  • thumbs up if ur watching in 2012

  • like if you love he's sense of humor. haha

  • I wish I knew about you about 2 years ago. I've thrown away sooo manyyy boards b/c of chips and razor tails. but thanks for making these vids. every skater should sub to your channel! you know your stuff!

  • Will use for future reference

  • I WONNA SEE YOU SKATE!

  • how wheels radar gun! haha those things rock

  • @rinklyfrank Ha ha. Yeah they work great! Funny you saw that.

  • i think you are funny

  • could you use the old griptape to sand down the excess wood filler?

  • @VansShoeGirl91 Sure

  • what longboard was in the background???

  • @Ivotjeuh Loaded Dervish

  • cool but the way you look at me is frightening

  • can you use wood filler on the tail if it has razor tail and fix it?

  • @TheKyle444 You could add a little. Try not stopping or slowing down with your tail if you do. The filler on a tail does wear off easier than wood. It can bring back some of the shape and possible bring back a little pop. If the razor tail is smooth scratch it up a little (don't make it worse) with rough sand paper so the filler can stick better.

  • @skateboardtech Thanks for the advice and by the way you should do a video on how to slow down razor tail that would be awesome.

  • @skateboardtech if it was a pro he wouldnt waste his time on a new board he would get a new one hes pro they get free decks duh!

  • @fsdan180 yeah duh! You clearly no nothing about pro's and how ridiculous they are about decks. For an example go to the dwindle site and watch the video about DSM premium wood. You'll hear some stuff about how much they want the perfect deck.

  • @fsdan180 Now I know you must be feeling pretty pissed, I wouldn't have made this video if I didn't believe this could work. I have done this a bunch of times. I even did this for a pro who was so anal about his deck shape that he wanted a chipped nose fixed. It worked fine. This has worked for lots of other people already. Something obviously didn't work correctly so let's find out what the problem was. Send me a message with the brand of wood filler and the detailed steps you took.

  • @skateboardtech ill put a vid of it

  • darn mine is snapped in half literally

  • Is there a possible way to fix a split board like this

  • @TheSpartim What you have is delamination, which is the plies are coming apart. I'll be doing a video on this in the near future. Use some wood glue, any brand is fine, squeeze it between the plies and clamp the plies down. A clamp is about $1-2. It's ok for glue will come out the edges. let it dry for 24 hours. Sand off the glue around the edges and go skate.

  • @skateboardtech

my board has a carack which looks like its gg to chip and that cracks leads a split between plys, how can i fix this?i was on budget and got a 2nd hand deck but i didnt check thouroghly and jus now while "cleaning" my board i saw it...=(

  • @RonLarhz send me a picture of the crack to ratvision@yahoo.com. I'll tell you what to do next.

  • @skateboardtech

    i dont have a hd cam,when i have the chance i'll send it.thks!.

  • @RonLarhz I am working on a video today that shows how to fix a crack/delamination. If possible use a flat head screwdriver to open up the crack. Squeeze wood glue (about $4) into the crack. Place a clamp ($1-3) down on the chipped area. I'll probably post my video early next week.

  • @skateboardtech

yea i went to ask some local old skaters they said similar stuff but it isnt that bad yet so i dun wish to ruin it with my untrained hands.prolly do wat u said when the time comes?

btw i have 1 "question" about spacers.i went to get a real skate wheel today(preciousy was using fake wheels)and somehow when i put the my original spacers(comes with the previous setup)in,2 of it doesnt spin as long/smooth.but when i took them out the ride feels weird.

  • so ya think i should keep them in or take them out?or find new spacers?

if new,how do i know which fits like you say in the other vid?oh man, wish u r a local skater/shop owner >.< btw the wheels is kinda wobbly when i let it spin when the board is on its side.

  • how does a chipped skateboard effect ur skating??

  • @theflipp2skater56 It makes the tail soft reducing pop, and depending on the chip, shortens the tail.

