I also have a 3.9. I love that truck to deth but its slow as hell. 0-60 in about 10 seconds :(. Is it cheaper to just upgrade the v6 I have or try to get my hands on a nice 360?

You don't have to have the EXACT turbo for your engine, it just guarantees that everything will fit. If you have the time and money, you could hunt down a turbo for something near the same litreage, and then you can get all the other stuff and adapt it to your engine.

Just remember, if you decide to do it, it's not gonna be a drop-in mod. There's no guarantee that everything is going to fit, and it's gonna be a hell of a job.

Lol, I wouldn't know where to get it, but I can tell you that the turbo would more than likely have to be off of a v6. You might be able to use one of the ones made for the newer pontiac v6's, but you'd need the proper wastegate for your car. The thing you have to remember is that you need the proper manifold pressure, and if you have too much boost you could melt your pistons... Or worse.

same here i dnt believe they accually make a kit 4 the 3.9`s i also have a 3.9 like the guy below said ur goin 2 have hunt shit dwn but i kno that a T3/T4 turbo will work 4 the dakota after that just search 4 the rest of the parts...after all is dun n everythin it will deff b worth it i think :-D

yeah i made turbo ducting myself with aluminum tubes and a pipe bender. turbo systems can be cheap if you are up to the task of putting in some manual labor. just don't over do it or you'll be building more than a turbo system. you'll be building another motor.
