spain wouldnt be world champion in football or european champions in basketball without the catalans lol (racing motogp)l Catalan people are cool, good mannered n sophisticated unlike spanish people who are obnoxious, bad mannered, cheesy, backwards, mean, ridiculous, noisy n jealous.Catalonia n the basque country are the engines of spain..yet the cheesy n hateful spanish people resent n envy them
My father is Catalan. These nationalist Catalans are full of themselves. Although I don't feel very Spanish at all when I'm in Barcelona, I really don't see how separating from Spain will benefit anyone. If Catalan culture was being suppressed like under Franco then there would be a valid reason. Now its the opposite Catalan culture and nationalism are flourishing, There are more immediate problems like unemployment and the debt crisis.
@RapperWar That's great but they are not the majority. A lot of people don't care about all the politics. They are trying to get by and live good life.
I'm English and live in SPAIN. In my opinion the Catalans are obnoxious, self important, arrogant, conceited, overbearing, pompous, presumptuous, pushy, strutting, swaggering, swollen-headed and repugnant.
@footballmafia62 Tell me englishman, how you ever met any catalan or visited catalonia? are you living in a catalan city in spain or are you just giving your opinion from a non catalan spanish town?
@alfonsderubi May i remember how english students behave in their holidays at the catalan coasts when finishing their degrees? there are some vids on youtube in which you might be interested to see.
Not much different from Québec in Canada, though Catalonia is already ahead of them within the Spanish law. I love when currently affluent regions cry for independence, but it doesn't always last. Prince Edward Island didn't join Canada at the time of Confederation, even though the first meetings were held there... the colonial government deemed it a negative to the economy. Six years later, the shipbuilding was devastated, the railroad was unsupportable, and trade shifted to Ontario.
Step by step, without blood we walk straight to the independence. Spain is a State, justan attempt to be a nation but without success becasue spaniards and spanish government won't never understand that spàin is a puzzle of different NATIONS. Without respecting this issue we will never feel sapnish.- We want our own footbal national team, that our language (catalan) would be oficial also in Europe. Never mind if I won't see it, I'm just a worker for this issue, next generations will succeed!!!!
As is Italy, France, UK, Germany, Russia... Canada and the US are multicultural, as well, but both draw their multi-cultural backgrounds from immigration and the majority of "cultural communities" are small pockets within urban areas.
How far back in history does one have to go to find a situation that supports one's viewpoint?
In Canada it is the native groups and French that agitate for greater autonomy, based on patterns hundreds of years past. Symbols don't protect or pay bills
Spanish constitution doesn't allow independence of any of its provinces. If Catalans are looking to create a new country they need to seek other lands, Spanish land is already taken.
The video says that Catalonia has not a Millitar power as a problem to independence, but it isn't because many countries as Andorra hasn't, and Catalonia hasn't a judiciary either, but with independence it would can create it.
@SeriesCatalanesTV , Andorra throughout history has always been a separate state unofficially or officially versus Catalunya has always been part of Spain. Spain is not planning in losing any land. If these people want to create a country go look somewhere else.
@GregLA818 Yoy're wrong, because Catalonia has been an independent country since it independitzated from France until it lost against Spain, "La Guerra de Succeció", please before you speak about catalonia history, study it.
Why should we to look for somewhere else? Did USA look for somewhere else when it killed and made genocided against native and then it decided to be independent?
And "these people" is the Catalan people, and it's now a non-sovereign COUNTRY. Less demagoguery, thanks.
@SeriesCatalanesTV ,Catalunya is one of the seventeen autonomous communities of the Kingdom of Spain. Catalonia comprises four provinces: Barcelona, Girona, Lleida and Tarragona. Its capital city is Barcelona. Catalonia covers an area of 32,114 km² and has an official population of 7,535,251. The name Catalunya (Catalonia) began to be used in the 11th century[3] in reference to the group of counties that comprised the Marca Hispanica.
@SeriesCatalanesTV , After the Carthaginian defeat by Rome, it became, along with the rest of Hispania, part of the Roman Empire, Tarraco being one of the main Roman posts in the Iberian Peninsula. In 987 the count of Barcelona did not recognise the French king Hugh Capet and his new dynasty, which put Catalonia effectively beyond Frankish rule. In 1137, Ramon Berenguer IV, Count of Barcelona married Queen Petronilla of Aragon. With that marrigage was created the Crown of Aragon.
@GregLA818 What it isn't said here is that the region of Lusitania was a paert of what romans called Hispania as a large territory, not as a dependent state. Lusitania is nowadays more or less the area of Portugal, and that isn't Spain. The Gaul included as a large amount of provinces the province of Belgium, and as it is shown, it's not a part of France. The Roman Empire doesn't help to explain that unitary theories.
@GregLA818 Who cares? I'm completely impartial to the rivalry and I don't understand why something that happened 1000 years ago bears any significance today. Apparently, Catalunya wants to be its own state because it's more economically viable at the moment. Just people being dicks as usual - on both sides.
@viniciusb , "Catalunya wants to be its own state"??? You mean a minority group wants Catalunya to separate from a soverign country (Spain in this case)? If you heard this report correctly, not the majority of Catalans want Catalunya as a separate state. Pay attention next time you comment. Catalunya is in Spain!!! Catalans are Spaniards by birth!!! Their passports indicate they are Spaniards, their birth certificates indicates they were born in Spain. Now what part don't you get retard?
@GregLA818 Moron, a third of Catalonia want full independence from Spain, that may not be the majority but it's certainly not a minority group. "Catalans are Spaniards by birth!" That's the whole fucking point of wanting independence douchebag!
@viniciusb , by exercising a coarse and vulgar vocabulary, you think you may persuade others with your opinion. A minority group is a sociological category within a demographic. Meaning not being part of the majority most ''certainly" makes them a minority. I hope the few neurons you may have allow you understand the Spanish constitution doesn't allow independence of any of it's territory. However, it does allow unhappy citizens to leave the nation and adquire a new nationality if desired.
@SeriesCatalanesTV , As you noticed I know the history of Catalunya in Spain, but regardless of that. Legally Catalunya is located in Spanish land. If some of you want to have your own country look somewhere else. Spanish constitution will never allow to separate any of its territory to allow traitors like you create an enemy country within Spain.
@GregLA818 It would'nt be an enemy country, that first. Then if you know about the catalan history I don't understand why you say thing like "look somewhere else". Spanish constitution, if you don't know it yet, was made after Franco and his dictatorship and that was an illeagal state againt law. And by the way, I think that the international right of the countries to self-determinate is more important that an imperfect constitution that discriminates countries and languages of the state.
@GregLA818 And some studies say that if catalan people would can to exercice their rights and vote the independence, the YES would win. And my question is that with what argument and ethics you call somebody traitor just to want to decide his country future. If many countries have became independent such us Kosovo, South Sudan or India, why Catalonia, Euskal Herria or Scotland couldn't take that step? Or at least vote to decide as a people? Stop insulting,
