Yaaaaasssss! that was some real drama back in the day. LACE and LACE 2 with Phoebe Cates.. I just remembered this scene, and I gasped when she said "bitches" on 80's Television. You go, Phoebe, you betta set them straight, LOL
I remember this being on tv when I was in high school. My mum wouldn't let me stay up and watch the last episode. After much stamping and slamming doors I went to bed and put my tv under the quilt and watched it, with no sound, just in case she heard me. Didn't get to hear the words until I bought the video a few years after!
That made television history.... Lilys' schemes and outspokeness makes the scene a classic.... The line is one of the quotes that made the 80s the decade of mini series.... And the "bitch" is only revealed in the last scene of the series...
Absolutely excellent series, i have it on vhs, but to get on dvd costs a fortune!!!! I was 14 when it came out, am now 40. Excellent acting from all, especially phoebe cates, spot on. Recommended
@MOSESCAT69 its available on Amazon.com and it's only 20 dollars :) but i know what you another miniseries I love is The Thorn Birds and it took us forever for me to find..thank heavens for Amazon
@upenngirl18 Thanks, actually, i have just ordered the Thorn Birds from Amazon only a couple of weeks ago!!! Also, have just got Lace 2 from E-Bay, to conclude the series!!!
Loved that mini series,it was excellent saw it a few years ago on the WE channel,it still held up.with one of the great lines ever. The tag line for the mini series was great too..".Lace don't let the title fool you". lol
A Lace 2? Yes. There was another one later where Lili looks for her real father. I don't remember when that one came out. I do remember that in the second one there is a different actress playing the part of Judy. Also, Lili's accent is dropped.
I watched this mini series in Sweden when i was young. Can´t really remember how young though but i just loved it. There is something about the mystic and the glamour that i just can´t put words on. Another series i feel almost the same about is another 80-series i remember; blood and orchids. I would love to have those on dvd, but i don´t think they exist, do they?
I know the feeling! LOL. I ordered it from this one place, forgot to read the fine print, and it was in a different language. (my bad) But also, it was on 2 tapes, and the second tape was missing. Grrrrr...
I don't know where to order or who to trust. *sigh*
I still got both VHS tapes but they're about to wear out after so many viewings. I just love *Lace*. The story is quite far-fetched but the acting and the music score were absolutely lovely.
i can vividly recall watching this tv series in Manila when i was still around 9 or 10 yrs. old and i fell in love with the storyline immediately; especially when it was time for her to find out who her real father is.. and boy, what a surprising story twist it was during the reveal! (which is the highlight of the story IMHO) thanx so much for sharing this. i think i'm gonna buy the dvd. brings soo much memories. ^_^
I remember watching this movie as a child with my mother...I was in the 4th grade. I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH...I can't remember but it may have been Oxygen or WE that aired it quite a few times about 6 years ago...the other line that has ALWAYS been stuck in my head is Anglea Lansbury saying, "Zhe child...it is killed...it is dead!" then she begins to mumble in French....AHHHHHHHHHH I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best film ever made -- all time favorite. Am reading the book from the public library and Barns and Nobles has it. Quite pornographic and Part VI is really disturbing so beware. It's a story which celebrates female sexuality and strength. I am fascinated by the story and adore that scene.
DO not read the other posts till watching the whole movie. Ok if you want to be supprised do not read any further down cause it will take some of the -- a LOT of the fun of watching the movie out so SPOILER alert if you read further down people's comments.
ok I work nights, so I would love to be to watch the whole thing. I have tried to order this movie and have even looked to rent from blockbuster and hollywood video they don't have it. The only place to get it is amazon europe,on vhs and then you have to have a vcr that plays european video tapes. if you the movie olease put the whole movie on here chronilogical order. Thank You.
"the" line of 1984 that was repeated a zillion and one times by everybody...hard to believe that it has already been 27 years...

The 'bitch' line was soooo scandalous for network TV back then. Everyone talked about it and couldn't wait to see this scene.

The book version reveals the father and the mother. The book version explains better how who it was ended up being her father.
