You are the author whose books I've read and reread time and again. Your heroines (and heroes) are so cinematographic and so real in my mind and my heart, that I simply cannot understand why they haven't been turned into very successful films a long time ago. Madam, you are an international treasure.
The Amelia Peabody mysteries are such fun to read. I'm nearing the end of the series and think I shall start all over again. Don't stop writing, Dr. Mertz!
I have read every Elizabeth Peters novel! Amelia and all the Emersons are my absolute favorite. It has been a few months since this book published. I cannot wait for the next installment.
I love Amelia Peabody and am looking forward to reading about her latest adventure. Thank you, Dr. Mertz, for creating these very entertaining books. I wish the Emersons were real!
Have read them all, and everything else by this wonderful author, starting with the non-fiction Temples, Tombs & Hieroglyphs. Started because I too was interested in Egypt. It's delightful to see & hear her in person. And she's right, we readers LOVE the humor in her stories.
Oh the danger of falling in love with the works of a truly imaginative and enjoyable writer! I read River in the Sky yesterday and today and now I am eager for the next one. Please say it's in the works and we won't have to wait so long.
Whew! I'm so delighted to know that this story takes place in 1910...I have been worried ever since I learned that "a river in the sky" is the way the ancient Egyptians got to their afterlife. I can't wait to read this book!
The first time the King Tut exhibit came to Chicago I was 13 and have been in love with ancient Egypt ever since. My mother finally refused to take me to the Oriental Institute any more but I wasn't deterred. Thank you for your Amelia Peabody series. The time period is one of my favorites as well as the location of course. Your books are really the only books I buy anymore. I borrow everyone else's from the library. Thanks again!
So nice to see "Elizabeth Peters" in person. Thanks for so many hours of enjoyment, reading your books...and through your character Karen Nevitt in Shattered Silk, even a role model.
I've read all of the books in the Amelia Peabody and Vicky Bliss series. I'm really looking forward to this new novel - Amelia is such a wonderful character!
I'm on the 10th book in the Peabody series and I'm super excited to hear that the series will be ongoing! I'm in love with the Emersons(espically the older couple) :)
You gave us Egypt and I've loved it ever since. Thanks again. Now pleeease come back to Borders and talk to us again. We miss you! And bring Barbara R with you - you are an amazing pair.
I have read & loved every book in the Amelia Peabody series (via Audible Books). The books have also inspired me to read as much as I can about Egypt. Thank you so much for this new book - I look forward to Amelia's new adventures andthe new opportunities for me to learn. Love you and your work!! (Also LOVE Barbara Rosenblat - she really brings the books to life!)
I am so happy Thank you for giving us another adventure of Peabody and family!!!! I can´t wait to read another adventure from the extraordinary Amelia Peabody Do never stop writing Peabody´s delightful mysteries!!!!
Thank you for giving us a bit of personal history behind the writing of the new Amelia Peabody book. These videos are a fabulous idea. My big program is I will read the book in short order and then be anxiously awaiting the next one!
I agree with everyone. I am so excited to be getting another Amelia Peabody book. I have pre-ordered mine also and can't wait. I have read them all over and over. And also all your other books as well. I loved the video it was like listening to an old friend. I can't help thinking your personality must come through somewhat in your books. And I know them all so well. Thank you so much for adding another adventure for all of us who love the Emersons.
I'm so excited that we will be getting another book in this fantastic series. I have listened to all of them on audio, except for the one that Barbara Rosenblat DIDN'T narrate. Got 20 minutes into that one and couldn't take it anymore. My apologies to whom ever that other narrator was, but Ms. Rosenblat IS Ameila Peabody and no one else will do. These are some of my favorite books and I can't wait to listen to this newest one!
40 years of art and archeology and a mid-westerner from a long line of strong willed women--Peabody/Emerson clan is rather like going home, just with more bodies. Carry on, thank you.
I have every "Elizabeth Peters" book in paperback. Cannot wait for the next Amelia book! I love the way she 'speaks' about her little vanities - makes me think she's someone I'd like to meet.
So glad to see Amelia back! I miss her and the rest of her brood- will miss Egypt though, this is why I started reading them in the first place. But Amelia would be great anywhere.
Hurray! I travel a great deal with my work and have every audio Amelia adventure available. Those long hours on a plane or in a van are immeasurably improved by joining the Emersons in yet another fine mess they have gotten into. Barbara Rosenblat is indeed the quintessential narrator for the series. Thank you!
How wonderful, another Amelia book. Love reading and listening to Barbara Rosenblat bringing the Peabody family to life. Thank you so much for all the hours of joy you bring with your writing in all your series.
I am SO excited that new Amelia book is on its way. I am her (and your) biggest fan. I discovered this series on audio book, read by the AMAZING Barbara Rosenblat, who brings such incredible life to the entire Emmerson clan. I lovce Emilia's Egypt but am now looking forward to visiting a new place with the family and experiencing their excitement:-)
Thank you Barbara/Elizabeth for bringing so many of us so very many hours of pleasure!
Finally, Finally, Finally. I have been re-reading (I don't know how many times now ) from the beginning because I missed Peabody. I should be caught up (again) just in time for the new book. Thank you.
How wonderful that you have written another Amelia Peabody book. This winter I have been bored and stuck inside with a sore foot and I started rereading the Amelia books in order. I have just gotten to the year 1903 (Seeing a Large Cat) and when I get finished with The Guardian of the Horizon (1907/08) I will wait for A River in the Sky.
A new Elizabeth Peabody is such a treat! I so look forward to it. Also, an adventure in Palestine sounds like a wonderful idea. And finally, I and many others really appreciate the opportunity to have Barbara Mertz talk to us on Youtube. Thank you!!
Barbara Rosenblat is the reason I fell in love with Audio books. Her talent is so incredible and she does the Emmersons better than any other series she narrates.
Barbara, you look wonderful! How lovely to see and hear you. I miss doing book events, especially with wonderful people like you! All the best to you from Colleen Holt, former event coordinator at Borders in Baileys Crossroads, VA.
I am so excited! I've missed the Emersons! Thank you for writing such witty, intelligent and informative books. Always delightful! I've read them over and over. Can't wait for April to arrive! Thank you for the latest adventure!
Dr. Mertz, How nice to see you and hear a little preview! I've already pre-ordered my copy. I'm sure Amelia will be as fabulous as ever! Thank you, Ms. Peters!
Like Omnireader, I too was afraid! Can`t wait for this to come out - so many hours of happy reading and now you are giving us some more.... Thank you so much for what you have already written and thank you in advance for this new adventure, Barbara xoxo

Hooray for Elizabeth...I got hooked on her books when I found
a paperback at the Cairo airport...didn't do a thing for three days...stayed holed up in my room reading and ordered my
meals room service. It's way past due for another Amelia book
and I can hardly wait. KEEP WRITING ELIZABETH.
