Second, what weight is your flywheel? I have an AP1 and want to add a 9lbs Flywheel but heard it will not be practical in driving every day and should only be used for dragracing. what is your experience with this?
@k9forkids With the 9lb pulley the car put down 330RWHP, 210TQ at Autowave on their DynoDynamics dyno. I dont recall exactly the weight of the flywheel that was on the car but I want to say it was also 9lbs. I thought the car rev'd nicely and didnt notice any problems with having to "shift too much" which is also what I had heard before my install. The flywheel really isnt going to make the car impractical but a clutch with high pedal pressure and quick engagement could do so.
I had a couple S2000s...a 2001 and a 2004...great, well built cars, with a nice balance. I never saw them as fast though...it is relative i guess. I have a modified E55 AMG which makes my s2000s feel like buicks...it accelerates so much faster at any speed...and seats 5...i do miss the convertible top though...
@F20VTEC OH my goodness, I was 3 MPH short?! I went 167MPH on the 15N from LA to Vegas. It was amazing, the S2 is very stable at high speeds. Them cars looked like they were bolted to the ground when passed. Good driving F20VTEC!!! I don't have my S2 now. I also blew motor twice, valved dropped! I took the motor out and got it sleeved by Darton, then I'm going to send the lower & upper to Endyne. Saving up for straight cash purchase for a replacement S2, going to get it by winter 2012 hopefully.
It's scary going fast especially on roads but fun maxing out speed, I max out my inlaw supra at 186mph. It have about a little over 650 hp. Good thing I did it on the track cause it was awesome.

Hi, just wondering if you could have pushed past 170? I noticed the rpm was sitting around the 7,000 mark so you should have been right in the power zone. Was the problem the aerodynamics of the car or you just didn't want to push any harder?
@tianjinshin I really dont think so, if anything it probably could have got to 172 but not much more. The steering wheel covers most of RPM range but if you look closely you can see the RED at the end of the RPM meter blinking. It was just about topped out when I let off. Also, where I shut it down the fwy begins to turn into a slight incline which affected the potential.

@crooner12 I had no problems at all running 9psi all day long. I was told I could go up to 12psi on the stock block but never really felt the need. Autowave in HB, CA performed most of the motor work and dyno tuning for the car and they were amazing to deal with.

@yb600whp - yes, this is with a stock final drive. If I remember correctly, it was dyno'd at 332whp on a Dyno Dynamics dyno which typically reads about 18-19% lower than a Dynojet for comparison.
@Silenxer - lol, first off you are an idiot. 170kph = 105 mph. Pass people at 105 mph and tell me what it looks like. Also, a stock AP1 S2K will hit 114mph in 4th gear. Watch the revs and count the shifts.

slow down and do the math there buddy, 90mph in 3rd is right on par for the average 6sp sports car, and even a bone stock S2000 will blast right past 170kph no problem.

I want to do a run in my 300ZX before I twin turbo it, I hope for 150mph on flat... theoretical top speed is 164 based on gearing but I know I won't get close to that without boost. @Silenxer - lol, first off you are an idiot. 170kph = 105 mph. Pass people at 105 mph and tell me what it looks like. Also, a stock AP1 S2K will hit 114mph in 4th gear. Watch the revs and count the shifts.
I have a run I made in KPH which I hit 274kph. Sit down - shut up.

@nopstnz8 I was running an AEM EMS. i believe a stock S2k is limited to 156mph.

slow down and do the math there buddy, 90mph in 3rd is right on par for the average 6sp sports car, and even a bone stock S2000 will blast right past 170kph no problem.
And to the video poster: Sweeet ride, sounds great! I want to do a run in my 300ZX before I twin turbo it, I hope for 150mph on flat... theoretical top speed is 164 based on gearing but I know I won't get close to that without boost. I'll probably never get to see though, too scared of the police :(
