  • Hi Heather,

since this video is old, I'm not sure you will read...

what I learned in the past year is about the 'thermal nature of foods', according to Chinese Medicine. After being vegan for so long (35 years?), my digestive fire is out. Result : chronic diarrhea, undigested foods, low blood pressure, B12 deficiency, severe anemia. Last summer I was into green drinks, but that threw me off even more, I not have cold in the knees (TCM symptom). I'm now changing my eating habits, difficult task!

  • @lineg Im so sorry to hear about all the health problems you are having i hope your health improves. im barely starting my journey on eating healthy. I dont eat any soy or any of the vegan alternatives there is out there just mostly raw foods and vegetables and sometimes one cooked meal. what caused you all of this problems was it being a vegan?

  • Thank you!! for all the wonderful videos, I really like the way you teach & explain your topics.

  • The best info on health, not just healthy eating has been from you, hands down. Specifically the difference between over and underactive stomach, because I've been on a lot of omeprazole lately to no avail and the underactive stomach seems to actually fit me better. Also, the kinds of fiber, and the fact that you know how to balance things. The portion proportions are key. The pyramid is not intuitive. Maybe you could copyright a food pie to emphasize proportions. I have alittle trouble with th

  • I agree you and Phil are awesome for trying to make a difference in people's lives and inspiring! Your videos and advice have really helped me learn about whole food while transitioning to a vegan diet. I'm also trying to inspire my family to make healthier food choices. We all gave up dairy and they eat less meat.

  • @cutesmile8611 That's so great, good luck with your family! I love when others are willing to change, and it might take some time but being a good example is so important. Good luck with it, and thanks for the feedback :)

  • I pretty much knew it all many years ago, but I'm on a massive refresher course, so here is what I'm reviewing:

    1. try to come as close to nature as possible, including wild foods.

    2. try to stay as close to nature with raw foods.

    3. try to grow your own produce.

    4. try to get a girl friend who is as beautiful, kind and intelligent as Heather....

  • @whothehellgivesadamn refreshers are always good. haha... an excellent top 3, I highly agree ;)

  • @healthyvegan lol

  • I highly recommend Heather's 7 day meal plan. For me the 7 day grocery list lasted me 2 weeks and only cost $100 in ingredients. It's an inspiring plan and worth every penny. The meals are so yummy. And I'm taking her advice and using it in other recipes. For example, the flax seed, berry, and oat breakfast cereal is soooo yummy and filling! Thank you Heather!

  • @oneferna Also I now have new herbs and things I can use in the future so it will be even cheaper to eat all vegan.

  • @oneferna aw, I'm SO happy that it helped and that you had fun with it :)

  • I love your videos Heather! keep posting please :) it makes my day when I get a new video in my inbox. In the last year I have learned a great amount of information about the importance of eating whole foods, preferably raw (thanks to you and phil and other sources:). But the one thing that shocked me was the amount of nutrients loss when I used the microwave to cook. I was very naive and unaware that nearly 90% nutrients is lost!. I have made changes. Thank you for all the delicious recipes too

  • @lovinglifehappy2011 aw, thank you :) don't worry, we have no plans to stop! but the encouragement definitely helps ;) yay whole foods!!! yay giving up microwaves!!! yay lots of raw foods!!! sounds awesome, I'm happy to have helped you on your path so far - and don't worry, we all started out naive, and we've all been fed misinformation too - the more we share, the more we can all grow :) thanks for your post

  • @healthyvegan you're very welcome :) happy easter to you and Phil!!

  • I really enjoy your videos and I have learned a lot but, Why do you have a 7days meal plan with fish? aren't you vegans guys?? I though you didint support meat eaters.

  • @AlchemyFC My goal is to help people eat healthier - a major part of that is to help people shift towards more plant foods and less animal foods. If I didn't help meat eaters learn how awesome they can feel with minimal animal foods, they'd never make that shift, right? I also think you can be healthy with a small amount of animal foods. We don't support the mass animal-producing industry, but we do support people who want to learn how to make healthier choices - whether they eat meat or not :)

  • you guys are great!!=) i've learned so much from you and what you are doing is very helpful and informative

  • @37mamak awesome, so glad you're getting some good stuff :)

  • Through last year I learned some new things about protein: since I switched to a vegan diet, people often ask me is where I get my protein. I did some research and learned not only that all vegetables, grains and seeds contain at least some complete protein, but it's easier to break it down than that contained in animal products. I also learned about some foods particularly reach in protein such as mushroom, spinach, lentils, amaranth, soy and beans.

  • @vappole awesome - I love it when more and more people get onto the protein myth :) thanks for sharing!

  • It takes a lot of love, passion and guts to say no to a advertisers who are willing to offer you money. You and Phil are awesome!

  • @KezoZydis thanks :)

  • Great tips.

  • I learned more in the past year about nutrition then i have in my whole life. Last April my brother wanted to start bodybuilding and asked me to help so I looked it up and all the videos i seen they all said nutrition was the most important. Since then I learned so much about food and the body and everything else its unreal . Way to much to explain but at the end of it I ended up here because I was a meatatarian and all I was taught and learned was a bunch of ^%$p IM trying to be vegan and I wil

  • @MrNumberFour wow, sounds like you've been on quite a journey! anyway, glad to hear your horizons have opened and you're heading more towards plant foods :)

  • Dr. Douglas Graham has really taught me the most to this amazing lifestyle change!

  • and oh yeah about what I know now that I didn't used to: LOTS. I used to eat lots of cheese/eggs/chicken and turkey cuz I thought it was protein that I needed. The more I read and researched (and watched you) WHAT A LIE!! I love being vegan! It's something I never thought I could do, but I feel so good now and it's easy. It is maddening when I see people shoving meat and dairy down their throats scared to death of not getting enough protein or calcium. Geez ;)

  • @limbaughlady thanks, so glad I've been able to help :) And I know what you mean... sometimes I wish I was a more confrontational person, but at the same time I know I'd never get anywhere - those people have to be ready to change before they'll listen. All we can do is be happy and healthy in our own choices :)

  • How long did it take you to become a holistic nutritionist?

  • @lucasroby77 I fast-tracked my course to 1 year, it's normally a 2-year

  • Thank you so much for these videos! You are a terrific inspiration/role model. You have helped me so much and enabled me to help my family more. Thanks again and keep 'em coming! XOXO
