13 well for one thing the mixed market system we have doesn't always operate hand and hand with the price system, because govt intervention causes false signals and mal-investment. just like with the great depression and the housing crash.

even though two crashes before the depression cleared.

we are not in a capitalist society, so you can't even blame the principles of it because we haven't been following them. the governments been involved with the economy since the 1890's!

  • @felixsavvy13 mostly poverty includes people that are unemployed. they are unemployed because the businesses they worked for let them go to cut cost, if not losses or they can't get hired for . the businesses higher people to produce goods and services at the market price set by the wages demanded ,skill offered and skill required. MW is a price floor that cuts those below it from the market. most of the ones that don't qualify for MW are the young and poor that stay unemployed.

  • Pretty sure Williams is a libertarian. Not conservative.

  • Just saw the end. 1983

  • Does anyone know what year this film was made?

    Thank you.

  • When will conservatives learn that the majority of blacks arent poor, or yearning for a free hand out from the government and that they use broad generalizations that are a throwback to the pre 1950's. Secondly republicans have a worse track record of uplifting minorities out of poverty than the dems ever had.

  • @TheCaliCapitalist Here you are again spreading pure BULLSHIT. Tell me one thing the Dems did that can top the Republicans freeing the slaves. JUST ONE!

  • @Xantheus07

Its not about one uping each other its about who is doing whats best for the country or their constituents. When republicans first ran it was for strong central government.

  • @TheCaliCapitalist Its not about one uping and yet you say "Secondly republicans have a worse track record of uplifting minorities out of poverty than the dems ever had." Dems created the KKK , Dems created Jim Crow laws, Dems created Segregation so please tell me where you get the sense Dems have uplifted minorities?

  • @Xantheus07

All of that was created by southerners. Southerners have traditionally been alot more conservative than the north. You can say whatever you want but all of that was created by right wingers no matter how much you try to deny it. Dems didnt create the KKK confederate soldiers. Confederate supporters today are all right wing reublican. Segregation and Jim Crow were created by and upheld by the most right wing people in this nation. Nothing can dispute that.

  • @TheCaliCapitalist Southerns were like most of the US at the time conservative about religious crap. Being a conservative Republican is more about conserving the notions this country was built on namely the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence you know "ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL" jazz. Which is why the Republican party came into being in the first place. Republicans have ALWAYS stood for less government intruding in peoples which is why they fought for equality and women's right.

  • When will balcks learn that The Dems and Handouts of the Progressives are just there to hold them back and keep their vote. Overcome it, and be proud of your accomplishments and let's move forward!

  • Smart, well educated man.

  • Blacks aren't conservative because conservatives are for the most the anti poor and defiantely RACIST/

  • @TheCaliCapitalist actually most blacks hold conservative views but they side the dems because they believe the dems actually mean what they say when they want help blacks. but they don't and they harm blacks. Ironically Brother Malcolm x warned the black populace to beware the white liberal snake and his dependence games.

  • Walter Williams is not a conservative. He is a libertarian.

  • And if you want the big family early or if you're one of these misguided souls that think having baby mamas and fathers is some kind of badge of honor, well understand you'll have to work harder to have what the next person without a family doing the same thing has. Don't jump on the 'hate the rich' wagon. lol Nor the 'hate the single guy' wagon. Yes it exists. See it all the time.

  • I'd like to know the percentage of folks here calling this man bunk, who have or had early families. I've noticed a lot of the people I run into who despise the conservative view of good work ethic paying off usually have kids and baby mamas running around. If you have some big ass family or if paying child support, then no! hard work probably won't help you but you did that to yourself. Get priorities in order! Noticed they don't like saving their money either. WTF?

  • the problem isn'tthe minimum wage, it's the fact that us black fought for integration instead of independance. We had our own stock market until we were integrated. Now we are fighting for jobs instead of starting business'. We are dependant on a gov. That hates us. He may not think racism is a part of it, but it is. If a wt bz owner sees two kids, one black and one white, both equally intellegent. who do you think gets the job? Of course the wt kid, because the boss relates to his own better.

  • @breezyage. the prob is us. we should fight 4 independence like u say. we should still be fighting and until we fight for that it is our fault. we are letting the govt destroy us.

