  • I get the feeling that the pentium they used a really shitty graphics card in the computer with the Pentium

  • Apple had intel back then too?! I thought they started that in 2006. Also, why is it called the g3 if it uses an intel core as well?

  • Comment removed

  • That guy coughing from 3:50 was getting on my nerves.

  • Steve was pretty good at giving speech's, no cue cards, just off the top of his head.

  • I like how he refers to that proccesor as a ''Speed Demon''

  • NAW I wish they still did presentations like this!

  • Steve?

  • who is coughing

  • @nautbijker Him. CONSTANTLY.

  • This comment was send from my PowerMac G3.

  • 400 Mhz HAHAHA

back then its was so fast

    today its so slow

  • steve: maybe it revert you to get back to a macintosh

  • When I firs saw the B&W G3 in our studio, that's when I knew Apple was back for good.

  • R.I.P. Steve Jobs

    We will miss you dearly.

  • i traded an ipod touch 1st gen for a B&W G3 yesterday and honestly i love it , updating it right now

  • 450 Mhz... WOW!!!

  • @minxkitty8 Back then that was AWESOME!

  • GRAPHICS!

  • somebody done a lot of coughing in this keynote... XD

  • Steve? Where did your hair go?:P

  • HAL is slower than my phone!

  • Worst part is, that my Dell from 2006 had the same graphics card... I did upgrade it to a 4670 with a gig of gddr3 ram

  • 16 Mb Graphic memory, sweeet :D

  • in 1999 I had an alienware with a 128mb graphics card. I had a Coppermine pentium 3 processor running at 1ghz. And it had a gig of fricken ram. powermac g3: The fastest pc in the industry. I think not.

  • @coolguylstan Early 1999 Powermac G3 compared with LATE 1999 Alienware maybe?

  • @coolguylstan you pretty fair... Compare a early 1999 powermac g3 to a late 1999 alienware.Try to compare that alienware to a powermac g4.I think that the powermac g4 is killed the pentium 3.

  • wow that is a speed demon

  • "Please exit the auditorium in 5 4"

    MALFUNCTION

"Whoa! Whoa! We almost had our presentation cancelled!"

  • GET THAT MAN A LOZENGE!

  • In Steve Job's back pocket was an iPhone.

  • lmao @ hal

  • Phil Shiller is so new to the keynote thing!

  • can it run crysis 2?

  • @bmiggy93 no. duh

  • @bmiggy93 no but your mom can.

  • HOLY SHIT! 400 MHz!

  • HONEYCOMB You tube DEMO at CES 2011. Watch it all at

    prathameshpawar(dot)blogspot(dot) com

  • scarry how fast computers are advancing...my first was a 486 dx266 running 66 mhz. 500mb hard drive. 64 meg ram, 4 meg video ram...that was fast then! Of course this G3 was a breakthrough now they have 12 cores of 2600 mhz, unreal

  • wow 25 MB!!!

  • sounds like Steveo had a little acid reflex!!

  • @simonhead666 I was wondering about that.

  • does anyone remeber the sales figures? hahahahahahahahahahhahahaha

  • @VorkeyYT u like cum in your mouth?

  • @VorkeyYT ask your dad! I hear he can handle more than one cock at a time!

  • I'm coming, it just takes a second! His horse is coming too!

  • Apple have kept Goals 3 and 4, but 1 and 2?.....

  • Phil has been in apple for years, and was in NeXT, I have seen him in many of steves presentation...

  • i dont believe that, the pentium 2 machine is slower if the use a msdos-based windows, this test with the picturerendering says nothing. its the way how a operating system core uses the power of a cpu

  • @FlipidusX Non of that matters. The end result is a faster or slower machine from the users perspective. If it takes longer for one system to do it then you're getting less done in the same time, so you're technically making less money. This is why companies buy workstations that cost thousands of dollars (running whatever OS, they're still expensive), so they get more done in less time, thus make more money in less time.

  • @FlipidusX You should belive it. Because the powerpc processors are always really fast They were faster than the pentiums.

  • WoW P2 could speak

  • Steve meant to say IBM at 0:55

  • I wonder how much ram both machines had but in the end they had a very god platform back in their day.

  • Dude stop coughing

  • @4eyessss he has a sickness and now her drinks water now to stop it

  • Old macs:Awesome machines, with great features (compared to the other computers of that age) simple, easy and nice os.

Now... If you want a computer you can choose between a PC or a MAC. The MAC computers of today are really expensive and outdated but well if you dont need some features, its a good option. PCs of today are best, PCs of the past are worse and some of them horrible (well just some) now PCs are awesome machines. Believe me. When i think about MAC i think about the IMAC G3.

  • when i wached the photoshop file my computerfan spedup as if it was doing it.

  • what is the Hal?

  • CAN HE STOP COUGHING?

  • I like it how Steve says "MACINTOSH" not "Mac". Mac is such a cheesy name. Computers of such power deserve a better name. If they stayed with IBM and Motorola the Macintosh would mean the same as it did then.