  • Hey man, you got some gnarly arm and hand hair

  • I feel like he's talking to me like I am in Kindergarten again, me likey

  • what griptape do you use

  • please be my first subscriber you are awesome i want you to be first subscriber it would mean a lot to me pleease

  • haha thanks

  • tanx man

  • how long does it take for the wood filler to dry

  • @123Skateboarding456 It depends on the amount needed, but most instructions say to wait 24 hours.

  • wat board is that

  • thx man,i finally found a solution for it...i broke a piece of my skate trying to do a kickflip and broke it with my ass...now i have kind of a big but not that big chip on my deck...thx now i know how to fix it!

  • Or you could use your griptape as the sandpaper. :p

  • thumbs up if u noticed the loaded dervish :3

  • Make more videos! I just watched all of them, even though I knew most of this. You explain everything so well it's easy to follow.

  • What else could I used if I don't have sand paper?

  • what happens if you dont use the wire brush and just put the wood filler on

  • @jellystuff You don't have to use it. it's just in case there is a lot of debris in the chipped area. The less debris and dust there, the better the wood filler will bond to the deck..

  • 6 people didnt know what a cassete tape case is

  • @Crazydavicho I counted 7 maybe it was 6.

  • will you please respond....I have a baker its all chppied up up and it razortail on both ends can i still skate with it????and will you tell me a brand that doesnt chip easily

  • @theflipp2skater56 Most brands have sent their deck manufacturing outside the USA. This change has not been noticed by the majority of skaters but quality has been effected. Baker decks are made in Mexico. Don't be suckered into brands because they're cool. Obviously u want a quality deck now. Find a company making decks in the USA. Not sure who still is. Look on a new deck for a sticker or printing on the top and see where they are made. Avoid Mexico and China, and P.R.C means China.

  • @skateboardtech Not true man, asked local skate shop that said its not true and there sponsered and pro skateboarders who work there. My Plan B Prolite is made in Mexico really good deck and ya like a board made in china might not be as good as a Mexico or USA board because maybe glue isnt the best.

  • @TheBruinspride123 Shop employees hardly know anything about the stuff they sell. Most employees are high school kids, or just graduated high school, and skate so they apply for jobs at shops. Pro's know more because they care about their equipment but most of them don't know much either. I wasn't saying Mexico or China don't make anything of quality. I was implying to buy American made to be safe. You're right about glue, and again, that's why I suggested avoiding Mexico and China.

  • Hey dude, love your videos, you also look like the guy who was dating Cindy in Scary Movie;)

  • Do you think you can make a vid of how to build a skate board with trucks, bearings, wheels, bolts, & a deck

  • @TheSpartim I've thought about it, but it would be boring. My videos already show how to grip and put bearings in wheels. Everything else is a no brainer. Is there something specific you wanted to know?

  • Hey man do you think wood putty would work??

  • THANKS MAN THIS REALLY HELPED :)

  • can u put it on the sides

  • @jellystuff Sure, but the sides don't matter like the nose or tail. You can just leave it alone if its not that big of a ding.

  • make a vid of u sk8ing

  • If there it is still all sticky on the deck after you take the grip tape off, what do you use to get that off? but i don't mean the grip tape has separated into two separate layers( sticky adhesive layer, and grip layer), i've heard rubbing alchohol works idk?

  • @013MasteRSA Don't worry about the sticky adhesive left on the deck. It's really thin, so you just put the new grip on it. If there are some chunks, just scrap it off with a razor blade.

  • Where was this guy 14 years ago when I started skating

  • @MARooNSUPRaMK3 Awesome comment! Makes doing all these videos worth it.

  • @Skateboardtech he's being an ass just saying will it blend it's some guy that puts things in a blender and sees if it will blend he always say "will it blend"anyways please check out my videos and look my bro up (flatoutblack) he got some funny stuff and message me what you think of my vids and any tips would be appreciated hope to here from you man. P.S. This video really helped thank you!

  • But will it blend?

  • @sk8punk25 Blend? What are you asking specifically?

  • @skateboardtech It's a reference to the Youtube program "Will It Blend?"