@SeriesCatalanesTV ,Sadly for you, I have bad news to relate, under the Spanish constitution quislings like you have no rights to determine a separation from Spain. If you feel the constitution doesn't protect you or give you rights you demand. It's pretty simple, just involve the whole entire country and petition the constitution to be amended to give you the rights you need to create a separate country. However in order to vote you would have to be a real Spaniard and you claim not to be one.
@GregLA818 In catalonia are many demands to Spain, such as a "Concert Econòmic", which is an economic model, some comunities in spain have it, some of them are Navarra and the Basque country, that would let to Catalonia administrate its money, by the way Catalonia gives to Spain 22.000.000.000 € every year, wich don't return. However, you tell me than I can't vote because I claim i'm not, but legally i'm still spanish, and if we have to appeal to our rights as spanish, we'll do it.
@GregLA818 Also there's a supranational and international law called "self-determination right" wich is above the spanish constitution and it's in some of the most important intarnational documents such as the United Nation Charter or the International Covenants of Human Rights <- the ICCPR(international covenant on CIvil and Political Rights & the ICESCR (International covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights)
I think those laws are more important than a constitution voted 33 years ago.
@SeriesCatalanesTV , international law has no jurisdiction in being applied in Spanish territory nor does International institutions have any saying in internal issues of a sovereign nation. The only way an Spanish territory can gain independence is by amending the Spanish constitution and that would imply that most of the Spanish population would agree in doing so.
@GregLA818 Yes, first of all they have, because are HUMAN rights, with no dinstiction of any kind. With your argument if the spanish constitution says that slavery is legal, the Human rights would either have nothing to say?
I don't understand your point, because it's against human rights ethics. And if I remember well, we're in the EU, and that means that Spain is under the international laws. Some countries in europe, such as Scotland, Basque country, Catalonia claim for indepenence.
@SeriesCatalanesTV , However there are unfortunate news for those wanting independence since most Spaniards want their country intact and the includes a great percentage of Catalans.
@GregLA818 Don't worry for that, because many studies made by La Generalitat de Catalunya say that if the independence would be voted, the YES will won, and if Goddess wants we'll achieve the full independence.
(An idependence referendum would be only voted in Catalonia, logically). So I don't know if the YES will win, but I think that is a more important thing CAN to vote, because Spain has never asked to the people of other countries inside the Spanish State if the wanted to be spanish.
@GregLA818 Traitor? LOOOL!! Man u know what is democracy? I'm free to decide, I'm not spanish. My language is catalan, and my homeland is Catalonia, u can't tell me that I'm spanish, because a very simple reason, I DON'T FEEL THAT. I'm spanish only in theory, but never in my heart :P Now go, and see if any government can change that ;)
@90Sokol90 , No body wants you to be Spaniard, you are a disgrace for being born in Spanish territory. You don't belong in Spain, you need to be spell out of Spain. Catalonia is in Spain and will remain in Spain. If you feel you have no rights in Spain do Europe a favor and vanish at once. Seek other countries that welcome terrorists. By the way I can call you whatever I want, and I can tell you whatever I want, since free speech is one of the rights allowed in a democratic system
@GregLA818 You can tell me watherver you want, of course, but remember one think your freespech finishes where the others begine ;) Don't call other people traitors or terrorists, this is a slader... You have to learn what is respect and a lots of thinks about democracy.
@jordi00000 , And you base your statement on what? Last time I checked, Catalunya is Spain, and it's protected by the Spanish constitution. However if some Catalans refuse to be Spaniard then they should leave the country, they are not forced to live in Spanish land. In my opinion all foreigners and Catalans reluctant to respect and follow the Spanish laws should be spelled out of Spain just as the Jews and Muslims were in the middle ages.
allnightdwight Nothing....they still play in the Liga BBVA. Many Canadian teams play in the American leagues and Swansea City from Wales is going to play in the Premier League next season.
@robertsauri I don't like catalnas so much...Why they doesnt' like to live in Spain ?... They have all right which needed.. They have autonomy.... I thnik that they don't need country...
I wrote in english becase my spansih isn't so good...I stared learn spansih just few month ago... xD
@allnightdwight So what? What you know about him? That the CNN present to you? Gaddafi is good man...Everytitng that you heard in televiosion is bull shits .USA and EU just want to get oil from Libya ...THIS year going to expire concession...and THIS you war in Libya...
While I love Barcelona and fully support preservation of Catalan culture and language, I would be very sad to see it cede from Spain. Catalunya has been part of Spain for over 500 years and has contributed to Spanish culture significantly.
Also, football in Catalunya? As a Barca fan I feel our fierce rivalry with Madrid is integral to our identity.
@Berrylaff Bravo mate !! A sensible comment and imagine the chaos it would bring not only to the Catalans but it could destabilize all of Europe in these fragile times. They claim to be so smart, but not to thisSpanish/Catalan New Yorker.VISCA CATALUNYA !!!
Catalonia should not be free. They depend on Spain for resources and their economy and aside from that they will need a military and plus F.C. Barcelona would no longer be in "La Liga".
Free Catalonia ^^ Catalunya no és Espanya קטלוניה אינו ספרד Catalonia is not Spain Katalunia ez da Espainia Catalogna non è la Spagna 加泰羅尼亞是西班牙不 Cataluña non é España Catalogne n'est pas l'Espagne Καταλονία δεν είναι Ισπανία Ydy Catalonia Nid Sbaen An bhfuil Catalonia Gan spáinn Разве это не Испания Каталония Apakah Catalonia Tidak spanyol Nu este Catalonia Spania Catalunya ei Espanjassa Catalonië is niet Spanje كاتالونيا ليست اسبانيا Katalonien ist nicht Spanien Catalunha não é Espanha
@abdbaye I don't mean to be a prude but the Irish 'An bhfuil Catalonia gan Spáinn' is actually a question meaning 'Is Catalonia without Spain?'. It should be 'Ní an Spáinn í an Chatalóin' (Catalonia isn't Spain) or 'Catalóin gan Spáinn' (A Catalonia without Spain). Gaelic is a unique and very different language from English which isn't easy to translate. Good luck with independence! ^^
Lip dub for the independence of Catalonia and the rest of the Catalan Countries, recorded October the 24th 2010 in the city of Vic. Achieving a total amount of 5.771 participants, the World Records Academy awarded the World Record for being the lip dub with highest participation ever. The initiative was born by a group of Catalans, whose aim is to let the whole world know that Catalonia is a nation, and without its independence it cannot be assured its survival and future.
Spain should have reversed Franco Unitarian stat-ism and returned back to being a federal state and have a Iberian federation of sorts , Catalonia you still share familiar ties with Spain, Don't make the same mistake as the former Yugoslavians...
@Obasiliasfilosofos Of course we won't.. Catalans we have clear the only path for becoming a State within the EU is democracy, never violence. That's why citizenry organises referendums about independence, we believe in the power of democracy. And the Kingdom of Spain knows also they cannot use the army.
Last women who spoke in spanish (Miss Nebrera) is so ,wrong. If she says catalonia as state wouldn´t be economicaly viable cause we should pay for the justicie and military, this is the most stupid thing.
20.000 milion euros away from catalans every year. 10% of what we produce. With that money we could pay as much we want every year for govermental and country infrastuctures, plus we still would have enought money to pay some type of spanish boicot to the catalan products.

