You could go into a whole debate about what's "vanilla" and what's not, but no one's going to be able to come to one unanimous agreement on the term.

The rules of the contest stated that you could use ExGFX as long as it contains original SMW graphics only. It was also allowed to rotate/flip graphics. So the sideways munchers would have been acceptable.
