@MajorPwnage96 No reason to be discouraged! Everybody has a different learning style when it comes to learning *anything*, not just guitar. Some people learn best by watching others. Others learn best by reading books. Others learn through hands on experience. Think carefully about how you learn best in school. Do you learn by listening to the teacher lecture, reading a book, or working through problems/questions by yourself? The answer to that question will reveal how you should learn guitar!
@kanis999 Sorry if this is a duplicate comment. Hmm.. I haven't seem to have thought about that. I've tried all methods, but never determined which was best. If I had to guess, it's probably self teaching, though it baffles me how my favorite guitarists can be so great teaching themselves. Thank you for the prompt response!
I have an EC1000 FR and its simply an amazing guitar. LTD's get bashed too much because they are the "cheaper" ESP models but I wouldn't trade my LTD for anything and I've owned many guitars including Fender, Schecter, Ibanez, Epiphone, PRS...etc. For hard rock and heavy metal this guitar truly kicks ass
Of the 6 note stream, every note but #2 is being picked but you have options. The more notes you pick the better the exercise is. Most important notes to pick are #1 and #4. #1 always = downstroke, #4 always = upstroke. All odd numbers= down, all even numbers = up. Alternate, alternate, alternate!
I have been playing for ten years, and have used only the internet and inspiration to help learn. If the video text seems like a foreign language, you may want to search google for a lesson explaining what a scale is, and more specifically what the pentatonic scale is. Good Luck
@kanis999 I have an epiphone custom black and its one of the best playable guitars around that price area ( 500 € i dont know how much dollars) and i play metal too i just bought somme EMG"s (81 and 85) for it and now it plays like a maniak .
So if you do not recomend epiphone I think you never played the wright one.
ha! nice! when i do it, i pulloff on the accented note. i used to pick every note, but then i got lazy. i think the hardest way to shred pentatonic is just regular without triplets-like zakk wylde. ONE two one two one two ONE two one two one two. descending to the next string after two notes. good vid :)
good lesson, realy helpt out alot, how long did it take you to be able to play this speed? and howlong are you playing guitar :p... just to know homuch i suck after playing 2 years
Thanks, and good question. The secret lies in accenting the first of every three notes. These are the notes that you want to land on metronome clicks, with 2 notes evenly spaced between each click. This teaches you to feel the core rhythm so that instead of trying to hit each and every note right on time, you only have to focus on timing the "main" notes. With practice, the other notes should fall right into place without conscious thought!
Good lesson man. Well it's no problem to do the pattern. But I'm having problem getting the speed you get. What do you do to just build up speed? Just play it over and over until you can do it faster or do you use some other technique like do double notes instead of just each note?¨
anyways nice vid 5/5. And what is that guitar? And is it EMG 81 and 60 on it?
Am I the only one who can't follow any tutorial on Youtube? I am starting to think guitar is not the instrument for me despite my love for it.

It helps to count the notes like this:
ONE-two-three TWO-two-three THREE-two-three FOUR-two-three ONE-two-three and so forth.