Catalonia independence is an unstoppable right. Spain is going to start to think what are they going to do without us, we contribute 25% of GDP while we are less than 15% of population. They call this ' solidarity' that other southern regions use to get eternally the unemployment benefit and all kind of subsidies, so they can spend 'their' money in 'fiesta & toros' . This is what they call socialism. Some work and others get subsidized for life. This is Spain.

Europe cannot become a superestate in the sense of unifying language and culture. It's impossible to ignore the fact that France, Germany or Italy have their own languages and cultures.Catalonia has its own language and culture too,and many catalans want to belong to a unified Europe with its own identity, not with Spain's. The problem is that Spain forbids catalans to be asked for their independence in a referendum. In other words, Spain forbids catalans to express themselves democratically.
Last February 19th, at the Sports Centre in Corçà (Baix Empordà, Catalonia), a conference was called by the commission organizing the polls for independence that will be held in this town on February 28th.
I am convinced that I am not wrong if I affirm that everybody gathered in this act -if not all of you, at least a great part- will go to vote for the independence of this country. In other words, I am convinced that on February 28th, Corçà will vote, mainly common sense. Because if something is represented by these ballots is exactly this, a popular expression of common sense.
It is true that these polls represent a democratic exercise too and are a thermometer that will measure the capacity of organization of the towns and cities despite the official silence that the politicians of this country have imposed to suffocate popular initiatives like these.
But, above all this, even above the democratic exercise to convoke the people to referendum, there is a factor that make these polls more than an election anecdote, because they are, and so they must be, the primaries of our National Independence.
Because, nowadays, you will convene with me that Catalans have invested enough time demonstrating that are a democratic nation. As if Catalans, who have been one of the most old and glorious Nations in Europe, would not believe ourselves that being Catalan means to bring the democratic gene in the blood.
So, I want to go one step beyond and encourage you to live these referendums as a page that you, as part of the Catalan Nation, are writing in History recovering our State. I invite you to take the relay to the spirit born in Arenys de Munt last September, taking the flame that that group of patriots -Mr Ximenis, today present too, was among them, lit up to spread around the Nation.
If Catalonia live today in a collective campaign of polls, is due -and I want to remind it explicitly, to the courage and conviction of a small group of people who demonstrated us how a whole country can be shaken up even when they had the wind against and nobody betting for them. Next February 28th, all you will have the opportunity and the responsibility to make that the spirit of Arenys de Munt continues advancing and settling the bases of our next National emancipation.
But nobody fool themselves. Nobody think that independence will come as a present from heaven. And even a friendly agreement among Spanish, French and Catalans. No! The battle for Independence will be, above all, the battle for the dialectics and oratory. Because, ladies and gentlemen, this war -because we are in a political and diplomatic war, but war, nevertheless-,
will demand that we choose an army of political leaders able to confront, to the last consequences, the discourse and the French and Spanish State machine. This, dear friends, is impossible to find in this public trough and fodder spreading institution that one day was our beloved Parliament of Catalonia. This, there, now, is not to be found.
The time for those who do not speak clearly, with euphemisms, auto-censoring themselves, is over. The time of watering down our language and discourse is over. To recover this Nation's dignity is time to recover the adequate tone to express our national genius, the steadiness of our actions and the strength of our reasons. In fact, as I said in the beginning, let's impose common sense.
Our political, cultural, linguistic, social and economic future is in play. Let's be worthy of Catalonia and rise willing to conquer victory that History reserves only to those in those Nations that are called to win. If on September 13th, Arenys de Munt initiated the way to this victory, next February 28th you will become ambassadors of democracy,
and will let the world know, and especially the rest of Europe, that very soon, within the heart of the European Union, a new flag will fly, symbol of freedom, justice and democracy; the four stripes of our beautiful and immortal Catalonia.
Also one of the most important spanish political parties use the anticatalanism to win votes. We have to give money to other regions and we have worst services than that regions. If we still in spain our culture will disapear because the spanish don't have any interest in learn it. Spain is already 35 years saying that the federal and plurinational spain will arrive. But we only go steps back. I'm annoyed to wait I want the independece.
The problem is that say spain actually is the same to say Castilia they almost don't care about the other nations inside spain. A lot of spanish say all the time bad things and lies about Catalonia.
@aSuperbadassninja . sorry but you are not right. "the point" of the EU is create a "Union", or a "Confederation", maybe a "federation". Foreign office, defense, a central bank, coin. the rest of powers will belong to states. this is happening nowadays!!. yesterday estonia, croatia, kosovo...reached the independence, today they ask to be part of UE...
@breizhcatalonia1993 Only if you - either as part of Spain or as formally independent Catalans - want to be Eu members. Because - as the guy to whom I responded pointed out - the EU is a globalist superstate. Or at least a wannabe superstate.
@kexember i , myself, like the EU and i don't think that it wants what you seem to think that it wants :P ( im serious, but very long phrase), but i don't like how some decisions were adopted.
@breizhcatalonia1993 Only if you - either as part of Spain or as formally independent Catalans - want to be Eu members. Because - as the guy to whom I responded pointed out - the EU is a globalist superstate. Or at least a wannabe superstate. Dude.
Romania is another country within EU which refuses to recognize illegal state "Kosova". And today I am reading a news that Hungarian minority in Romania under EU protection demands stronger "regionalisation" of the country. Romanians say that is the first step to open secessionism.
In both cases Spain and Romania we are witnessing instrumentalization of ethnic minorities as a tool of subjugating countries which do not follow the same policies as western imperialists in Washington and Brussels!
The so called "Catalan question" or "Basque question" is a mean of PRESSURE from the western imperialists (USA+UK+Germany+France) onto Spain in order to force Spain to recognize illegal state of "Kosova"!
Spain refuses to recognize "Kosova" (because it has similar problems like Serbia) therefore western imperialists are pushing and encouraging Catalans, Basques and other minorities to secession in order to threaten Spain and subjugate it to follow the policy of the western imperialists.
Western imperialists financed, armed and gave political support to the Albanian terrorist organizations in the Serbian province of Kosovo (so called "UCK"). And when the Serbian police finally responded the western imperialists started NATO military aggression on Serbia under the guise of the "humanitarian intervention". The aggression was the first ever NATO operation in the history of the block and it started on 50th anniversary of the block.
The operation was called "Merciful Angel" (cynical isn't it?) during which NATO destroyed Serbian civilian infrastructure and killed more than ~2500 civilians (including 88 children), among them:
yeah everybody wants their own country why without a military you can't do anything just like KOSOVO which should be called SERBIA you can't get what you want all the time!
@BulgarianInCanada Try to do the exercise of comparing Catalonia wih Republika Srpska inside Bosnia i Hercegovina. Don't you think they have right to decide if they want to keep in BiH or become independent, or unite with Serbia?

