Simon could have shown more knowledge of the company by suggesting that there was something dodgy going on between Amstrad, Betacom and Viglen during the mid 90's. Any scheme of arrangement -as between Betacom and Amstrad - should set the alarm bells ringing. By mentioning such he could have shown that he is capable of skullduggery - something Sir alan and his colleagues must have appreciated in a candidate!