  • wait..did he say intel at 0:58? lmao

  • /me sad that Apple no longer makes those beautiful PowerPC machines.

  • Sounds like we've got someone with tourettes coughing into the mic.

  • You guys what the hell was that red thing talking???

I had a feeling it was Bill Gaits!!!

  • @Alekseriator it was HAL9000 the computer onboard of the spaceship in Stanley Kubrick's "2001: a space odyssey"

  • I don't think Best Graphics applies anymore

  • Holy Crap! If I had gotten that as a Christmas Present in '99-'00, i would have shit my pants!

    Instead I got a PowerMac G5 Quad!

  • stop clearing your throat steve! i understand the uncomfortable situation while standing next to phil but jesus, just drink something.

  • @cheddar722 he had something wrong with him at the time idiot

  • @slayersdeath thanks for telling me. I really appreciate it. Idiot.

  • @cheddar722 I think this may be due to a nervous tic xD I have had one of these at some point in my life.

  • who's hawking there all the time ?

  • I just recovered one that was discarded, with a 9+ GB SCSI drive with OS 9.2.2 and Adaptec card, using the PATA for the one optical drive, I put a DVD drive in there and it still won't work, oddly. Some software as well, won't install. Namely USB for Dazzle hardware capture device and Windows MPlayer 7.0 for Macs, oddly, won't install successfully.

  • Macbook HAIR

  • I have the beige G3 as well as the B&W G3

  • must be an SSD on the mac;)

  • i have one of these :D

  • cough...cough....cough...steve jobs is so damn annoying...

  • his catch phrase is- 'it's beautiful' he sez it at least 6 times per conference.

  • MULAN!!!!!!!!!

  • core architecture is the most powerful architecture ever exist on this planet (core2/core i7). they beat powerpc 6 x2 6ghz with relatively low clockrate (1.8ghz pentium dual core can easily pace 6ghz ibm powerpc dual core) risc had reach its limit. plus ibm hired netburst team that recently kicked out from intel to help them rise the claockrate but they fail in performance.

PS: glad apple finally join the future, with intel-nvidia-mac technology these old mac fan will cry loud lol

  • If the core processors are so powerful, why does every nextgen console have a Power PC?

Seriously there are better architectures on this planet!

  • simple, it is about the cost. many game console attempt to lower the manufacture cost as low as possible. a "low cost" decent performance processor like pentium e5300 will cost range $79~109 at the same time the console had to be sold as low as below 200 dollar..and if we are already know that even pentium will cost nearly 65%~70% of console cost than the console must be sell as high as 400 dollor to just cover the manufacture cost. however powerpc seem to be cheaper.

  • a powerg5 and cell processor can be sold as low as $15~40 range (same price as between atom/geode and sampron/celeron) a core 2 will cost as high as $150 not to mention corei5/i7. but a even a atom processor was able to beat powerpc in same clock cycle....beating it in every benchmark without optimization.

if you want to buy a console that is merely cost grands then i wont argue/

  • But the Atom I believe is also way newer than the G5.

  • Adding to my old Atom comment, the iMac G5 came out in 2004 with the PowerPC G5. The Intel Atom came out in 2008.

  • Because maybe the Intel processors are meant for desktops and notebooks?! =-=''!

  • Not really, the first Xbox had an Intel celeron, but the 360 has an PPC. If Intels CPUs are so strong, why dindn't microsoft keep on using them?

  • Because they're more than stupid sometimes!

  • @rhpsfan1929 go read on wiki - microsoft wanted to get in the gaming industry fast and the only way to do that and not wait for ibm to create a proceesor from the ground up, was to use existing technology, examples processor was a celeron p3, gpu was a geforce 3, os was a modded 2000 kernal. etc.

  • the first xbox had a pentium 3 at 733MHz not a celeron

  • PRICE PPC IS DEAD

  • @SMASHITFORTHELULZ since when is it dead?

  • there going to stop making it this year

  • @SMASHITFORTHELULZ If so they'll also have to stop making all the "nextgen" consoles.

  • no theres a massive stock pile of ppc chips for xbox360 ps3 wii etc the new systems will run x86 i asume

  • Send me some links, I couldn't find anything....

  • You assume wrong. The XBox 360 uses a three core variant of the PowerPC G5 designed just for the XBox 360 which is not Intel x86 compatible. Even the Cell processor in the PS3 is G5 based and not x86 compatible. Know what the fuck you are talking about before you post anything again in the future, OK?

  • no i was saying the new systems will run x86

i saw it on youtube btw ps3 wii xbox360 we all no the next gen will arrive very soon its the 360s been out almost 5 years had how the hell is the cell 9 core based a g5 single core ? g5 is shit now days 130nm wtf thats fucking huge /old hot hot hot

  • First of all, you need to learn to spell. The word is 'THEY'RE" the contraction of THEY ARE. Secondly, where do you get your information from? PowerPC is not being discontinued anytime soon. IBM is still using it in servers and Freescale is still developing new CPUS for embedded and other applications.