to a lesser degree the same thing is happening here in the USA. The responsible Republican states are flexing their state rights to prevent the Federal government from social justicing state money to the reckless Democrat states.
More countries would mean more diversity, more competition, and more culture. More countries would radically increase our border patrols and self defense due to an increase in the perimeter of our borders. An increase in independent control would allow for a steadier flow of immigration through the gateways.
rayzn11 "More countries would mean more diversity, more competition..."
No! It would mean exactly the same it meant thousands years ago when Roman Empire controlled vast territories by dividing larger entities! That is called DIVIDE AND CONQUER or in latin "DIVIDE ET IMPERA"!
Split larger entities into more smaller ones in order to easily control all of them! They are not independent but become more and more dependent on the center of the EMPIRE (Wall Street).
Not true... more independence increases movement, more independence strengthens democracies...more independence increases liberty as well as the right to follow the vision one so desires...NTM We've already been divided and conquered! Now we must unite in independence.
It's catalan people who have to decide who they want to be dependent to. We just wanna be like every normal nation and have our own state, to warrant our social services, our migration policy, our international relationships, to decide about our resources. Catalan is spoken by 8 milion people and it's not official in EU. Maltese is spoken by 400000 people and it is official. What's the difference? They have a state.
odiossea: "It's catalan people who have to decide..."
Yes it is people who have to decide but PEOPLE OF SPAIN because ALL people of the WHOLE Spain are sovereign on ALL of the Spanish territory!
We saw that principle in civil war in USA (18611865) -> people living in a province do not have EXCLUSIVE sovereignty on a piece of territory but only people of the WHOLE country.
Only people of SPAIN (i.e. ALL the people in Spain) could decide what could happen to any piece of the Spanish territory!
Yes, you talk about a war: this is not the catalan case. We don't wanna organise a war, but a democratic referendum. And there is not even one case in the history where a nation has become independent via referendum having voted the whole primitive state. Serbs didn't voted about Montenegro, Swedish about Norway, Canadians about Québec (in this case unionist won).
Catalans have right to decide our future. Don't tell me about wars, better tell me about democracy. This is Europe, XXIth century.
I was referring to the American civil war (1861-1865) when people living in one part of a country thought that they had EXCLUSIVE sovereignty over the part of the country. And majority of USA (and the rest of the world as well) thought differently. And we know the results.
As regards Serbia-Montenegro it was their MUTUALLY ACCEPTED AGREEMENT that both Montenegro and Serbia have right to secede from the union!
My point is -> entities must have constitutional right to secede! As far as I know Catalonia does not have such right, neither southern states (Confederation) in USA had or have that right! If ALL the citizens of Spain decide to give that right to Spanish provinces then Catalonia might secede. If there is no agreement between the parties then there is a war.
More smaller entities, and even worse - more entities which are encouraged to hate each other - does not mean more competition since all of the new entities are forced to follow the same line - the line of the EMPIRE! It is much easier to subjugate more smaller entities than one bigger entity!
We saw that here in Yugoslavia when western imperialists for decades (!) after WW2 encouraged chauvinists in Yugoslavia who played the role of "nationalists" (but in fact were only psychopaths spreading only hatred). During Yugoslavia all South Slavic peoples here had their own banks, own industries, own banks...
But now after we have become "independent " western imperialists, the same ones who gave shelter in their countries to "nationalists" and fascists from Yugoslavia after WW2, own our banks, own our industries, own our media (for brainwashing), own our telecommunications... even own our governments!
The United States has become too big to fail; we continue to operate at all costs. 360 million people and counting
Independence remains the ultimate goal, and yet some fear responsibility. A state can only succeed when it secedes. Democracies strengthen as countries increase in number, which causes population declines in the voting pools, thus rendering a larger percentage of power per individual vote.

