@qrstee Tui was lost by her owner a couple of years ago in Kansas. He had a New Zealand accent and since she mimicked his voice she would definitely stand out. I thought that maybe she might have been brought to you. You guys do good work. Someone has to take care of the non-native birds, too.
Using 'trophy' birds as a tourist attraction. Constantly building larger cages to alleviate the fights amongst birds, then re-filling with more birds. Birds in the home don't have smelly tourists gawking poking and prodding at them, or the extreme noise level. Many birds searching for their owners in the crowd for those that do visit or just searching for something familiar. No reason for half of the birds to be there other than for show.
I'm so happy to know, that loving people like you exist I really appreciate the hard work you are doing, my new heroes!, I'm from T.O and recently lost my eleven birds in a house fire i could only save two, even though I still feel sad. it brings me up so much to watch your videos and inspires me to keep loving all birds, i would want to follow your footsteps and create a sanctuary for birds that only need love. I admire your work, i can only thank you for kindness to this amazing creatures
So heartbreaking to see birds with such destroyed feathers. If only people would realise, that even in the kindest, most loving home in the world, a bird may still turn on itself and pluck, pick, and mutilate. because all the love and good will and care in the world can not replace the God-given birthright of these creatures.. The freedom to fly through the skies at will. When will we finally learn and stop stealing that birthright from them. Will we ever??
Thank you so much for your mission and work. I loved this video; it moved me to tears. It's very uplifting and inspiring to see these parrots find healing with your help. I also loved the two songs in the video, very beautiful. Thank you so much....
Incredibly done video. & Thank you for helping all of those who have "broken wings". Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! You are angels. The plight of the caged bird is so sad & people just don't GET IT!!!! Don't buy, don't breed, ADOPT!
Hi Notoriginals, Our birds don't breed because we don't give them nesting materials etc.. to encourage this. We don't "rehome" the birds because THIS is their home. Here they have more bird-life than most of us could ever give them in a human home. They can regrow feathers, fly, screech, pooh!, and live in a FLOCK! where they are never alone. They have constant companionship, security, comfort, intellectual stimulation, and so much more.
Nice but....realistically it's the largest 'bird room' r u just going to over crowd the place with unwanted birds forever and pack them to the rafters? have known a few volunteers there so yes have heard differently
There are many wonderful bird homes with bird rooms just not the size of yours....it's great that you offer education to people about birds etc it's a business. And you rely on public funds. With such a disneyland why not offer boarding (long spirts considering quaranteen time ;) or something ?)rehome, helping owners keep their pets rather than dumping. By rehoming you have discouraged someone from going to a breeder....
@WorldParrotRefuge mine & many other birds in the home can fly, screech, pooh, regrow feathers and live in a flock ;) This is really nonsense. You constantly announce you are close to closing and never 'know what to do?' at the same time spending funds on purchasing birds @ auctions, healthy birds, just outbidding others. Many wild caught birds do well as pets 2. It's not the publics burden. Healthy birds, birds that do well around people should be. Many just need owners that train.
@notoriginals - you are obviously one of the very few people who understand what it takes and are willing to invest your time, money and love into caring for birds. That is wonderful and if we had more caring people like you, there would be no need for sanctuaries at all. Keep up the great work.
Godspeed to these birds and their caregivers...those that love them. Please stop breeding large parrots. Even without feathers, they are beautiful to me.
Is Tui the African Gray there?
