Number 2: Biggs is dead, therefore he cannot be a General. However, Wedge is still alive and able to take that role. Number 3: By this time, the clones have turned on the Jedi so the keepers of the peace in the Republic, as you call it, are not commanding them to do anything. But it was a good attempt.
Han and Leia Solo have a young son named Mel. Mel is forced into attending the newly re-founded Jedi Academy even though he dreams of becoming a scientist. He becomes skilled as a Jedi but also invents a time machine, which is strictly forbidden by the Jedi. Luke challenges Mel and knocks him into a pit of acid on accident. Mel becomes Darth Maul and goes back in time to kill Anakin Skywalker; Luke goes back as Qui-Gon Jinn to stop him.
if they were to ever make an episode 7,8 and 9...which they wont, they would be based off of the existing canon. the battles against the imperial remnant, yuuzhan vong wars, legacy...even prequels like KOTOR.
