Why Mervyn King Switched From BDO To PDC!!

I back the PDC all the way.If it wasnt for the players being brave and starting up there own organisation and getting the product worldwide and staring many televised evenets i dread to think where darts would be at now.Olly croft didnt do enough for the players he wasnt moving the game forward. the documentary about the split in darts showed how stubborn croft was as a person.The game of darts is massive now thanks to the bravery of those players and the leadership of mr Barry Hearn.

@mpw180 I remember that there was a lot of rumours flying around and He stated he will never leave BDO......and he jumped ship.....:( I'm not keen on PDC darts can't put my finger on why I don't like it :S

@mpw180 I think you hit the nail on the head regarding the crowd...I read somewhere they are similar you rowdy football fans (and not of the nice variety)... and Also it's so Las Vagas looking tacky and OTT...And all this arguing about BDO players are rubbish compared to PDC players make me laugh as half of the PDC players are Ex BDO :S

@marky437 That they are. The majority of the players are switching because of the mega bucks on offer, and thats why they switch. If it was me, I would rather play darts than get paid millions. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with earning money, because we all have to. But my point is, if you're doing something just for the sake of the money, and not getting any enjoyment out of what you're doing, why do it?

@mpw180 Ted Hankey announced yesterday that He's leaving BDO for PDC. I agree playing Darts for enjoyment and get reconition in the sport....I mean look at Martin Adams he's done a lot for the sport as well as a few others.....and he's so far declined PDC Offers and I hope he continues to do so......It's just greed but then again there is a financial insentive involved esp with the finanial situation at the mo....shame really.

@marky437 Aye, I seen it on the BBC website that Hankey was going over. I know Martin Adams has done a fair bit for darts in the last few years, and I hope that, now he's on the BDO board, improvements in darts can be mad i.e more TV coverage of the Lakeside, and also may include a couple of other Majors. But for me, if I was invited to the Grand Slam, I'd snap it up...not necesarily for financial gai, but to gain that bit more experience.

@mpw180 yeah thats true but the BBC coverage this year has been quite small..found out that the BBC had sold most of the full matchs to ESPM (I think thats what they are called) and only have viewing rights until 2013 :( does this mean we lose darts on BBC..which really sucks....and I don't have SKY :(