    Look it up :)

  • thumbs up for dervish

  • what kind of camrea do you use?

  • does a cassete tape case really work

  • @123thehuman You can use any object with a flat surface that you can hold in your hand.

  • please when are you gioning to make new videos i love your videos there the best on Youtube about sk8boarding but there is just not a big amount of videos :) please reply

  • @MrPede16 I've been working on my site. I'll have a few more videos next week. Anything you want to know more about?

  • @skateboardtech i have a deck and it had a small chip but it was small so i didnt worry about it but then the layers of wood started to fall out in big pieces and now the tale its totaly gone :( any ideas?

  • @MrPede16 Send me a picture of your deck to ratvision@yahoo.com. I'll tell you know what to do after.

  • @skateboardtech its fine now today i broke the deck getting a new deck soon :)

  • Cassettes > anything

  • what deck is that deck

  • i could :3

  • @superduck63 you're right.

  • this dude looks stoned...

  • @superduck63 There is no way I could have made this video stoned.

  • My board is going to be chip soon should remove that chip part and fill with wood filter?

  • @hoatiet Use some wood glue to put the shipped piece in place. Use something to clamp it down.

  • yay loaded dervish in the background!!

  • what can i use if i don't have a razor blade

  • @willfryd A machete works great. I'm joking. you really need something sharp. Scissors will not work, and if you tried you'd ruin them. A razor blade is really the best tool.

  • Little tip with the wood filler being stiff to squeeze, just cut the tip! :) bigger hole= quicker squeezing time :)

  • @ravenshield56 The point was that to get between the plies the tube won't help much.

  • @skateboardtech Sorry I meant cut the tip down, not all of it :) just a little easier, i do it with polyfiller for cracked walls :)

  • can it work

  • @Gstayomama Yes it does. It's not going to bring the board back to new, but it's something you can do to extend the life of the board.

  • When I get a chip I leave the wood in till I get home then I shoe goo the wood into place and the chips never a problem again

  • thx little dude

  • I'm digging the dervish in the back ;)

  • I'd have to say this helped alot

  • nice dervish!

  • @ShazamBacon pleaaase tell me this is a joke

  • Your videos rock! Thanks for the education! :)

  • will the wood filler affect the pop?

  • That was really helpful ;)

  • haha 2:26

  • @ShazamBacon No, it won't work. Wood filler isn't that strong. There really isn't anything you can do. It's just a part of skating. In a way you've become a man.

  • hey worked perfectly but would i do the same thing for the bottom of the skateboard and do i have to remove the whole sheet of grip again?

  • @bobbyemert If you are going to fix a spot on the bottom you obviously wouldn't need to remove the grip tape. I am also not exactly sure what you are asking or want to do.

  • woooooo dervish

  • What is that longboard in the back righthand corner of the screen at 0:14 called?

  • @33soccer4life33 That is a Loaded board, called the Dervish. You want the best board that is far better than the best decks out there? Wait about a month and get the new Dissent brand deck. These decks are unlike anything ever manufactured before. They will be sold through Daddies Board Shop.

  • niice love it it helps alot try it

  • Yay! Rollerblades! just kidding

  • i tried it today and it the griptape wouldn't stick to the part that was filled with wood filler

  • @footwearXP That sucks. This should not happen, obviously. The surface where the wood filler is needs to be really clean before you put the grip on. The dust after sanding is really fine and will cover the adhesive backing on grip tape. The dust won't allow the grip to stick to the deck. I assure you this works. I have done it many many times, and have not had this problem. What brand wood filler did you use?

  • @skateboardtech Elmer's, is the same one you used on the video, and ill have to try it again then tomorrow I'll go and get some griptape and make sure that this time is completely clean.

  • @footwearXP I am sorry to hear about your trouble. Please let me know how things work out.

  • @skateboardtech your so awesome I was sad because i like really my board its Almost it has red plies and carbon fiber and then it chipped. And you saved my life and money THX man.

  • will the wood filler last aslong as the wood or will it wear down quicker?

