We had been "fighting" the last few days. My lovely soprano wife played this for me and sang part of it. Melted my heart and brought tears to my eyes. Made the last few days disappear and replaced with love for her.

Having been a diehard Elton fan for 40 years now, owning ALL of his '70s albums and most of the rest--and having seen him in concert at least 7 times since 1975--I thought I'd seen and heard it all from him. Until THIS. I always liked this song a lot, but it never held much distinction from many other great songs.. until NOW. This performance is mesmerizing.. haunting.. almost supernatural. I cannot stop playing this over and over again. It is now my favorite EJ song ever. Unbelievable talent!!!

Why the fuck are people so godamned thick head?! Everytime I come back to this awsome vid I'm seeing more, "gay isn't something you're born with. It's something you choose to be against god's will."? Come the fuck on! Users lke Bodebodango should stay the fuck out of here if they want nothing more than to try to brainwash people.
@weirdguy75 Its funny because you or gays are the biggest bigots of all! I have the right too be against your way off life, and disagree with it! I am only stating what the God I believe in says is wrong! The minute someone goes against your belief of Homosexuality you attack, and organize a parade! And If you noticed I also pointed out God hates all sin! Just remember I was born with the anti-gay gene, so it;s not my fault I'm against it, or don't understand you perversion, I was born that way!
@Bodebodango Pedophiles say they are born that way too, and are genetically predisposed too like children! The bottom line is its wrong, against the law, and society does not approve! The bottom line is they do not have to act upon the sin, instead they choose too, and pay the price for their perversion as well as the children! The act is in question, and a choice can be made to not act upon your sexual urge no matter what it is! Heterosexuals are also guilty of sexual crimes against Gods Law!
@Bodebodango In Leviticus, your god also condones wearing mixed fibers, eating shrimp, and beard trimming as offenses punishable by death. You, sir, are a moron.
@Bodebodango for the rercord you blind moron i'm straight but I have many friends who aren't and I respect their rights as humans. And the fact that your so blind by your beliefs makes me feel very sorry for people like you. !
@weirdguy75 You didn't answer anything I said above you just called me a moron for voicing my opinion reverse bigotry! I respect the rights of all people, but I will not defend what I believe is wrong nor will I condone it! It is a crime against God, not of man or myself! But just as those who break the laws of society pay a penalty, so will they pay a penalty! I do not judge but bare witness! I to would have to pay the same penalty but God bought me for a price, and by Gods grace I am saved!
@Bodebodango You really think, if Elton John has blessed our planet earth with beautiful music, spent his whole life a good man, never killed, raped, cheated, stole. You really think any god would smite a perfect man for liking a penis and not a vagina. You honestly believe that God, the almighty and powerful would eternally damn someone for having a different sexual preference than you and I? If so, than let you be damned.
@Bodebodango You're the smut our society has to tolerate. You're no different than any other man on this planet. The only thing different is that you've chosen to live your life a hater. A hater of anyone who is not exactly like you. You are no better than hitler. My good sir you are the one who should be damned, not a man who spent his life creating gorgeous pieces like this one.
@anibeastly According to the word of God Homosexuality isn't the only way to be damned! If you ask God to reveal his truth he will! Instead all of u cut and paste what fits your lifestyles!
@Bodebodango Christ never said a word against gays. But "judge not lest ye be judged", "let he who is without sin cast the first stone". There's nothing wrong with being gay, no more than being left-handed. So many so-called Christians do the opposite of what Jesus said, "turn the other cheek", "blessed are the peacemakers", "go and give all you have to the poor"...instead what we get are bigotry, guns, wars, capital punishment, hatred, and a very selective approach to the bible indeed.
@mizofan Christ didnt have to say a word against gays, all of nature cries out against gays or more accurately gay acts. By the way i love Sir Elton John.
@mizofan no all nature does not cry out against him. Nature crys out against all gay sex. That is y gay sex is sterile. Sterile means no future. This is y all societies have been so hostile to gays. Societies want a future. This is y people celebrate at weddings. Weddings equal kids in the future, or use to. The reason y sex is so much fun is because when having sex we r equal to GOD. God is creator. Sex is creating a child. This is God's will that we share in his Goodness. His creativity
@weirdguy75 Homosexuality makes up 2% of the population! So I guess the squeaky wheel does get the greasing? And for the record I have met Elton and talked with him and have loved his music for years, as well as loving this video! But that doesn't change the fact I don't agree with his lifestyle!
Hi ! I've always thought that "Blue moves" was probably the best album of Elton John, and particularly this song that I really love. Nice melody, good lyrics, well, all in this song is cool for me. 5* without problems, even without reflecting...Thanks to share it with everybody. BYE !