Unfortunately, in this manipulated and sinister world of Illuminati scum, independence is only for the selected. Kosovo's independence is ok but Abkhazian or Catalonian is not.
Question for Catalunians: what is the point to become another EU state? Totalitarian EU experiment will cease to exists in a very short period of time anyway.
Although I don't know too much about the situation in Catalonia and it's history, I do know it has been part of Spain for many many decades and I wonder if this in big part due to it being richer, not because of it's independent identity. In which case, I would argue that this is more because of it's geographical standing in Spain (in the north, where there is more water and other resources), not because of them being harder workers, which is what a lot of them would have you believe.
...I have lived in south Spain for 13 years and although they are very relaxed in their nature, they are not lazzy. Farmers get up at dawn and work will dusk in hard and laborious conditions.
If they like Scotland want independence then let them have what they want, the trouble is tho is that being a member of the EUSSR will not make anyone independent but merely regions in the NWO!
hey Catalan, ever heard about the NWO (New World Order) which is run by bankers? there agenda is to get rid of sovereign countries in order to get you hooked to their phony money. these bankers (central banks are not governmental by the way, they are private) go to wars with other countries to crack down on them and submit them to their money (funds). Catalan, learn your real enemy and then you could fight the fight much better!!!
I honostly do not understand why people want to seperate from a nationalist perspective. But hey if the majority wants it, who's the state to tell them "no"?
Smaller states is also a little bit more democratic.

Six years later, the shipbuilding was devastated, the railroad was unsupportable, and trade shifted to Ontario.
saglek 7 months ago