  • I'll pick up an Idea on minimum wages: Subsidise poverty and you get more of it.

  • Natural law dictates that every one has a right to work to earn a living. Government works very hard to regulate and interfere with peoples lives by way of "Do-Gooders" who destabilize and dictate who is capable to perform said duties. If one person who works hires another to train you have not created a sweatshop. "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day." "Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." Thank you Afikanliberation

  • @ShipsHaven Er, no he isn't. He's saying there shouldn't be a minimum wage. He's typical of the deluded well-to-do Con who still believe it's possible for eveyone to get out of poverty through plain hard work. The few who get the break will still exist, regardless of whether there's a guaranteed income for low earners or not, and a 4 year old kid can easily understand that giving someone even less money than the minimum wage will add to the social problems, the blight, the affront of poverty.

  • By the way, comparing poverty solutions in Bangla Desh to the USA, the richest country on earth, is nothing short of retarded.

  • Hey Mr Williams, take the lead. Give yourself a big wage cut and show us how to live on it.

  • the amount of ignorance posted in these comments section is saddening to say the least ...

  • Seeing that unemployment among blacks is almost at 40% obama and the democrats exploited these voters to get elected and then forgot about them! Not exactly the hope & change they were promised.

  • Economics are a hard pill to swallow, but Dr.Williams is right. All ignorant negroes can say is "uncle tom" over and over. Meanwhile the teen unemployment for blacks in 2010 is at 40%.

  • The Black community needs leaders like Mr. Williams instead of Al Sharpton and Jessee Jackson who earn their living off racial conflict.

  • Before 1938 EVERY brotha had a job makin' 10 cent an hour.

  • LMAO...Unemployment before the min wage law was only 9.5 percent? Shoot before Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation the black unemployment rate was zero percent!! This is utterly ridiculous.

  • @nipseysparkles /watch?v=7DS0XXFdyfI that is another video rthis idiot did he is saying that blacks are to stupid to get even a minimum wage job better lower the bar

  • I'm sorry but this is would be laughable of it weren't so sad. Every fast food joint can pay the minimum wage. Most of them can afford to pay more. Maybe people would be more inclined to work these jobs if they felt it a little more profitable to them. Even in the 80s McDonalds averaged thousands of dollars per hour of income. At $3.35 per hour and entire crew cost them about $30. Give me a break!!! Who is this guy? A paid token black for the GOP to propagate to the black community? Next.

  • @jhoopingarner1 If every fast food joint could afford to pay more but doesn't, you would predict that no fast food joints should be going out of business! And yet they do; frequently in the poorest communities. You are wrong, please adjust your beliefs.

And the man in the video is a professor of economics and a man who pulled himself up from poverty by hard work and diligent studying. You ought to show him more respect.

  • gentrification that decimated the independent economic and social well being of working class black neigborhoods in the 1950,s years before the 1960,s is a major culprit in the creation of poverty in low income neighborhoods that were once stable. Too often the conservatives overlook this fact . They also overlook Reaganomics that cut investment in the summer jobs programs that prepared pow income youth for future employment .

  • @martymaul What is gentrification and how did it decimate working class neighborhoods?

  • 1:23 - It has something to do with IQ, at least that can explain a lot of these particular issues.

  • When the government becomes a nursemaid to the population, you can guarantee that the public will allow it. What is wrong with this country? It has become a welfare state. It's time to push the little birdies out of the nest and encourage our youth to stand on their own two feet, not to depend on the government.

  • Is this the lunatic that sat in for Limbaugh recently. Man, this guy is twisted. Living in another dimension with his self-hatred. He's bound to land a gig on Faux News: The Uncle Walter Show.

  • What year is this from?

It looks like its from 1982/83.

  • I can't believe 2 people managed to click thumbs down on this video. I'm white and my mom could have made me purple & green for all is care - still a huge thumbs up for this video serie. Darn I wished I was courageous enough to do more than to just click thumbs up on a video... I wonder if Obama (who looks like a smart man) will ever look at these and realize...

  • Thank you, Dr. Williams, for your usual fine work! And thanks to the poster too.