This appeared on HBO back in 77 or 78 when he announced he was retiring. This is the song(as well as others)that was edited out.I read that Stevie Wonder performed a song with EJ,too.I think it was Bite Your Lip..
One of their best collaborations. Pure genius. Must say this is one song where I prefer the more mature Elton voice. His playing is soooooo much better nowadays.
one of the most emotional songs from his Blue Moves album-a dark time for Elton as it was for me. The pressure to produce another powerful record like Captain Fantastic was huge and he was battling his own depression as well. Blue Moves is full of this deep sorrow and pain. Glad he hung in there and is still a part of our world today
It wasn't Elton who was going through a rough time, it was Bernie. Blue Moves was the 1st album were Elton refused Bernie's lyrics. They were said to be too depressing. Blue Moves, for all its depressing and sad songs in one of the finest albums ever made.
I think they both were, Elton personal drugs booze sexuality, and with bernie too. However Blue Moves is truly an under appreciated album, and pretty ballsy
blessed... possessing...moments in my past captured by this song. now with the hearing of it i can revisit them in fond memory. Thank You reginald Thank You..forever.....
@weirdguy75 ,actually i'm a fan of him since 1991, and i will stay a fan of him because of his great art and sense, and i will always wish that he is not gay because this not what a man is ment to be. all the best :)
@yamenshaker and who are you to say what man is supposed to be? I'm just making a legitimate argument here. I'm going to make an assumption you believe god wants men to be with women. well that bullshit means nothing. People choose to be who they're truly happy with. Enough said!
@weirdguy75 gay is wrong. gays are not bad. if man thinks that his happiness might be in opposing nature, then man will be on the way of extinction, what will happen if someone could convence all the humen race that happiness is in being with the same gender? there will be no more natural pragnency, and i think you know where i m going with this... just be what ever you want to be, It doesn't matter to any one but yourself. peace
@weirdguy75 Yes people do choose who they want to be with regardless of the consequences! If u knew that you would never enter Heaven because of your sexual actions and would burn in hell because of your freedom to do as u please, would you then choose not to lye down with the same sex! The act is what is upsetting to God! And the act is not something you were born with, it is something you choose to do in opposition to Gods wishes! We all do this every time we sin!
@Bodebodango Oh man you are like a goddam broken record. We get it god good gay bad. Tell you what why not go to a different site and try to brainwash people with your conservative bullshit elsewhere!
Thanks for posting this video! What a treat to see James Newton Howard play on this song instead of just conducting an orchestra which is what we usually see.
Do you have a video of this song of just Elton and Ray Cooper? It would have been interesting to see how things would have sounded if the three had played during this concert.
This has been my most favorite song for the last 30 years and I can always hear this song in my ears no matter where I am. Elton I love you soooo much and God bless you beautiful soul my darling.
brilliant as always. so this would be same concert as the live track on the box set, "I Feel Like a Bullet". I can now brag that I have EVERY CD album from my idol. And currently putting together a CD that would be Greatest Hits Vol. IV and Vol. V, since the Box Set and "Love Songs". I can say it's a fabulous collection. I'm collecting the 45's again to put together another CD together, it'll be called "Flip Side", a collection of B-sides since "Rare Masters".
I don't think it is. I've got this concert on dvd and he doesn't sing "I Feel Like A Bullet." Unless of course the dvd is edited but i don't think it is.
I agree bkhistoryguy, this is superb. Whilst I'm sure it's a good "show" I'm not a fan of the cartoon music he's pumping out in Vegas. Recently his live performances have slipped into auto pilot. Some of the arrangements of songs have been the same for 10 years now. And I hate the tinny sound of the Yamaha piano he plays thesedays - compare it with the growl of this piano which adds even more soul to the song
Absolutley YES. ELton MUST respect himself more because of this kind of things. If he could do it once he can still do it today. But...he prefers VEgas, obviously.
My goodness, what an incredible performance! This song is brilliant, from an otherwise very uneven double album, Blue Moves, which nonetheless has its shining moments. This composition proves Elton's skill in writing classical, moving music. Thanks a lot for sharing, greatly appreciated!
I think when he plays with the band, they hide a lot of the piano. It makes it hard sometimes to hear the result of all that classical training and just how comlex some of those melodies are.
This is simply beautiful. Elton John is a music genius and a deeply romantic human.

this guy is a ridiculously fantastic performer.
lol, people who argue about being gay are stupid
because on one side you have the people, who see that gay people and normal people are both equal human beings
and on the other side is people who are talking about a religious belief that isnt even tangible past what they make it be
and the funniest part, NEITHER OF THE FUCKING SIDES LISTEN TO EACH OTHER
so just as long as people dont force their ideals on others(ie killing someone) then who cares?

