@cutdownsideways Just so you know, those are concentric circles. What I said was "lots of small concentric circles" if you notice, you have a dark ring, and a hollow centre forming 2 concentric circles on every spot of the pattern like a bullseye. I certainly did not mean that all those dots next to each other are concentric which is what I think you just assumed by your comment. Cheers.
@catfish4975 do "they". Where is a video where "they" call this retards Damascus. That would be funny to see. The difference being that this is not Damascus, its a Patina, so "they" must be kind of retarded to even associate oxidation with folding of steel. Oxidation is a useful protective layer. folding steel is a waste of time.
@jinnaraka Oh.. look at the words of a proud Natzi lover Satan worshipper.. What a fucking retard life you must have.. go jerk off to a beauty channel instead of wasting our time.
your knife with the dots looks like the vid of forging a knife out of car timing belt have look for your self its good vid and the patterns from the timing belt look unique
i'm planning on putting my mora in a potato for about 2 hours and then coming in and putting mustard onto the blade in a sort of hamon fashion. wondering how that might turn out
@knivesandstuff turned out pretty nice. I didnt put the mustard on for very long, maybe about 15 minutes per side, but it still left the "hamon" look on it
I did it opposite and covered the majority of the knife so the edge area was exposed rather than applying mustard to the edge. and then put the blade back into the potato for just a bit longer. I like how it came out and how simple it was.
@polarweis Based on you inability to spell even the most simple of words I'm guessing that you will be working in a MacDonalds joint as a toilet cleaner for the rest of your life wishing you could afford all the nice things we smart intelligent people enjoy in life.
@knivesandstuff Well said. I honestly didnt knew achieving a patina with mustard was possible. I applied a very elegant grey one to a forged knife with several layers of French's!
@BeepBeepBoing dont know what you are talking about.. not particularly sure if I care. you may need to elaborate on your nasty word commentary when commenting on something over a year old if you actually want me to know what you are referring to.
@BeepBeepBoing right on guy I agree. it is one thing to be annoyed by someone and vent, it is another thing to wish them a life of fast food and stupidity. think about this, you are the one telling people to play w/ condiments on knives. does that sound like somthing a geius woud do? ya can make designs by mixing damp silverware in a stainless sink over night also, not rocket science there simple oxidation
Very cool, how long did you leave the mustard on in the case of these knives. I think i'm gonna have to do something like that on the next knife I make.
@opawari Patina is a special type of rust. it wont wash of, but it will polish off. Normally its just something that builds up over time as you cut acidic things like onions, apples. or bloods in animals.. its fun to occasionally play around.
@knivesandstuff ,more protection against rust than mild i would say(if it is a good layer).certainly compaired to no patina. in my experience.but i would make it a more darker patina.i like the camo pattern the best of all patterns. but hell.not all patina's are the same.some put a 'pinta' on their blade %-/
does this actualy work

Great work, now how do you remove it?
ssparky88 2 weeks ago
@ssparky88 its just patina.. it will come off instantly with any metal polish, or buffing

I like the look of a patina, but when it takes such a specific patter it looks kinda cheesy. Just an opinion though...

Recon985 1 year ago
@Recon985 most mora knives are stainless which means very little is likely to happen.
knivesandstuff 1 year ago
@knivesandstuff mine is carbon steel, I made sure of that. :)

@Recon985 in that case.. it should look quite nice with a fake hamon :)

what a waste, you could've easly eaten the mustard of that knife =o

will it work with stainless steel?
Templarium 2 years ago
depends on how stainless.. the point of stainless is to resist staining afterall :D
knivesandstuff 2 years ago
How functional are these partial patina's for rust resistance?
Yesmaamiagree 2 years ago
they are not for protection.. just for look. Patina makes only a very mild protection and is not a substitute for maintenance

I think I want to get some vinegar, and thicken it a little and use a syringe... then do a detailed spiral on the blade :)

I'm trying to paint an odd design on the otherside using coffee crystals dissolved in white vinegar.. will see how that turns out. :D
knivesandstuff 3 years ago
That should be interesting.
NechakoRiver 3 years ago
just posted.. came out nice.. Copper coloured
knivesandstuff 3 years ago
Was it the coffee dissolved crystals that produced a copper color result?
tanerofies 2 years ago
yes, the coffee made the coppery look.. i think it will depend on the steel though.. do a small test spot :)
knivesandstuff 2 years ago
yeah.. if it sucks, just polish and go again! :D