Symbols don't protect or pay bills
saglek 4 months ago
Spanish constitution doesn't allow independence of any of its provinces. If Catalans are looking to create a new country they need to seek other lands, Spanish land is already taken.
GregLA818 7 months ago 2
The video says that Catalonia has not a Millitar power as a problem to independence, but it isn't because many countries as Andorra hasn't, and Catalonia hasn't a judiciary either, but with independence it would can create it.
I'll vote YES ^_^.
SeriesCatalanesTV 7 months ago
@SeriesCatalanesTV , Andorra throughout history has always been a separate state unofficially or officially versus Catalunya has always been part of Spain. Spain is not planning in losing any land. If these people want to create a country go look somewhere else.
GregLA818 7 months ago 2
@GregLA818 Yoy're wrong, because Catalonia has been an independent country since it independitzated from France until it lost against Spain, "La Guerra de Succeció", please before you speak about catalonia history, study it.
Why should we to look for somewhere else? Did USA look for somewhere else when it killed and made genocided against native and then it decided to be independent?
And "these people" is the Catalan people, and it's now a non-sovereign COUNTRY. Less demagoguery, thanks.
SeriesCatalanesTV 7 months ago
@SeriesCatalanesTV ,Catalunya is one of the seventeen autonomous communities of the Kingdom of Spain. Catalonia comprises four provinces: Barcelona, Girona, Lleida and Tarragona. Its capital city is Barcelona. Catalonia covers an area of 32,114 km² and has an official population of 7,535,251. The name Catalunya (Catalonia) began to be used in the 11th century[3] in reference to the group of counties that comprised the Marca Hispanica.
GregLA818 7 months ago 3
@SeriesCatalanesTV , After the Carthaginian defeat by Rome, it became, along with the rest of Hispania, part of the Roman Empire, Tarraco being one of the main Roman posts in the Iberian Peninsula. In 987 the count of Barcelona did not recognise the French king Hugh Capet and his new dynasty, which put Catalonia effectively beyond Frankish rule. In 1137, Ramon Berenguer IV, Count of Barcelona married Queen Petronilla of Aragon. With that marrigage was created the Crown of Aragon.
GregLA818 7 months ago 9
@GregLA818 What it isn't said here is that the region of Lusitania was a paert of what romans called Hispania as a large territory, not as a dependent state. Lusitania is nowadays more or less the area of Portugal, and that isn't Spain. The Gaul included as a large amount of provinces the province of Belgium, and as it is shown, it's not a part of France. The Roman Empire doesn't help to explain that unitary theories.
alfonsderubi 2 months ago
@GregLA818 Who cares? I'm completely impartial to the rivalry and I don't understand why something that happened 1000 years ago bears any significance today. Apparently, Catalunya wants to be its own state because it's more economically viable at the moment. Just people being dicks as usual - on both sides.
viniciusb 1 month ago
@viniciusb , "Catalunya wants to be its own state"??? You mean a minority group wants Catalunya to separate from a soverign country (Spain in this case)? If you heard this report correctly, not the majority of Catalans want Catalunya as a separate state. Pay attention next time you comment. Catalunya is in Spain!!! Catalans are Spaniards by birth!!! Their passports indicate they are Spaniards, their birth certificates indicates they were born in Spain. Now what part don't you get retard?
GregLA818 1 month ago
@GregLA818 Moron, a third of Catalonia want full independence from Spain, that may not be the majority but it's certainly not a minority group. "Catalans are Spaniards by birth!" That's the whole fucking point of wanting independence douchebag!
viniciusb 1 month ago
@viniciusb , by exercising a coarse and vulgar vocabulary, you think you may persuade others with your opinion. A minority group is a sociological category within a demographic. Meaning not being part of the majority most ''certainly" makes them a minority. I hope the few neurons you may have allow you understand the Spanish constitution doesn't allow independence of any of it's territory. However, it does allow unhappy citizens to leave the nation and adquire a new nationality if desired.
GregLA818 1 month ago
@SeriesCatalanesTV , As you noticed I know the history of Catalunya in Spain, but regardless of that. Legally Catalunya is located in Spanish land. If some of you want to have your own country look somewhere else. Spanish constitution will never allow to separate any of its territory to allow traitors like you create an enemy country within Spain.
GregLA818 7 months ago 15
@GregLA818 It would'nt be an enemy country, that first. Then if you know about the catalan history I don't understand why you say thing like "look somewhere else". Spanish constitution, if you don't know it yet, was made after Franco and his dictatorship and that was an illeagal state againt law. And by the way, I think that the international right of the countries to self-determinate is more important that an imperfect constitution that discriminates countries and languages of the state.
SeriesCatalanesTV 7 months ago
@GregLA818 And some studies say that if catalan people would can to exercice their rights and vote the independence, the YES would win. And my question is that with what argument and ethics you call somebody traitor just to want to decide his country future. If many countries have became independent such us Kosovo, South Sudan or India, why Catalonia, Euskal Herria or Scotland couldn't take that step? Or at least vote to decide as a people? Stop insulting,
thanks.
SeriesCatalanesTV 7 months ago
@SeriesCatalanesTV ,Sadly for you, I have bad news to relate, under the Spanish constitution quislings like you have no rights to determine a separation from Spain. If you feel the constitution doesn't protect you or give you rights you demand. It's pretty simple, just involve the whole entire country and petition the constitution to be amended to give you the rights you need to create a separate country. However in order to vote you would have to be a real Spaniard and you claim not to be one.
GregLA818 7 months ago
@GregLA818 In catalonia are many demands to Spain, such as a "Concert Econòmic", which is an economic model, some comunities in spain have it, some of them are Navarra and the Basque country, that would let to Catalonia administrate its money, by the way Catalonia gives to Spain 22.000.000.000 € every year, wich don't return. However, you tell me than I can't vote because I claim i'm not, but legally i'm still spanish, and if we have to appeal to our rights as spanish, we'll do it.
SeriesCatalanesTV 7 months ago
@GregLA818 Also there's a supranational and international law called "self-determination right" wich is above the spanish constitution and it's in some of the most important intarnational documents such as the United Nation Charter or the International Covenants of Human Rights <- the ICCPR(international covenant on CIvil and Political Rights & the ICESCR (International covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights)
I think those laws are more important than a constitution voted 33 years ago.
SeriesCatalanesTV 7 months ago
@SeriesCatalanesTV , international law has no jurisdiction in being applied in Spanish territory nor does International institutions have any saying in internal issues of a sovereign nation. The only way an Spanish territory can gain independence is by amending the Spanish constitution and that would imply that most of the Spanish population would agree in doing so.
GregLA818 7 months ago
@GregLA818 Yes, first of all they have, because are HUMAN rights, with no dinstiction of any kind. With your argument if the spanish constitution says that slavery is legal, the Human rights would either have nothing to say?
I don't understand your point, because it's against human rights ethics. And if I remember well, we're in the EU, and that means that Spain is under the international laws. Some countries in europe, such as Scotland, Basque country, Catalonia claim for indepenence.
SeriesCatalanesTV 7 months ago
Finally if countries like Kosovo have could achieve the independence, we'll can too.
SeriesCatalanesTV 7 months ago
@SeriesCatalanesTV Yes it is brother! It's a long way to the top but we'll finnally reach our freedom :) :) FREE CATALONIA!
jamesoneist 7 months ago
@SeriesCatalanesTV , However there are unfortunate news for those wanting independence since most Spaniards want their country intact and the includes a great percentage of Catalans.
GregLA818 7 months ago
@GregLA818 Don't worry for that, because many studies made by La Generalitat de Catalunya say that if the independence would be voted, the YES will won, and if Goddess wants we'll achieve the full independence.
(An idependence referendum would be only voted in Catalonia, logically). So I don't know if the YES will win, but I think that is a more important thing CAN to vote, because Spain has never asked to the people of other countries inside the Spanish State if the wanted to be spanish.
SeriesCatalanesTV 7 months ago
@GregLA818 Traitor? LOOOL!! Man u know what is democracy? I'm free to decide, I'm not spanish. My language is catalan, and my homeland is Catalonia, u can't tell me that I'm spanish, because a very simple reason, I DON'T FEEL THAT. I'm spanish only in theory, but never in my heart :P Now go, and see if any government can change that ;)
90Sokol90 7 months ago
@90Sokol90 , No body wants you to be Spaniard, you are a disgrace for being born in Spanish territory. You don't belong in Spain, you need to be spell out of Spain. By the way I can call you whatever I want, and I can tell you whatever I want, since free speech is one of the rights allowed in a democratic system