  • Ghetto schools are not the only schools giving out horrible educations. My cousin graduated from an "A" school not knowing how to spell simple words. It was a sham of an education.

  • When your government guarantees the success of those who are to big to fail, you can expect that there will be no room for others to succeed.

  • @Freethought42 Wow that's good. Did you think of that or did you get it from someone else?

  • I'd ditch the Dems, a lot of good they've done for the Black folks. The Mexicans will be the new blacks soon.

Abandoning hard work, and looking to the nanny state and blaming the "Whites" for everything.

  • Our current economic system makes everybody the new black folks in a sense...

  • Not all blacks abandon hard work and look to the nanny state but these are some things that have be instilled in them over the years through a sub-par public education system which I believe really sets them and other minority groups up to fail. I also feel that this what leads to a lot of the racial disparity that exists among us today.

The only way to change this is through education, let people know that a lot of these government institutions are in essence here to set them up for failure.

  • Be careful advocating more education, because today's version of education is nothing short of brainwashing. Schools oftentimes commit educational fraud that deliberately sets those who attend those schools for failure

  • @chewbaca1989 everyone needs to vote Libertarian and get both Liberals and Conservatives out of office!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @chewbaca1989

This post is total idiocy. Minimum wage, inner-city government-provided slum schools and licensing laws screw the "blacks" out of jobs and skills. If blacks don't work hard or aren't talented, why are they so successful in music, athletics, and so many other creative areas that don't require licenses, degrees or entry-level apprenticeships? And if they don't want to work, why do many of them work so hard at running drugs when given no other options? You know shit about the world.

  • @EGarrett01

I think your arguing my point. Get rid of "help" from the Federal Government. Would you like to see the Latinos, who will be a majority at some point in the future, competing against black in sports and music while a vast number will have to live in segregated barrios? Competing against Blacks to sell drugs?

  • @chewbaca1989

I don't think you got my point. You refer to "the blacks" as abandoning hard work, looking to the nanny state for help and blaming white people for everything. My post was explaining how the nanny state isn't helping nor do most black people like or even trust the government. Black people also haven't "abandoned hard work" when they work hard at and succeed in almost every area where government policies and government provided crap education doesn't fuck them over.

  • @EGarrett01

Education that is crap but somehow folks from all walks of life end up excelling in all matters of discipline. Black folks vote 90% Democrat, so I hope you are right and are unhappy with governance. Hopefully the dialogue will be what do we expect from government as it is untrustworthy.

  • Watch the entire thing and read a few of his articles before making a decision. He gives examples of groups, such as the Chinese in Malaysia, who are officially (i.e. it's actually written in their constitution) discriminated against but who on the whole do better than the Malays. And most folks want to do business with the guy whose going to give them the best deal. Resorting to your line of thinking is for people who want to guilt-trip members of their community into getting ripped off

  • Also, Jesus, whom I think you are referring to, was a Middle Eastern Jew, far from the culture of the "Whites" today.

  • Huh?

    1) Do you have any evidence to support your claim or at least some sort of test of its veracity?

    2) Do you really think that the only possible explanation for blacks preferring to do business with whites is that they worship some white dude? (I assume you are referring to Christianity)

    3) How do you know that worship of someone who's white necessarily leads to worship of everyone who's white? Is this god's whiteness even central to the religion? Is this god even white?

  • @MyNameIsSamael

What the hell are you talking about? How will the blacks gain conscience of "the lies" of religion if they are not educated about it? They, we, need to liberate ourself economically and gradually be able to afford to resist the different dogmas of the society. The economic battle is therefore of primary order, along with the fallacies of religions.

  • @AFRIKTODAY you're looking a black, irreligious, secular humanist, and Libertarian, right here.

  • @docdoom187 LOL....nice....I guess freedom is our common bond then...

  • I worked for that $3.35/hr in college and worked for less at Dunkin Donuts during that same period because they could pay server's wages because it was "possible" for us to get tips even though we usually didn't. I saw a lot of people at Dunkin devise ways to steal since they were not paid well.

  • yeah well Dunkin Donuts isn't exactlya carreer for life, right?

  • This Negro was clearly misguided.

  • @docmechanic he is an uncle tom