One of their best collaborations. Pure genius. Must say this is one song where I prefer the more mature Elton voice. His playing is soooooo much better nowadays.

one of the most emotional songs from his Blue Moves album-a dark time for Elton as it was for me. The pressure to produce another powerful record like Captain Fantastic was huge and he was battling his own depression as well. Blue Moves is full of this deep sorrow and pain. Glad he hung in there and is still a part of our world today
murago59 3 years ago 3
It wasn't Elton who was going through a rough time, it was Bernie. Blue Moves was the 1st album were Elton refused Bernie's lyrics. They were said to be too depressing. Blue Moves, for all its depressing and sad songs in one of the finest albums ever made.
garystaley 2 years ago
Elton was also going through a bad time, he stated that a lot of times.
1nsectmind 2 years ago
I think they both were, Elton personal drugs booze sexuality, and with bernie too. However Blue Moves is truly an under appreciated album, and pretty ballsy

@THESOULbornold many do appreciate, and me, but i don't likr that he is gay (sorry)
yamenshaker 1 year ago
@yamenshaker then you don't fully appreciate him. Don't toss him back just because he prefers guys.
weirdguy75 1 year ago
@weirdguy75 ,actually i'm a fan of him since 1991, and i will stay a fan of him because of his great art and sense, and i will always wish that he is not gay because this not what a man is ment to be. all the best :)
yamenshaker 1 year ago

Tell you what why not go to a different site and try to brainwash people with your conservative bullshit elsewhere!

he struggles to hit some of those high notes!! He sounds amazing deeper i think, with the ROH this song is the most beautiful i've ever heard.

Thanks for posting this video! What a treat to see James Newton Howard play on this song instead of just conducting an orchestra which is what we usually see.
Do you have a video of this song of just Elton and Ray Cooper? It would have been interesting to see how things would have sounded if the three had played during this concert.

Just Beautiful. Watch my videos if you wanna see Elton singing Tonight with the ROH.
I think Elton should have keep playing on a acoustic piano like this one, it sounds quite better than the digital Yamaha :'(

Elton I love you. I have always loved you.

brilliant as always. so this would be same concert as the live track on the box set, "I Feel Like a Bullet". I can now brag that I have EVERY CD album from my idol. And currently putting together a CD that would be Greatest Hits Vol. IV and Vol. V, since the Box Set and "Love Songs". I can say it's a fabulous collection. I'm collecting the 45's again to put together another CD together, it'll be called "Flip Side", a collection of B-sides since "Rare Masters".
gselander 3 years ago 3
I don't think it is. I've got this concert on dvd and he doesn't sing "I Feel Like A Bullet." Unless of course the dvd is edited but i don't think it is.

What a great song. I didn´t know he sang this song in this concert. This is great.
ElVirtual2007 4 years ago 2
I agree bkhistoryguy, this is superb. Whilst I'm sure it's a good "show" I'm not a fan of the cartoon music he's pumping out in Vegas. Recently his live performances have slipped into auto pilot. Some of the arrangements of songs have been the same for 10 years now. And I hate the tinny sound of the Yamaha piano he plays thesedays - compare it with the growl of this piano which adds even more soul to the song
londonfun2006 4 years ago 3
Elton if you are out there, THIS is the music you should be playing, not being some wind up doll they cart out every night in Vagas!
bkhistoryguy 4 years ago 5
Absolutley YES. ELton MUST respect himself more because of this kind of things. If he could do it once he can still do it today. But...he prefers VEgas, obviously.

My goodness, what an incredible performance! This song is brilliant, from an otherwise very uneven double album, Blue Moves, which nonetheless has its shining moments. This composition proves Elton's skill in writing classical, moving music. Thanks a lot for sharing, greatly appreciated!
torturedej 4 years ago
I think when he plays with the band, they hide a lot of the piano. It makes it hard sometimes to hear the result of all that classical training and just how comlex some of those melodies are.