  • its the internet i aint got time to slpel lulz i just saw it on some vid about apple computers how the hell uses it now days im pritty sure most ppl are on intel or amd x86 cpus lol even sun

  • @gamewizard

    PowerPc its NOT POWER6 !!!

  • No shit, asshole.

  • risc processor sucks

  • hack....hack.....hack....hack.....

  • yes....yes....yes....yes....yes....

  • wow it is slower than a iphone

  • @comneard2 not really

  • @comneard2 haha that's tech for you

  • @comneard2 lol but its from 1999 and iphone is from 2007 and 2010 [iPhone 4] has a 1GHZ Apple A4 Custom Processor

  • @comneard2 and wow...it can run OSX....where a 2000pc cannot run vista or 7.

  • @MACOSXSL

OS X was not available in 1999 when G3 Powermac showed up. OS X came in 2001. You are a NOOB!

  • @comneard2 ur dumbass is slower than iPhone!

  • @comneard2 I'd still rather have the G3.

  • @comneard2 Not mine!

  • MAC is awesome, Microsoft sucks cause its so damn dull!

  • @yamanote99 hoooooooow?

  • @yamanote99 HAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! Stop fucking arguing.

MAC OS is for media etc.

WINDOWS is for gaming and programming etc.

THAT'S IT!!! STOP FUCKING ARGUING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    It's fucking iritating

  • @yamanote99

    wait till payday my friend

  • @yamanote99 The thing about that, is that Macs don't give power users nearly as many options to customize the software (or hardware, for that matter) because Apple holds a monopoly on all of their products. You don't "own" a Mac; you paid for it, it's on your connection, you use it, but Apple owns it.

Anyway, Linux may lack the ability to play most games (unless you use playonlinux), but it's absolutely free, can be patched and improved by the users, and is 100% your software.

  • @Coverfire14 Most people don't care about that, they just want something they can turn on and use without having to modify it to fit their needs. This is more true from a business and productivity stand point. The longer you spend working out how to use it or get it just how you like it the less time you spend actually doing your work and making money. Don't get me wrong, Linux is an amazing and powerful platform, but for most FRONT END users, it's not the best. Backend however, different story.

  • @yamanote99 Why?

I mean, I've got nothing against Mac, I'm a hybrid tbh... But why does Windows suck?

Just 'cause your statement was sort of childish >.o

  • Im a baby

  • I didnt know they did intel cpus in their systems then...

  • I tought it was IBM...

  • yeah it was IBM but he said accidentally said Intel lol

  • steve was ill ffs

  • That's Right, APPLE ROCKS.

but Why make your MS machine Just look like OS X? Under the hood, it's still a Windows machine. simply Get a mac. :)

  • intel???

  • clear your throat ONE MORE TIME!!!

  • look how far apple has come

  • yes, and it's going even further :D

    apple rules!

  • Steve FAIL. A G3 from Intel zD he meant IBM.

  • Ahahhahah FAILURE

  • MacWorld use to be cool

  • whats with all the coughing steve? its annoying

  • he has a cold or something

  • i don't think so, cuz he has it in a lot of other vids around tht time.

  • He was ill. Remember he had an operation for cancer in 2004 I think it was?

  • i no aye

  • Bug Dave

  • lol the windows go shit kiked

  • umm your joking right? What was your computer like in 1999!

  • LOL wintard alert

  • omg u r a fuktard

  • man, he has a bad cough, is this just before he was diagnosed with cancer?

  • No it was much later. 2004 I think.

  • these are speed deamons? what about SCREAMERS!?

  • now for 3d graphics u need 256-512 mb XD

  • thats 2008 were you need that. in 1999 16mb was huge

  • yea, thats half the memory that iMacs came with back then.

  • This is one of the best keynotes they had. It gets funny in the end. :P

  • speed demons muahha!

  • Imagine if sandisk introduced the 8GB MicroSD card in 1998.

  • Steve Jobs is such a brilliant man! ¿Why has he aged so much in just 9 years, is he sick or what?

    :-(

  • He had cancer.

  • Bill Gates is without doubt a brilliant man also, yet Jobs and apple have better and more innovative ideas, it´s my opinion. I own a PC, and I wish I could buy an apple, although I don´t know, because of compatibility issues. I use Autocad just for fun. :-) I dont know if I can use it in apple. Thanks Steve for the IPOD, it´s my favourite right now, I have my entire collection of CD.s in that tiny device! :-)

  • Run Windows XP with Boot Camp and run AutoCAD, it's what I do.

  • i say PCs suck

  • WHy does he keep coughing?

  • lol he said "From Motorola and Intel"

  • Life suppor tsystems will be terminated in 5 se-ZAPhfjkdsgkboom

  • this is what peeps said in the olden days proberly

"4 mhz in a pc thats like a super computer"

  • awesome

  • No shit. The core duos are more than 5 years newer than these. wow.