  • @W0LFM1LF It will last the life of the deck. If your question is in regards to using on the bottom of the tail then it won't last as long as wood. Meaning, it will come off a little easier that the wood wearing off. But it's better than nothing and wearing more of the tail off.

The chip I fixed in the video will last as long as the wood because nothing is touching it. Let me know if this answered your question.

  • @skateboardtech yeah man, thanks

  • i watched a show called "rad" and they fixed a broken tail buy getting fine wood shavings and mixing them with wood glue then use it as a paste in the de-lam then sand it down as you did, seemed to work pretty well!

  • @TheGhettostylus Yes this is perfect. This is a very common way to repair cracked or damaged wood. I am in the process of getting things ready to do a video on how to fix delamination. I may not show using saw dust/fine wood shavings because a kid does not have this on hand or can go get it easily. Using only wood glue is totally fine. Can you send me a link to the TV show, or tell me more info about the country, network, etc.

  • @skateboardtech all i know is it was on channel 5 on UK television and it was mark Churchill showing you how to do it.. cant think how long ago it was now.

  • @TheGhettostylus Thanks. The show was out about 10 years ago. There are Youtube videos of it, but nothing on fixing a chip or delam. Cheers

  • ARE YOU PRO!!!

  • it took you a little while to sand tht by hand right?

  • @skateboardtech suggestion

  • @xxHardkorex There really is no other way to fix a razor tail than adding a little wood filler or a sweet 80's tail pad. However, there are some ways to prevent it. Try not to stop or slow down with your tail, if you do. Some guys will lift up the nose and slide on the tail a little before stopping in front of a set of stairs or hand rail. There are little things people don't notice they are doing that cause it. Over time razor tail is inevitable, but preventing will prolong deck life.

  • how to fix a razered skate board ???

  • @xxHardkorex Are you asking a question? Or making a suggestion for another video?

  • @Supreme080 Ha ok. Yes it should stick like new. I have not had a problem with it coming up or not sticking at all. My only guess is that you may not have wiped the area off enough and too much dust got on the adhesive. If you have the scraps maybe you could cut out the bad area on the grip and put a piece of scrap on the deck. Or go to a skate shop and ask for a scrap piece.

  • @Supreme080 This makes no sense. I have replaced grip tape so many times, and it has always gone with no problems. Did you wipe off surface? Was dust from sanding the wood filler all over the deck surface? The only way it won't stick is that the surface was probably dirty. Grip tape has amazing adhesives so without seeing it myself, there isn't much I can tell you unless you tell me more details.

  • @Supreme080 That's weird. Was it a new piece of grip tape or the same piece? If it was your old piece, it won't stick back on like new. The adhesive gets ruined usually.

  • my friend used sand paper for grip and lasted him intil his shoed broke and scratched him so in other words 1 day

  • do u know how to fix scratches?

  • @assasin980 Scratches? it's a skateboard. It's going to get scratches.

  • @assasin980 just sand it down till u cant see the scratches

  • dude this helps allot i never really thought of using wood filler i always just took the chip and used wood glue and glued it back together. thanks

  • Your videos are really tight man! I'm all about making stuff last and totally gonna build that berring cleaning kit. I would say on this one though, that you could probably save a whole sheet of grip by just cutting off the area around the chip and then putting corners of a fresh sheet back over it when you're done. That way you could still use the rest of it on another board. Anyways thanks for breaking everything so detailed.

  • mate thats cool and everything, but why arent u riding the dervish in the background instead of that hunk o' shit

  • @InsideOutApple Clearly I have a heap of new boards, as seen in the other videos. So I don't ride that hunk o' shit. Ha ha. A lot of people don't have the luxury of ever affording a Dervish let alone any new popsicle deck. This video is to help only those who need a board to last a bit longer.

  • liking the dervish in the background

  • your good but have to make mor vids

  • @ryano2129u I'll be putting out a lot more videos soon. I've been busy writing an article for Concrete Wave about bearings. I'm working on a video that is based on the article. It's all about ABEC, Swiss, and ceramic bearings. After that I'll be doing a video on fixing board dings that have delamination, custom grip jobs, and stuff about wheels, trucks, and decks. Any requests?

