@ziggerification most fire stations are close to each other by a few blocks from what my understandings are, i guess its a nyc thing unless it depends on the company and location and whatever building they could get to turn into a firehouse big enough to house one or more.

@ziggerification well you see there are these other rigs where they come in and become acting as another company. in nyc if theres ever a fire on a 2nd alarm or just a 10-75. a "replacement" (acting as) will come in and stay at the company till the regular housed company comes in. and dont worry calls dont come in that often in chinatown/l.e.s where its being taken care of by division 1. other companies near by will take the next job if the current closer one is already on a call.
