W does quite a bit of damage really early. And provides a quick stun. Like whenever you check the bushes before the minions spawn you can knock down a nice chuck of health then auto followed by your laning partners skill and auto's. I get a lot of first-bloods that way.

best way to build renek is tanky dps: sunfire, ionian boots, ghostblade, GA, black cleaver, and frozen mallet. Dish out decent dmg whilst being able to surive being focused, and frozen mallet and yomuu's allow you to chase long enough to kill.

Depends on the flow of the game. If they have a jungler and seem ganky (typical), I get a wriggles as my first item. If I'm out-right pubstomping, I get a madred's.

Then I usually follow up with avarice blade > frozen mallet > youmoos > situational attack item (BC, Wits, Bloodthirster, etc) if I'm offensive.

Some great tanky items on him are Sunfire cape, Randuin's omen, and spirit visage (and GA, obviously.)
