  • lmao! GOSH DAMN LUCKY.

  • I hope nobody got hurt.

  • @halo90200 No humans or animals were hurt in the making of this video. However, I'm sure there were some devastated underwear. lol

  • @chitwood73 That' s good to hear.

  • W.T.F.

  • what happened after did it blow up?

  • @TheSilentElite25 No, after the propellant burnt off it just laid there until it was cool enough to handle and then EOD took it away.

  • i got scared for him

  • It burn cuz thats just of a taste of hell in which theyll burn .

  • why did the mortar began to burn? and why not explosion to through the mortar shell out?

  • @legoprime2000 They had already fired a few mortars in the tube which caused it to heat up a bit. When he held the end in the tube for as long as he did, it cooked just enough to set it on fire. The reason it probably didn't explode is because the safety in the mortar hadn't been tripped yet.

  • As the grenade arms it self after the lonch, there is no fear for exploxin! But the guy is extremly coolbloded! Conggrats on the righ move!

  • You never ever put ur hands in front of the tube. EVER. Mortar school they teach you that. I fired too many 120 mm rounds in my day. He held that round way too high and that's why it didn't sit properly when released.

  • sir i am shitting myself sir!

  • i am a mortar platoon sergeant. scariest shit i've seen on a mortar. also......funniest (since no one got hurt hopefully)

  • This is not funny people. This could have ended with this video never being uploaded in the first place if that round would of gone off. Very scary.

  • the increments on the side of the round catch fire from the heat of the system?

  • that was more dramatic than it looked.

There was no danger there except the loader burning his hands. The only thing burning was the packaging ring which soldiers often leave on while firing. If you ever see a flame flare up immediately after firing it is this packaging ring that was not removed when the round was taken out of storage.

That was what you saw burning. It would have burned for 30 seconds and then thats it, not enough to set of the round.

  • More fail then the Iraq war LOL.

  • 21 years of that stuff and that was a new one for me. No gloves and tighten those sleeves.

  • When in germany in 1978 had one go out the tube 50 meters and stick in the ground that was scary enough, since it take so many revolutions before arming.but seeing that id probably shit my self.lol

  • A brown trouser moment if ever I saw one!!

  • HOLY SHIT

  • if that's what i'm thinking it is (a 120mm mortar), then it's kill radius is about 60m and had it blown while it was on fire at the loader's hand before he threw it in the ground, i think no one would have survived in that squad.

    Lucky gents. Real lucky.

  • @SilentShadowOfDeath Very true... I agree.

  • @SilentShadowOfDeath Mortars have a minimum range (eg 100-200m), the round has to spin a certain amount of revolutions before it arms.

  • @Roger1379, 100 - 200m? maybe the 120mm, but the smaller ones reach up to 5600meters. don´t fuck with mortars, DUDE!

  • @Roger1379 There is no rifling in a mortar tube. Mortar bombs don't spin.

  • @brianscottpettigrew actually the rounds have fins on the bottom where the propellant is and the fins are slightly angled that cause the round to spin while in flight which creates better accuracy.

  • @chitwood73 Do you mean the stabilizer fins? So what specifically arms these mortar fuzes? Creep forward, setback, centrifugal force? Or is it a combination of several factors that need to be satisfied before a mortar fuze can be armed. More importantly, once armed what causes the fuze to function? Explain the difference between point detonating and the delay function, and what is the difference between an igniferous fuze and a disruptive fuze?

  • @brianscottpettigrew Google will answer all of your questions my friend. And I never heard of a igniferous fuse or even a disruptive fuse. Did you mean Proximity?

  • @brianscottpettigrew Not sure whether this type does. Several types of mortars such as the old M2 4.2'' do have rifling, though.

  • if that was me the whole tank would turn dark brownish yellow

  • Best cure for constipation that I've ever seen!

  • @JIM30747 Yeah, he probably busted an "O" ring on that one..lol

  • FIRE IN THE HOLE LITERALLY.

  • @KissshotOrisina They were young and inexperienced. I wasn't there. But I bet they were scared..lol

  • "hang it!", "fire!", oh wait?!?, Shit get down!!

  • @NikeBOY9769 That would definitely raise up the little hairs on the back of your neck..lol

  • I think I would just about shit my pants if that happened to me

  • @Ugleskjegg lol

  • hi is alive???? and in the army after that??????

  • Did it explode when he threw it off?

  • @Stormchaserda18th No it didn't explode, the charges just burnt off and they took it to the dud pit for EOD to dispose of it. They didn't want to take any chances of it malfunctioning with new charges added to it.

  • Just sad. Put the tube on your shoulders and circle the base 5 times. His ass would be cleaning dust off of rounds in the bunker for the rest of deployment.

  • waitforitHOLYSHIT!

  • wohohoooooooooo

  • The mortar has an extra propellant charge (those "donuts" above the fins and the heat of the barrel from constant firing ignited it because the dummy held it there for too long. And no the shell would not have gone off when dropped as it is only primed after it has been fired, thankfully for the people standing around

  • Why the fuck is that guy hangin rounds?!

  • HOLYSHIT HOLYSHIT HOLYSHIT HOLYSHIT DAMNNNN! oO

  • Scary video , Im no morter man so could anyone explain what exactly happens at the end, does the heat cause the propelant to ignite. It looks like he caches the top of the round with his clothing and pulls it out again before it can land in the base. Im assuming if the front of the warhead had hit the ground first when he threw it, it would have gone off ?

  • @prospect252 no i dont think that would be enuf impact to set the mortar round off otherwise they'll all be going off with the smallest bump to the front

  • What a dumb ass assistant gunner, hold the round higher stupid. And if your gunner isn't doing a round fired count, you need to back him up.. Lucky only the donut charges cooked off, and not the round.

  • That guy must feel like an asshole for almost killing you all LOL

  • They're not too bad, just a lot of maintenance.

  • omfg.....im glad i never had to fuck with 120's.
