I don't understand why you would build a datacentre in a desert, you would have to suck too much power for cooling. wouldn't Canada make more sense where you have clean hydro power and can cool from outdoor air?
@CraZy675 This is why they built a data center in the desert. Nevada has: No franchise tax No corporate income tax No personal income tax No capital stock tax No stock transfer fee or tax No tax on corporation shares No succession tax No inheritance, estate or gift tax No unitary tax No special intangible tax No chain store tax No admissions tax No inventory tax This far outweighs the additional cooling costs.

@CraZy675 Desert does get cold at night, that could help with thermal dissipation in the evenings.

100MW of electricity to power 10,000 homes?
That analogy seems a bit off. There's no way that the average household consumes an average of 10kW of power throughout the day.

It would not be better if the unit is built under ground? Vegas is hot climate.

USSHC is underground. Wikia does their stuff out of there.

No Because the Sleestack live under ground and they eat servers.

I'm sure they thought of that before they built it...

%100 uptime?
Terrorists probably cannot do anything.
Security is high. But
Mother Nature can send One earthquake.
Boom ..gone .. downtime till completely fixed.
Do you know how long it takes to fix it. hehe
better home server...

In networking we have the rule of five 9s, which says that your server has to be up for 99.999%.
In simpler terms, your server should only be down for about 15min. a year.