  • @delhiskatingdays send me a photo or 2 to ratvision@yahoo.com. If you pealed the grip tape up right it will go back on easily and stay on.

  • @skateboardtech nevermind now my friend knew how to fix it and did the same as u he's seen this video it really works to

  • diggin the dervish

  • ur never suppose to clean barrings with wd40

  • Do you have to take the trucks off

  • @chrisbenitezs No. The trucks aren't touching anything.

  • @KenjiStar5 I recommend looking on eBay for a skate tool. Those can take the wheels. If you know how to get the bearings out I cleaned them and lubed it with WD40 but anything like that would work. Let it sit for however long you like then clean it with paper towels. Hopefully that helped

  • Hey, what's up everyone? Anyway, I recently bought a used skateboard and I wanted to see if I could fix it up or improve it in any way. The only problem is that I don't know where to start and I don't know how to work some things, such as taking off the wheels or cleaning them, etc. The board seems to be in decent condition. So I was wondering if anyone could help me out on this. This comment is for anyone who happens to read it. If you think you could help, just comment back. Thanks.

  • @KenjiStar5 Without seeing it I recommend taking it to a skate shop to look at. They should be able to tell you if there is anything you need to fix it up. It depends on the age. Bearings are the first thing to look at, so how well do the wheels spin? Maybe new grip will jazz it up, or maybe new bushings. DO NOT USE WD-40 or stuff like it. It's not intended to be used as a lubricant for moving parts. Watch the video on how to clean bearings. You don't need a skate tool if you have tools already

  • hey can this work for longboards maybe

  • @boocrosby87 That might depend on the longboard you have. If it is stiff and all [maple] wood then it will work. Longboards are made of a lot more stuff compared to street decks. Longbaords use use other materials like bamboo, fiberglass, or composite so I am not sure how well the bond will be. If you want to apply it on an area where the deck flexes than no it will just break apart. If the area is stiff and mostly wood or bamboo then it should work great.

  • @skateboardtech would it work on the tail of a landyachtcz drop carve 36 cause its bamboo

  • when i saw the surf board i was like WTF!!!!!!!

  • can i use a plow trier to the wood filler?

  • @skateboardtech thanks.... i'll nick a knife tomorrow

  • And a putty knife

  • @maggotsk8r1 You only need a wire brush if the area is really dirty and and the chip has small cracks and crevices with debris inside. You can use a rubber spatula (everyone has one is their kitchen) or a butter knife, just don't let mom find out.

  • But forgot a wire brush

  • Got the chipped deck, wood filler, new grip...

  • well thanks im actually planning on doin that.

  • What kind of griptape did you use?

  • would the blow dyrer just mess up the wood?? i thought it wuld i rather take it off the hardway

  • @wickedthugishhhhshit The blow drier will not effect the wood. It's not hot enough to do anything. You are just warming up the grip tape so the adhesive is not so stiff.

  • i have a chip in my board, but i just got new griptape and put it over it. can i do this if i pull up a part of my grip tape and put it back on after?

  • @suckiestvideo Yeah that will work just fine. Just peal the grip back enough to have some work space. It should stick back down like new. While you are sanding don't get dust on the grip or it won't stick as good. You could probably stick a piece of wax paper on the grip to keep it protected while sanding. If your mom cooks she might have wax paper. Try a little piece to test first in the center of the grip. If it peals off cover the sticky side. If you don't have wax paper, then be careful.

  • How do you fix delamination?

  • @IamTeHe If u have delamination and the deck is still pretty new (even months old), it's a defect. This has become more common as decks are being made outside of the USA. Decks are still covered under a warranty even when the deck has been used. A good shop should return it and replace the deck for you for free! If they don't call up the company, it's their fault. If the deck is really old just use wood glue and use some clamps to hold the plies tight together overnight. Sand off the glue after.

  • I love you guys