Reasons for voting "Yes" to independence
Last February 19th, at the Sports Centre in Corçà (Baix Empordà, Catalonia), a conference was called by the commission organizing the polls for independence that will be held in this town on February 28th.
padrino678 1 year ago
I am convinced that I am not wrong if I affirm that everybody gathered in this act -if not all of you, at least a great part- will go to vote for the independence of this country. In other words, I am convinced that on February 28th, Corçà will vote, mainly common sense. Because if something is represented by these ballots is exactly this, a popular expression of common sense.
padrino678 1 year ago
It is true that these polls represent a democratic exercise too and are a thermometer that will measure the capacity of organization of the towns and cities despite the official silence that the politicians of this country have imposed to suffocate popular initiatives like these.
padrino678 1 year ago
But, above all this, even above the democratic exercise to convoke the people to referendum, there is a factor that make these polls more than an election anecdote, because they are, and so they must be, the primaries of our National Independence.
padrino678 1 year ago
Because, nowadays, you will convene with me that Catalans have invested enough time demonstrating that are a democratic nation. As if Catalans, who have been one of the most old and glorious Nations in Europe, would not believe ourselves that being Catalan means to bring the democratic gene in the blood.
padrino678 1 year ago
So, I want to go one step beyond and encourage you to live these referendums as a page that you, as part of the Catalan Nation, are writing in History recovering our State. I invite you to take the relay to the spirit born in Arenys de Munt last September, taking the flame that that group of patriots -Mr Ximenis, today present too, was among them, lit up to spread around the Nation.
padrino678 1 year ago
If Catalonia live today in a collective campaign of polls, is due -and I want to remind it explicitly, to the courage and conviction of a small group of people who demonstrated us how a whole country can be shaken up even when they had the wind against and nobody betting for them. Next February 28th, all you will have the opportunity and the responsibility to make that the spirit of Arenys de Munt continues advancing and settling the bases of our next National emancipation.
padrino678 1 year ago
But nobody fool themselves. Nobody think that independence will come as a present from heaven. And even a friendly agreement among Spanish, French and Catalans. No! The battle for Independence will be, above all, the battle for the dialectics and oratory. Because, ladies and gentlemen, this war -because we are in a political and diplomatic war, but war, nevertheless-,
padrino678 1 year ago
will demand that we choose an army of political leaders able to confront, to the last consequences, the discourse and the French and Spanish State machine. This, dear friends, is impossible to find in this public trough and fodder spreading institution that one day was our beloved Parliament of Catalonia. This, there, now, is not to be found.
padrino678 1 year ago
The time for those who do not speak clearly, with euphemisms, auto-censoring themselves, is over. The time of watering down our language and discourse is over. To recover this Nation's dignity is time to recover the adequate tone to express our national genius, the steadiness of our actions and the strength of our reasons. In fact, as I said in the beginning, let's impose common sense.
padrino678 1 year ago
Our political, cultural, linguistic, social and economic future is in play. Let's be worthy of Catalonia and rise willing to conquer victory that History reserves only to those in those Nations that are called to win. If on September 13th, Arenys de Munt initiated the way to this victory, next February 28th you will become ambassadors of democracy,
padrino678 1 year ago
and will let the world know, and especially the rest of Europe, that very soon, within the heart of the European Union, a new flag will fly, symbol of freedom, justice and democracy; the four stripes of our beautiful and immortal Catalonia.

