  • Probably the most ever legendary russian swimmer, thank's to you, Vladimir . I was one of your admirator during your swimming period, and as I was also swimmer in 800 and 1500m , I understand the no limits training sessions you have endure for this. The TSAR was and will stay your name. Your belgian friend, Thierry de Avalos

  • 1) Spitz: 1968 Olympics, 2 golds, 1 silver, 1 bronze, 1972 Olympics 7 golds

    2) 4 of 7 golds in Munich came from individual swimming. Of 4 Salnikov's golds one also came from a relay. So?

    3) short and long distances need different preparation, it is not only pure power but stamina, efficiency etc. That's why milers usually last longer. Take Hackett. And 100 meters swimmers usually are very young.

    4) no comment

    5)wikipedia: Spitz 33 world records, Salnikov 12.

    You seem a little biased.

  • @yutubenik yes, but on the one side, Spitz was jew so a lot of cheating about his times would have been done, sort of taking 1/10 of a second that nobody would argue. Second, to endure training and competing for the 1500 meters for a decade is monstruous and super human. Therefore Vladimir, as all Russians, have a superior genetic make up, intellectually also.

  • @youcantbeatfacts who the fuck do you think you are? you're like some sort of cross between a nazi and a russian extremist. it's people like you who cause war and hatred in this world

  • @adamlewis934 just facts. Jews control the Media (Jew York Times, CNN, ABC etc) so straightforward to instil a cheat. Second, Vladimir won all that, what do you want? it is just facts.

  • To win some 100 ms freestyle race is ok, but the power in your body and your mind that you need to endure 12 years of being unbeaten in a 1500 ms trial is just beyond human performance. At the age of 30 this man outperformed McDonald's fed 20 year old americans. The soviets endured training disciplines unthinkable for a Western, not to mention an American. Edini moguchi Sovietski Soyuz!! CCCP navsegda!

  • it's ridiculous, McDonald's fed Mark Spitz didn't leave any chances to soviet swimmers. you cannot generalize like that.

  • 1) Mark Spitz limited himself to 1 olimpics

    2) Half of the medals he won were in Relays

    3) He swam short distances, did not have the extraordinary power to endure 12 years on long distances like Vldimir did.

    4) Back in the 70's you ate better than you do today. If we talk about Americans bodies on the street, better not talk.

5)Vladimir endured it 12 years, 40 world records in a tremendously tough race like the 1500 meters.

  • Salnokov-eto legenda!! eto moi kumir!

  • Vladimir Salnikov 20 times world record holders in 1500m and 800m

  • Who is that?

  • Salnikov is an absolute legend. The Psychological barrier of being the first man to break 4 minutes in the 400m f/s and 15 minutes in the 1,500m f/s, is incredible. In Seoul when he returned to the Olympic village he got a standing innovation from all athletes from all nation present, such was the magnitude of his feat. Thank you so much for posting this video. I's love to know what he is saying. For more info check out the International Swimming Hall of Fame website.

  • @ofeyofey he wasnt the first under 4 minutes in the 400. that was Rick DeMont in 1973, Salnikov was the first under 3.50 in 1979

  • On the International swimming Hall of Fame website they say he was the first person under 4 mins for 400 f/s/ as well as the 15 mins for the 1,500.

  • Interestingly it sayd the same things for Rick DeMont. I have emailed the ISHOF to ask them.
