Je crois que j'ai vu ce film quand il est sorti, dans une salle d'art et d'essai. Très mauvais film, j'ai failli partir avant la fin. Et pourtant j'aime Bach.
I believe I saw this movie when it came out, and I remember it as being very very bad.
La mise en scène est exécrable, tout comme les dialogues d'ailleurs. Ce n'est que les dix premières minutes, espérons que le niveau s'élève par la suite.
Yeah, Bach speaks french in this movie as Beethoven speaks english in Immortal Beloved with Gary Oldman... Is that such a big deal? Gonna cry?
The scene opens with the Duke of Weimar apologizing to Bach's wife for mistreating Bach. Next we see the funeral of Johann Ambrosius Bach father, Bach's father. Bach's mothr had died 6 months earlier. The young boy (orphaned Bach) is taken in by his eldest brother organist Johann Cristoph Bach to his home in Ohrduf, Bach is given a room to study and his brother exhorts him to apply himself seriously. However his brother does not allow young Bach access to manuscripts by more advanced composers.
Bach studies by heart and copies the manuscripts by moonlight . He is often sick from lack of sleep. His brother discovers the copied manuscripts and destroys them .That year as a punishment Bach is not allowed to the family reunion. As Christoph's house is now crowded with more children, the elder brother sends the young Bach to Luneburg where his present school teacher finds him a scholarship as a singer in the choir. Bach had a beautiful soprano voice. Bach promises Christoph to do his best.
hello. what is the original name and year of the film? I´d like to find it with english subtitles but my search has been unsuccesfull yet. thanks. mary
Gracias a Bach mi amor por la musica y el violin nunca morira. Es tanto lo que admiro a este gran hombre que ni mil palabras podrian describir este gran sentimiento. Gracias Bach.
@lapmarty it called numbers symbolism bach used on his name
BACH =14 why ?
2138=14 most of his fugues the motif has 14 notes like on his first fugue on his wtc 1 book in his last contrapuncts 14 the second motif has 41 notes why j.s.bach =41
like his 14 inventions but there is 15 u know why ? 1 on bible number symbolism is 1 = God so 14= bach + 1 = Bach and God
i have the ook bach and the number, there is alot of dates of bach death in his works and the day of the yar number also
You can do this kind of thing to any kind of music or book, thought i certainly understand why you would do it with Bach. But it doesn't prove anything.
No, you can see what the writers of the book did to get interesting results. Like i said, you can write such a book about any composer. Maybe Bach did some of it on purpose, maybe not. There is simply no way to know.
Why would one add these numbers to each other in that way? _Because_ it gives the value 14. Think about it; You look for numbers that sum to 14. When you find such numbers, you add them. Surprised, you get 14. Magic? If you look for numbers you can add to get 14, you will find them. The man composed thousands of pieces of music. It is not surprising that you can add numbers like this and get results. It would be surprising if it could not be done. It doesn't prove anything.
@gr0mithtimon well for you doenst prove it for the other people who has eyes does it prove it all, but thats your problem, your stuck you dont wanna see it
thats kinda suck for you, you dont wanna see it, how this works, and how Bach did this, u just cannot believe it and see it, thats your problem have nice day
@gr0mithtimon There is more evidence of Bach doing this because of all of the similar things he would throw in. He used his name as a subject. Analysis of tempos and bar lengths reveal lengths of movements to be in simple ratios of eachother (2 to 3, 1 to 2, etc). The Musical Offering is full of puzzles (if you haven't seen the canons you need to look them up). I say it's plausible.
@SecondAgeOfReason The puzzles that are included in the musical offering simply do not prove that he inserted hidden messages in his musical themes in the way of how many notes they consist of (an odd leap of logic!). It shows that Bach likes symbolism and puzzles, but surely not every note he writes is symbolic or a puzzle, and to find out where specifically he is using either of those you need to do some very thorough (mathematical) analysis to rule out the effects of chance.
@gr0mithtimon I was talking about the plausibility of a comment about the measures in his B minor mass or something like that. I can't now find the comment. Some of the things earlier don't look plausible, but what I was replying to seemed to be very likely. Since Bach was known to purposely put symbolism in his music, the "leap" in logic is that it is more likely that given symbolism found in his music was intended than for other composers.
