  • Nice shooting

  • 20 bullets $106 dollars

  • Is that a mcmillan tac-338

  • @supermemo1999 This is a custom rifle made by Surgeon built on one of their own proprietary EDM made actions. They call this configuration the "Remedy" and is built on an XL action. Surgeon Rifles has a pretty good website. Check it out when ya get the chance. Peace.

  • How much cheaper would it br to handload? I wanted to know because i have a .308 for white tail and i can use that all the way up to elk, if i ever go for moose or grizzley, i want a .338 but those bullets are extremely pricey. Outstanding shooting btw, if your that accurate at 1000 yards then you need to do some compotition.

  • @aswomnessguy I'm shooting Sierra 300 grain boat tail hollow point Match Kings. The projectiles are about $0.60 a piece. I think good penetrating high quality hunting bullets would be comparable or maybe even a little less. Shop arround online for .338 reloading components and add it up. If a guy does it right, you end up with premium ammo at 1/4 the price.

  • @CJ80ish it was probably $125 for a crate of 10 boxes of 20 rounds (200rds.)

  • @IndianapolisPeytons nope, one box of this stuff was $125 at my local gun shop, you can get it cheaper online but it is very expensive to just go and buy

  • holy poop that is a expensive setup but cool nonetheless.

  • @vampov Yeah, I had to choose to get this set-up or a motorcycle. My wife thought this would be much safer, and I suck at driving motorcyles anyways, so I got the rifle. It was a good choice. The motorcylce would have lost 75% of its value by now had I bought that. The rifle has gone up. Firearms are always a solid investment.

  • came across a box of these today... $125 for 20!

  • @CJ80ish I know. Reloading is a MUST with these babies. I launch them for about $0.65 a round now that I invested in the brass. Brass was $2.45 a piece. After that purchase, its do-able.

  • Subscribed. This is how you produce a video for the internet. To the point, but with all the needed information. Definitely a great watch. Thanks

  • That is some very great shooting!

  • AI and TRG are 1/10. The 1/12 will work depending where you AO is. I've sent many 300s from a 1/12 early TRG just fine but I live in CO

  • You can always tell the true rifle nuts from anyone else because they're almost always driving shitty old pickups or SUV's. Surgeon, S&B ... this stuff is not cheap.

    - 94 GMC Sierra

  • @Mattypphillip - lol - My '86 CUCV is ugly, but she will go as long as I can still turn a wrench.

  • @TiborasaurusRex

Just curious - how much does your 338 weigh? What would be the main advantage of going with custom built rifle over something with some sort of chassis like an AIAW, TRG or M98B?

  • @Mattypphillip She weighs about 17 lbs. The main advantage of the Surgeon is the barrel choice. I wanted a twist rate of 1 in 9.5” specifically designed for the 300 grain SMK. The AI AWSM has a 1 in 11" twist (which works OK) and the TRG has a 1 in 12" which doesn't really work. Also, the Surgeon has significantly better accuracy than the others (consistently < 0.5 MOA) as opposed to 0.5 - 1.0 MOA in the AI or the TRG. The Surgeon also has a more stable mount (built right into the receiver).

  • @TiborasaurusRex

Yeah the integral mount on the surgeons are nice. I think Sako has started offering a 1in10 for the TRG but I could be wrong. Man........ I don't know, the the AI is a pretty consistent sub moa rifle - so i've heard. The TRG though, i can believe that since it is the cheaper of the bunch.

You on SnipersHide at all? You'd get mad respect on the Hide for your rig.

  • @Mattypphillip The AWSM is the coolest of all the rifles, its always been my favorite. If you get the right load, they are real real accurate. Anything 0.5 MOA and under is more than enough to do this kind of work. The AI can get down to 0.5 MOA but most of them shoot around 0.75-1 MOA in the real world. The Surgeon groups consistantly below 0.5 MOA. In all reality, a 1 MOA system will do just fine at 1000m. Barrets shoot 1.5 - 2 MOA and they still get way out there as well. It's all on us.

  • @TiborasaurusRex I have a 338 Lapua Mag. Its a Rem mod 700. It has a 1/10 in. twist. How well would it shoot 300 grain?

  • @RobWarrens The 1/10 twist is perfect for the Sierra 300grn BTHP MKs. I think that is what Sierra recommended. Mine is 1 in 9.5” but it seems to have a significant degree of spin-drift even @ 800m.

  • how much does your rifle weigh? i am looking for a .338 LM that doesn't weight 13-15 pounds, or do they all weigh about that much?

  • @ihavacave The rifle itself is about 17 lbs. The whole system with all the perferals needed for a first hit long range shot (the entire set up) weighs 41 lbs. Weight is your friend when you lay down to shoot a few. Recoil in the 17lb .338 rifle with the surefire muzzle break is similar to my 243 target rifle.

  • Good shooting

  • @XxAnythingRandomXx thanks man

  • Great video! Great rifle!

  • Nice Video! S&B Glass!!! Speaks for itself! Sweet setup

  • sweet! i haven't tried the 338 -i've been a die hard 7mm fan. i know there are alot of arguments on both. I'll have to try a 338 out myself to decide.. soon.

  • @MightyMessenger777 I grew up with a 7mm Rem Mag and ballistically they can pretty much keep up with the Lapua just fine. The 300gr MK has a little edge in the wind and hits a little harder, but the 7mm is almost as good. Its all in turning the dials to the right spot. My bud just built up a 7mm and it did fine out to 1100m.

    thanks for the comments, man