Igor707 2 years ago
The operation was called "Merciful Angel" (cynical isn't it?) during which NATO destroyed Serbian civilian infrastructure and killed more than ~2500 civilians (including 88 children), among them:
- Radio Television Beograd (16 dead journalists)
- Chinese embassy in Belgrade (3 dead)
- Passenger train at Grdelica (20 dead)
- Refugee column in Kosovo Metohija (73 dead)
- Bridge at Varvarin (10 dead)

Let Spain leave NATO, join Russian CSTO, let Russian army in, and Russia shall solve "Catalan question" once for all...
Having foothold in Spain Russia would then be guarantor for peace and stability in the west of Europe.
Meanwhile Russia would subsidize Spain with cheap oil and gas what is exactly what Spain essentially needs...

yeah everybody wants their own country why without a military you can't do anything just like KOSOVO which should be called SERBIA you can't get what you want all the time!

@BulgarianInCanada Try to do the exercise of comparing Catalonia wih Republika Srpska inside Bosnia i Hercegovina. Don't you think they have right to decide if they want to keep in BiH or become independent, or unite with Serbia?

@odiossea the thing is if that's how you want to think of it soon everybody will want their own country I don't think its such a big deal!

Lip dub for the independence of Catalonia and the rest of the Catalan Countries, recorded October the 24th 2010 in the city of Vic. Achieving a total amount of 5.771 participants, the World Records Academy awarded the World Record for being the lip dub with highest participation ever. The initiative was born by a group of Catalans, whose aim is to let the whole world know that Catalonia is a nation, and without its independence it cannot be assured its survival and future.

to a lesser degree the same thing is happening here in the USA.

Igor707 2 years ago
Not true... more independence increases movement, more independence strengthens democracies...more independence increases liberty as well as the right to follow the vision one so desires...NTM We've already been divided and conquered! Now we must unite in independence.
rayzn11 2 years ago
It's catalan people who have to decide who they want to be dependent to. We just wanna be like every normal nation and have our own state, to warrant our social services, our migration policy, our international relationships, to decide about our resources. Catalan is spoken by 8 milion people and it's not official in EU. Maltese is spoken by 400000 people and it is official. What's the difference? They have a state.
odiossea 2 years ago
odiossea: "It's catalan people who have to decide..."
Igor707 2 years ago
Yes, you talk about a war: this is not the catalan case. We don't wanna organise a war, but a democratic referendum. And there is not even one case in the history where a nation has become independent via referendum having voted the whole primitive state. Serbs didn't voted about Montenegro, Swedish about Norway, Canadians about Québec (in this case unionist won).
Catalans have right to decide our future. Don't tell me about wars, better tell me about democracy. This is Europe, XXIth century.
odiossea 2 years ago
odiossea "you talk about a war..."
Why don't you read my post before replying to it?
I was referring to the American civil war (1861-1865) when people living in one part of a country thought that they had EXCLUSIVE sovereignty over the part of the country. And majority of USA (and the rest of the world as well) thought differently. And we know the results.
Igor707 2 years ago
As regards Serbia-Montenegro it was their MUTUALLY ACCEPTED AGREEMENT that both Montenegro and Serbia have right to secede from the union!
My point is -> entities must have constitutional right to secede! As far as I know Catalonia does not have such right, neither southern states (Confederation) in USA had or have that right! If ALL the citizens of Spain decide to give that right to Spanish provinces then Catalonia might secede. If there is no agreement between the parties then there is a war.
Igor707 2 years ago
More smaller entities, and even worse - more entities which are encouraged to hate each other - does not mean more competition since all of the new entities are forced to follow the same line - the line of the EMPIRE! It is much easier to subjugate more smaller entities than one bigger entity!
Igor707 2 years ago
We saw that here in Yugoslavia when western imperialists for decades (!) after WW2 encouraged chauvinists in Yugoslavia who played the role of "nationalists" (but in fact were only psychopaths spreading only hatred). During Yugoslavia all South Slavic peoples here had their own banks, own industries, own banks...
Igor707 2 years ago
But now after we have become "independent " western imperialists, the same ones who gave shelter in their countries to "nationalists" and fascists from Yugoslavia after WW2, own our banks, own our industries, own our media (for brainwashing), own our telecommunications... even own our governments!
Igor707 2 years ago
The United States has become too big to fail; we continue to operate at all costs. 360 million people and counting
Independence remains the ultimate goal, and yet some fear responsibility. A state can only succeed when it secedes. Democracies strengthen as countries increase in number, which causes population declines in the voting pools, thus rendering a larger percentage of power per individual vote.

Spain dissapeared when entered in EU.
Spain is not longer an independent country and this separatism looks only for regionalism inside the EU or New World Order.
The EU must be abolished and the criminals of our bankrupcy go to jail.

In which case, I would argue that this is more because of it's geographical standing in Spain (in the north, where there is more water and other resources), not because of them being harder workers, which is what a lot of them would have you believe.
sollycardy98 2 years ago
...I have lived in south Spain for 13 years and although they are very relaxed in their nature, they are not lazzy. Farmers get up at dawn and work will dusk in hard and laborious conditions.

If they like Scotland want independence then let them have what they want, the trouble is tho is that being a member of the EUSSR will not make anyone independent but merely regions in the NWO!
therhythmicmenace 2 years ago
hey Catalan, ever heard about the NWO (New World Order) which is run by bankers? there agenda is to get rid of sovereign countries in order to get you hooked to their phony money. these bankers (central banks are not governmental by the way, they are private) go to wars with other countries to crack down on them and submit them to their money (funds). Catalan, learn your real enemy and then you could fight the fight much better!!!

I honostly do not understand why people want to seperate from a nationalist perspective. But hey if the majority wants it, who's the state to tell them "no"?
Smaller states is also a little bit more democratic.
